Romans 8:35-37

"What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword? As it is written: "For your sake we are being slain all the day; we are looked upon as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly through him who loved us."

As believers of Christ Jesus who died for our sins, we can not be separated from Him.  Do not believe in the lies the world or the devil tries to impale you with. 

We are victorious through Christ Jesus, this is our claim even when it appears contrary to this.  Do not deceive yourself, be His and only His.

May you continue to overcome, our faith isn't in what we see but in what we don't see, have a Glorious week in Jesus.

Luke 21:28

"But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.""

As we prepare for the celebration of the birth of Christ is it any different than preparing for His second coming? In my mind it is the same, we should be pure of heart, seeking God at all times and doing the best that we can.

Even that isn't enough but we have the advocate to help us get ready. God knows your heart so ask for help and allow Him to help. It is there for the asking, ask and you shall receive. Our redemption is at hand for Jesus is coming. Prepare the way.

Reflection:

We are to stand fast in spirit and truth. We are to walk in the Spirit and be led by the Holy Spirit, for when we submit to His leading and guidance we are delivered from a life of sin and set free from legalistic practices, laid down by law; you follow the law of God.  Let the Holy Spirit guide you in everything you do.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit I submit myself to your guidance and pray that I have the strength to never falter and leave the path you lead me on.

Malachi 3:1

"Now I am sending my messenger— he will prepare the way before me; And the lord whom you seek will come suddenly to his temple; The messenger of the covenant whom you desire— see, he is coming! says the LORD of hosts."

Today is Black Friday, even my phone wants to honor this day with capital letters. The world teaches us the opposite of what God wants. We are to prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ.

The things that people treasure come from the heart not at big box stores. The advent season begins in a few days do something special this year for yourself, take time out of your busy life and get ready for Jesus. It will also be the beginning of the year of mercy so another great opportunity lies ahead for us.

"Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name;"

We each have a lot to be thankful for, a place to sleep, family that loves us, friends that care about us, something to eat, a love for God in our lives. Not every one has all of these so remember where your blessings come from.

So as the verse says, it is all from God, you could easily been born in another country. You could of had less advantageous growing up. You could not have the hope of Jesus in your life. Bless His name for all that you have.

Happy Thanksgiving to each of you, we each live incredible lifes and have a lot to be thankful for.

Luke 11:13b

"how much more will the Father in heaven give the holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

"You do not possess because you do not ask." James 4:2b. I am reminded over and over again the advocate that Jesus sent us to help us on our journey. It is not easy each day but it is so much easier when we ask for help.

I was struggling with a project trying to do it on my own power, not enough time nor enough energy. I asked for His Holy Spirit, you know something this project is coming together and is being handled with no more time or energy. He is walking with us each day, the help is there for the asking!

The Triune God is amazing and is with each of us each day - ask and you shall receive. Safe travels to everyone visiting family.

Psalms 51:3

"Have mercy on me, God, in accord with your merciful love; in your abundant compassion blot out my transgressions."

God's mercy and compassion for each of us is never ending. As our Father he allows us free rein of our lives knowing which path we should choose. He waits patiently for us to acknowledge Him and honor Him.

He does not recall the hurts and pains we inflict upon Him. They are not even in His thoughts when He sees us. Do what God asks of you, and be a faithful servant honoring Him with what He gives you.

Enjoy your day for the God of the Universe thinks you are special.

Matthew 6:14-15

"If you forgive others their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions"

Why do we hold on to the pains and hurts that others inflict upon us? Jesus even while he was being punished looked upon His attackers with compassion. He knew they did not see what He saw, one of God's creations.

This Advent season give the gift of forgiveness to yourself and those with whom you hold grudges. Jesus has forgiven them why don't you, it isn't worth the internal pain. As a friend of mine says - "Drop the stone"

Be blessed this week with peace and forgiveness as you begin preparations for the coming of the Lord.

John 18:33-34

"So Pilate went back into the praetorium and summoned Jesus and said to him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus answered, "Do you say this on your own or have others told you about me?""

Why did Jesus ask Pilate "do you say this on your own?" Was He seeing if Pilate recognized Him as King? I find purpose in this question this morning for some reason. What would your answer be to Jesus?

Have you allowed Jesus to be the Supreme ruler in your life? That was His purpose to reign in our hearts that we may serve Him as our King. Yet He gives us free will to choose every day what we will do. Seek Him in all things and be satisfied.

Today is Christ the King Sunday honor Him with your actions and thoughts. Have a blessed day!!

Daily Thoughts 11-21-2015 Matthew 5:6

Matthew 5:6

"Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied."
‭‭
What do you hunger and thirst for? If it things of the world you will never be satisfied. It will always consume you for more.

