1 John 2:21 12-31-20-8 dailythoughts.com

"I write to you not because you do not know the truth but because you do, and because every lie is alien to the truth." 1 John‬ ‭2:21‬

Do you ever take an accounting of where you are at?  As I reflect this morning with this scripture, I realize that I have done this with my business self, and my physical but not my spiritual.  What is God telling me?  Do we take an accounting of where we are at spiritually?   Will we set some objectives for the coming year to grow in truth?  God is speaking, am I listening?  "But when [God], who from my mother's womb had set me apart and called me through his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me, so that I might proclaim him to the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult flesh and blood," Galatians‬ ‭1:15-16‬.  It is a new year and a new beginning, be patient, sit at His feet upon the cross and wait for His answer.

Good morning Father, I enjoy our visits in the morning and where you lead me in thought.  You know that I desire to know You more intimately.  I thank You Father for this past year, both the successes and the failures.  I look forward to what is to come as I wait upon You.  Thank You for ears that hear and are guided to the truth.  Prayers for those that are dealing with difficult challenges and are seeking help, may they recognize the soft whisper of Your voice in their hearts.  Bless this day and continue to guide our thoughts and steps.  Amen.

Mary, Mother of the Child Jesus, pray for us.

Psalms 84:5-6 12-30-2018 dailythoughts.com

"Blessed are those who dwell in your house! They never cease to praise you. Blessed the man who finds refuge in you, in their hearts are pilgrim roads." ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭84:5-6‬

"Happy they who dwell in your house! Continually they praise you. Happy the men whose strength you are! Their hearts are set upon the pilgrimage." Psalms 84:5-6

Do you listen for God?  We are surrounded by Him, just look.  Is not all that you see His house?  Listening to God gives us comfort, safety, a knowledge of knowing that He is with you, He is your refuge for at anytime you can turn to Him and He is there.

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family, their pilgrimage is not any different than yours, being led to the heart of God.  It was their listening to God, knowing that God hears them and their response of "Yes Lord" we are to imitate.  Little eyes are watching!  I just spent some time with our grandkids and they are always listening.  What about you, are you hearing God speak ever where you turn?   Slow down and listen, celebrate the pilgrimage that He has you on.

Dear Father God, I thank You for this pilgrimage You have me on!  At each turn is a new adventure, a new insight, a joyous occasion.  Your house is magnificent and filled with immense treasure.  Thank You for leading me into Your heart, I yearn to know more and more.  I want to be like a little child, filled with curiosity and joy as we journey together.  Bless our families Lord with great listeners and a desire to please You.  Bless this day and may I always hear You calling.  In the name of Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Mary, Mother of All, pray for us.

Luke 2:29-32 12-29-2018 dailythoughts.com

""Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel."" Luke‬ ‭2:29-32‬

There is something very calming about repetitiveness, just like waves rolling in, it soothes the soul.  Go in peace is the message that sticks out this morning.  Simeon waited upon the Lord, he was given a mission and couldn't go until it was completed.  What is holding you back from going in peace?   This doesn't mean you are dying but are there things in your life that are holding you back from peace?  "Whoever hates his brother is in darkness; he walks in darkness and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes." 1 John‬ ‭2:11‬. It is soon to be a new year with a new beginning, can you go into the year in peace or has God given you a mission to complete.  Will you bring the Light  for revelation?

Dear Lord, I enjoy the calmning effects of a repetitive message, You never stop reminding us of being in peace.  You seek out ways to help us remove the darkness in our lives that hold us back from fulfilling Your mission for us.  Thank You Father for living in peace even in the all the noise that we are surrounded by.  Bless those waiting upon You, May they go in peace, knowing You are with them.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Mother Dearest, pray for us.

Matthew 2:13-14 12-28-2018 dailythoughts.com

"When they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him." Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt." ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭2:13-14‬

Are you a detail person?  Notice how Joesph got none of the details just an entire country he was to move his family too.  But Joesph was in union with God because he didn't ask why, where, how, he did as the Father had asked him.  He also journeyed with Mary and with Jesus, how can you go wrong when they are both with you.  In our own lives we must learn to trust God in all that we do.  There are times things maybe causing you stress but if you step back and realize God is with you, you do not need to know all the details just have faith, the Blessed Mother, and trusting in Jesus, your life will be just fine.

