"teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.""
Have you ever gotten out of the habit of prayer? We all have at some point, God is still there. He waits patiently for us to slow down and just talk to Him, like a friend you haven't seen for awhile. We sometimes think there is a set way of praying but there isn't. Just speak to Him what is on your heart.
Tell Him both the good and the bad, He knows it anyway. We find peace when we visit Jesus.
