Week 44 - The Journey with Nicodemus

Week 44 - The Journey with Nicodemus.

"Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come toward the light, so that his works might not be exposed. But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God."  ‭‭John‬ ‭3:18-21‬

Freedom.  Nicodemus was drawn to Jesus in the comfort of the night as he searched out truth.  Jesus had done nothing to receive the condemnation of the Sanhedrin and Nicodemus knew this.  Jesus knows Truth will penetrate darkness just as the light of Christ will.  He gently encourages Nicodemus with divine insights and allows Nicodemus to be brought into covenant relationship not by force or coerced but by his own free will.

Within each of us is the desire for happiness and, to come and know the Lord Jesus.  In our journey in life God gives us the freedom to chose just as he did Nicodemus.  The words of Jesus penetrate our hearts and we too, sit and reflect upon their meaning to us.  In the light there is true freedom for nothing is hidden from God even if it is done in the dark of night.

"A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains. So if a son frees you, then you will truly be free."
‭‭John‬ ‭8:35-36‬.  True freedom is found in Jesus by following His example, by sitting at His feet and listening.   Nicodemus chose his freedom in Christ and left the dark of night to shine like the stars as a saint.  We are each saints in the making but it is nothing that we can do but only Christ can do through us.  It is called grace.

What is God saying to me?  The burning bush is available to all, I call everyone out of Egypt, out of the slavery of sin.

Dear Father, there is joy in listening to You within scripture, in the spoken word so You may take root within our hearts.  Nicodemus learned this in the dark of night when life didn't quite make sense until You entered the picture.   Bless this day and all is has offered and what is yet to be revealed.  Watch over us this coming weeks and continue to prepare our hearts for victory in Christ.   I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
