Week 3 - The Journey Day 1
"Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death."" John 8:51
Are you afraid of dying? You don't have to be, Jesus tells us so along with a truth: keep His word. You ever argue with God? He doesn't get upset, doesn't yell, just speaks the truth. As I watch this morning, Jesus is having a debate with some very close minded people blinded to the truth. Their own fallacy's, their own truths which are self serving are preventing them to listen. Death is something we will all face, our last breath on earth. What does that look like?
Jesus can not lie so I will take Him at His literal word and not see death, God willing. How can I say that? "Whoever belongs to God hears the words of God; for this reason you do not listen, because you do not belong to God."" John 8:47. In our daily lives we have choices, do we listen to God, do we hear His word and keep it? The Jews heard Jesus but they were not listening, they didn't enter into a conversation with Him. They were too busy trying to condemn Him and prove they were right. They were trapped in their sins.
We are all going to die, I imagine it is like falling asleep and then waking up. The world I live in today is surrounded by God, it is He that I trust and in that day when I awake on the other side of my physical body, I see the same loving Father there, hands outstretched ready to receive another son, one who sits and listens to Him in an age that isn't easy.
What is God saying to me?
Dear Father, I see the struggle in everyday life and yet You carry me through each circumstance. I pray I am never closed minded to Your truth, I pray that I stand when called upon to speak truth and I pray I react as Jesus did, calmly and with purpose. This journey through time is filled with pit falls. Your word speaks truth to my soul beyond the words, it also speaks in images. I pray for those afraid of death bring them into Your open arms and give them the grace of sight. I ask this in Your most holy name, Abba Father, Amen.
Mary, Queen of Peace, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Protector of the Holy Family, Pray for us.