What does righteousness mean? When I looked it up online - "the state of moral perfection required by God to enter heaven" seemed appropriate. Jesus was/is the perfect one that showed us the way. So when "I" read this verse, it is Jesus that I hunger and thirst for. I am satisfied with the results and realize that each day is a new beginning to be satisfied by Jesus.

Jesus is the righteous one who showed us the way to heaven be satisfied by Him each and every day.

"saying to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.'""

God's holy house is a place of worship to honor, to hear His word and to serve Him. Some today use God's house to satisfy their worldly desires.

When Jesus cleaned house it was because people were using God to glorify themselves. We are here to serve Him and do His will. The world creeps into our lives and it is important that we allow Jesus to clean house in our own temples.

Hebrews 3:15

"for it is said: "Oh, that today you would hear his voice: 'Harden not your hearts as at the rebellion.'""

God speaks to all of us but we must listen and follow His direction. When we decide not to listen or ignore what He is telling us is when we harden our hearts. God's plans for each of us is much better than anything we could come up with.

I spoke to someone recently that God was calling him in a direction, his response to God was, "you got to be kidding me". He listened to God's voice anyway and is following. He is living his life for God, are you?

Be still today and listen for His Voice and trust In Him for your life.

I have read this verse many times not grasping what it meant. We are to lay down our own will and do that of the Father. The world teaches us to gain power and control. Jesus teaches us the exact opposite.

God will provide what we need so be content with what you have and seek the will of God for your life. As the verse states "theirs is the kingdom of heaven", and this is our ultimate reward.

Lord, may we be blessed today with your will and be at peace.

We all make decisions each day to follow God's ways or to follow our own path. Have you considered what you are saying to others with your actions? Your actions speak volumes to those around you.

Eleazar, knew he was leading by example and he knew his decision impacts those around him, the easy way out would lead to hell. Following Jesus will force you to choose the harder path but one that honors God with your life.

Be blessed today knowing you are worthy of His mission. Read the rest of the story at 2 Maccabees 6:18:31

Luke 18:42

"Jesus told him, "Have sight; your faith has saved you.""

Jesus hears our cries for help and answers our prayers. He even cures those that are sick and in need. But not all are saved. As you read the miracles in the bible not everyone was saved but there is commonality to all that are saved.

Their faith has saved them, they trusted in God for their salvation. Their way of life changed after they encountered Jesus. We too must change how we do things. Don't fall back into old routines replace them with prayer and faith that God is leading you home.

Be at peace this week, everything is going to be ok, your faith will save you, strengthen your faith.

Jude 1:20-21

"But you, beloved, build yourselves up in your most holy faith; pray in the holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God and wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life."

Our faith is precious and is in need of being safe guarded. Seek opportunities to build your faith up. A one day retreat, a hour of adoration, an early morning mass. These are little extras that help when we need a boost on our journey.

As someone said recently, "Ask for the grace to be sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit that He does not pass you by when He asks us to do His will", we are given insight when we spend time with Jesus.

"Wine is very life to anyone, if taken in moderation. Does anyone really live who lacks the wine which from the beginning was created for joy?"

Joy is in my thoughts this morning as I awake. We rob ourselves of true joy when we turn away from God. Jesus is the answer to the happiness we all seek. Jesus is the answer, why can some not see this?

The joy that you seek can only be found in following the teachings of Jesus. Do not rob yourself of this.

I ask that you pray for those that are in need of the Joy that only Jesus gives. Please pray for others in need.

"But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."

 

Reflection:

God put us on this earth and God will take us from this earth….He gives us free will to deal with that middle time frame.  Life is such a precious gift from God we need to cherish it.  If someone came to you and said I will grant any wish you want, anything.  How grateful would you be to that person?  How much greater is your very life than one's earthly wish?   God has only one request for us while we are on earth and that is to be good steward of the gift He gave us.  He wants us to live a life worthy so one day, when He calls, we will go to our heavenly home with Him.  When He calls you, will you be ready to answer that call and say, "here I am Lord, your faithful servant".  Be always prepared for that call, brothers and sisters, and have no regrets.

 

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for this gift of life.  I pray that I have honored your gift as a worthy servant and have lived my life for your greater glory and have helped others to do the same.

Luke 17:25

"But first he must suffer greatly and be rejected by this generation."

Jesus is still being rejected today, and yet He says forgive them Father they know not what they do. Have you picked up His cross? Do you let Christ shine through you?

If you have some will reject you and shun you but most will quietly respect you for the strength that you have is not yours but that of Christ. So many need Jesus and need to see that His teachings have meaning today. Be that person.

God loves you that is why His Son died on a cross. Peace.

"Jesus said in reply, "Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?""