Dear Heavenly Father, our lives are much better when we operate in faith listening to You and trusting in Your direction.  You know what causes me stress and You are helping me realize that it is You orchestrating my life.   Thank You for Your friendship and Your guidance early in the morning and throughout the day.  Prayers for those learning to hear your voice help them see You don't paint a full canvas all at once.  In Jesus name, Amen.

John 20:8 12-27-2018 dailythoughts.com

"Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed." John 20:8

Can you imagine spending three years with Jesus, getting to know Him and yet still not believing in everything that He said. Living in the midst of all of it, they listened but did not hear. Then the Words of Jesus came alive when He wasn't there and He rose from the dead.

My thoughts turn to all those people who come to Christmas services, are they coming to an empty tomb or one filled with the presence of God? Seeing is believing, until I seen the Risen Lord and took Him home with me in my heart He didn't become real. "Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you." John 6:53

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray for all those that come in faith to celebrate Your Birthday, may they see the Risen Lord and bring You home with them. Help us slow down and think about Your life and how it is being revealed to us. Prayers for the coming year Lord, it is a new year and a new beginning, help me
contemplate my actions and thoughts so they are in alignment with Yours. I trust in You and look forward to what is unfolding. In Jesus name, Amen.

Matthew 10:17-18

"But beware of people, for they will hand you over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues, and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake as a witness before them and the pagans." ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭10:17-18‬

Merry Christmas, lots of empty boxes this morning and full tummy's.  Now we celebrate St Stephen, the second Martyr for the Church, Jesus being the first.  We all celebrate Christmas but do we believe in the Risen Lord.  Jesus tells us that one day we will have to choose.  You can see society trying to eliminate the religious views and just make Christmas a pagan holiday.  Will you let that happen?  Will you celebrate the life of the Christ Child by giving yours up for Him.  It is still the Christmas season but we are asked to contemplate thy will be done or my will be done.  God is with us!

Dear Father God, not an easy subject to contemplate after celebrating your birthday but one we must if we are to accept the life of a believer, otherwise our faith is no different than all the empty boxes.  Thank You Father for putting the desire in men to fight for their faith just as Jesus did, prayer and truth.  Give us a voice to speak up when called upon, strengthen our resolve and may we praise You in the synagogues.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Our Lady of Victory, pray for us.

Matthew 1:23 12-25-2018 dailythoughts.com

""Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel," which means "God is with us."" Matthew‬ ‭1:23‬

"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign; the young woman, pregnant and about to bear a son, shall name him Emmanuel."
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:14‬

Merry Christmas!  Have you unwrapped your gift yet?  There is such a joy to watch little ones filled with excitement and anticipation as they wait for Christmas morning.  What about us adults?  Do we feel the same?  I do, as much as I have learned there is so much more to unwrap and be revealed.  "God is with us", how exciting is that.  The journey of Joesph and Mary was not alone, they went with Jesus.  Jesus is the greatest Gift any of us can receive and once we have received Him then He goes with us.  That's exciting for you never know where He will take you.   Still not getting it, watch a little child, they are filled with awe and wonderment.  It is to these that Jesus will come too.  Merry Christmas, may the Holy Family lead you to ever lasting peace, they found it and so can you.

Dear Triune God, I enjoy our journey together especially when I get to see it through the eyes of a child.  Thank You for sending Your Son, thank You for being with us.  May I never be apart from You.  Living with You is the greatest gift, being at peace early in the morning is wonderful.  Happy Birthday Jesus, we are another year older and wiser.  I look forward to the coming year for You are with us.  Bless the family Lord and help us see how important it is to keep You as our guiding light.  I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Luke 1:78-79 12-24-2018 dailythoughts.com

"because of the tender mercy of our God by which the daybreak from on high will visit us to shine on those who sit in darkness and death's shadow, to guide our feet into the path of peace."" Luke‬ ‭1:78-79‬

"In the tender compassion of our God
the dawn from on high shall break upon us,
to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace."  Luke 1:78-79

"The dawn from on high shall break upon us", Mary's yes brought Jesus into the world.  Her journey with Jesus wasn't an easy one but it was filled with peace.  She placed her faith on God.  Receiving Jesus shines light into our darkness, He guides our feet into the way of Peace.  Christmas is a special time to spend with family.  Take some time and hide away, contemplate how has Jesus guided you this past year.  What areas has He transformed, what areas is He still working in?  There is peace in following His guidance, there is joy in following His path.  No matter your situation Jesus and His Family are always with you, leading the way.  May you find peace this Christmas season.

