Daily Thoughts - Make God Known

Daily Thoughts - Make God Known

Why do we complain of not being heard?

2735 In the first place, we ought to be astonished by this fact: when we praise God or give him thanks for his benefits in general, we are not particularly concerned whether or not our prayer is acceptable to him. On the other hand, we demand to see the results of our petitions. What is the image of God that motivates our prayer: an instrument to be used? or the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ?

Hard truth.  We have all been guilty of these thoughts, when the apparent need isn't being met, it becomes about us.  God on the other hand treats us fairly and equally all the time.  Do we go to the heart of our motivations, and seek to understand self in the process along with our relationship with our Father in Heaven.

The day of judgement will come to each of us.  God will review what we have done with the opportunities He has provided for repentance.  At every turn God is in every situation of our lives, fully aware of what our free will chooses.  Yet He never stops at seeking the lost and the lonely.  Even in the situations that are painful and do not turn out as we hope for, we may feel abandoned and neglected.  What do we do with those opportunities.  Do we trust in God's divine providence and continue to love Him knowing that all is still well.

In todays first reading, Joesph was dealt a bitter hand when he was thrown into the well, rejected and cast away for dead by his brothers.  Years later God brings them together to reveal His undying love for them through Joesph as he does the will of the Father, handing out penance and forgiveness as they come to know the heart of God.  Never lose hope, God's plan is always best.

Dear Father, around every corner there You are, revealing Yourself in the simplicity of the day.  I thank You Father for Your hand being upon us, for revealing Your divine nature as we journey home to You.  Prayers for friends dealing with life and not pleasant things, even in this You are healing hearts.  May we recognize the joys of life in normal everyday moments.  Bless this day Father, use me as You will, I pray I am an instrument in Your hands and not my own.  Love Your son.

Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Pray for us.
St Patrick, Pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