What is the significants of only one out of ten lepers thanking Jesus for being cleansed? They all received the same gift, so why did only one return?

There are so many gifts that we each receive every day, the gift of waking up. The gift of a beautiful sunrise, the gift of the car starting. It may seem mundane but it teaches us to always thank God for what we have and sometimes for what we don't have.

Realize where your power comes from today and give thanks to the All Mighty God.

The sin of pride can get in our way of doing the will of God. We all have a role to play in God's Kingdom. Each given a task and yet we are human, we want to be recognized for it.

God is the one who's recognition we seek. He sees what you do, do not look for accolades from the world. When the time is right, your Father in heaven will say - well done good and faithful servant.

Do what God puts in front of you today and be blessed with His grace.

Are you letting the Master Builder be the architect of your life? Or are your ways better at this point. We all go through phases in life, true happiness is found when Jesus is the brick layer.

Trust that Jesus knows what He is doing and follow His guidance. You maybe able to build a house but Jesus will build a mansion that will worship God and not self.

Jesus Christ is at work in you, be sure to feed Him this week, as He works in your life.

Just when things seem hopeless, God intervenes and rescues us. There are times in our lives that we can not see our way forward and then it changes. God is always at our side so never loose hope.

The abundance that The Lord gives when we do what He asks of us. In today's readings it is about giving from the heart. Not thinking of self but giving even when it seems impossible.

Follow your heart today no matter what the world tells you, God is Greater.

"And he said to them, "You justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts; for what is of human esteem is an abomination in the sight of God."

What is pleasing to God? Seeking personal gain? Seeking wealth? Seeking piety? Seeking God's will? These are a few things that come to mind, iGod knows our heart and it is not our place to judge others.

The message may not tie directly to the scripture this morning but it is what is on my heart. May God give each of you the desire and ability to seek His will. Not your own will for this I believe to be an abomination.

Romans 15:15-16

"But I have written to you rather boldly in some respects to remind you, because of the grace given me by God to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in performing the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering up of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the holy Spirit."

We are all called to perform the priestly service of the gospel of God, not just the Priest and Deacons. When we leave church each week what do they say at the end of mass. Go spread the word of the Gospel with your lives.

Our daily lives with Christ are important for others to see, not to shine a light on ourselves but to show others there is Hope. We live in some strange times and people need to see the reason for your hope. The will of God asks us to do this, to share His Son Jesus with others.

Be blessed today with your daily walk and do not fear for God is at your side.

"For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's."

I heard someone say recently whether God gave him a long life or a short life, he was happy either way for his life belonged to God. The faith to turn it all over to God and be happy with the outcome is truly dying to self.

Once we get to this point in our faith journey we are living, even when things don't seem to go our way. We know that God is in control and we know we are being cared for.

Lord help me not to over power the circumstances in my life today and relax for I am yours.

Galatians 1:10

"Am I now currying favor with human beings or God? Or am I seeking to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ."

Who's attention are you seeking is it God's, others or self? To follow Christ is to not worry about the outcome or the benefit. Self plays no role in our journey with Jesus, other than giving of self.

The Master is the one in control, we do not get to push God's plan, we are to follow His direction. Leaving everything behind trusting that God's plan is better than our own.

Jesus I place my care in your hands today, You are the keeper of my soul.

Romans 12:12

"Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer."

Our hope is Jesus, the way of the world is our affliction and prayer is our battle armor. Prayer and hope is what helps us in life. There is so much to be gained through prayer. Endure what ever you are being tested with.

God allows us to be tried for His purpose. Maybe it is to strengthen our prayer life, maybe it is to understand where our hope comes from. In any case rejoice that you are considered worthy to preserve for His glory.

Have a blessed day, God is at work, pray for each other that we may be found worthy when the master returns.

Wisdom 3:4

"For if to others, indeed, they seem punished, yet is their hope full of immortality;"

Immortality, life ever lasting, this is our hope. This is the hope of those that go before us. Life isn't always easy but it is fulfilling if we have the hope of Christ.

Be at peace knowing that you are being prepared for life ever lasting. When we walk with Jesus our days have meaning and purpose.

Let others see your hope in Christ. Have a great week in the Lord.

1 John 3:3

"Everyone who has this hope based on him makes himself pure, as he is pure."

Today is All Saints day, the saints were normal people in their time who lived their lives in a way that the light of Christ shone through them. God used their lives to demonstrate His love.

You can be a Saint, you have the same hope they have, your hope is Jesus Christ. Each day you are becoming more and more pure. Just live your life letting Christ shine through you, the glory belongs to Him.

The saints are our example on living a spirit filled life, get to know one. Enjoy your Sunday, Jesus loves You!