Dear Lord God, there is peace in trusting in You, in letting go and allowing You to be in charge.  You are still illuminating areas of my life that are in need of transportation and I am trusting in You for guidance.  Thank You for the blessings You have surrounded each of us with.  Prayers for those seeking meaning in Christmas, it is found in the solitude of our hearts along with Jesus.  Bless this day with Your presence and thank You for shinning in the darkness.  Amen.

Luke 1:43 12-23-2018 dailythoughts.com

"And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" Luke‬ ‭1:43‬

How was it that Elizabeth could recognize the Christ without physically seeing him?  Mary had barely gotten there and Elizabeth exclaimed the good news.  I sat in mass last night and contemplated the mystery of the Eucharist as the priest was celebrating mass.  Do we see the Christ when we come into His presence?  Even though He is hidden from our eyes, He is there, body and blood.  There is a joy in knowing that we too can make the same exclamation when we receive our Lord.  Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the mystery of Heaven and Earth.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for revealing Jesus in the mystery of the mass.  I pray more come to know You and exclaim the good news.  I pray for those that only go to mass a couple of times a year may see what Elizabeth seen and are filled with Your Holy Spirit.  Thank You God for allowing a blind man to see what is unseen.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Luke 1:46-47 12-22-2018 dailythoughts.com

"And Mary said: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:46-47‬

Not a whole lot of quiet time in my house this morning.  Lots of laughing and little feet running around.  We get to experience the greatness of the Lord in enjoying each other's company this time of year.  Even in the chaos of busy times we can step back and allow God to speak to us.  Mary was experiencing the greatness of the Lord with Elizabeth, John the Baptist and baby Jesus.  Take the time to enjoy each other's company, relish these moments in time and if there is conflict ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  God wants His family united and rejoicing in His creation, you and the family.

Dear Father God, lots of joy this morning, lots of laughter and silliness.  Help us experience You in all the family events we will each enjoy.  May we bring Jesus with us every where we go just like Mary and leave with experiencing You and Your creation.  Safe travels for all those on the road during this time as we await the coming of the Lord.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Luke1:45 12-21-2018 Dailythoughts.com

"Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:45‬

Mary gave birth to the Word Incarnate that His Word would be fulfilled.  Reading His word brings about joy and insight, we have the privilege of reading it, Mary had the privilege of hearing it.  Listening to God gives us insight especially when you are pondering the Word.  Be attentive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.  He is blessing you as He did Mary.  He wants to fulfill the scripture for each of us, like Mary, we must contemplate His Word.  Without Mary He couldn't have said: "Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."" Luke‬ ‭4:21.  Without you He will not be able to fulfill scripture for you or those that are to be blessed through you.  Have you said:"Yes Lord, I believe?"

Dear Lord, Christmas morning fast approaches, there is joy in listening to You and waiting with a sense of expectancy.  You seek to fulfill Your divine plan for each of us, we must be willing and attentive.  Thank You Jesus for the teachings, the whispers and the guidance You provide each day.  Prayers for those yearning to hear Your voice help them relax and wait patiently to hear.  Bless this day Lord, let the light of Christ shine through our eyes and our actions.  I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Luke 1:38 12-20-2018 dailythoughts.com

"Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her." Luke‬ ‭1:38‬

What captured my thoughts this morning was Mary's response acknowledging that she is full of grace.  She is pure in her love for God, her life was to live for God.  She lived this verse with her whole being: "Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with your whole heart, and with your whole being, and with your whole strength."
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:5‬.  What tells us that? The Angel Gabriel's acknowledgment of her:"And coming to her, he said, "Hail, favored one!" ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:28‬ and her response: I am the handmaiden of the Lord.  She didn't doubt, there was no duplicity in her, she has singularity of purpose to serve God.  Her betrothal to Joesph didn't get in the way.  Her relationship with God was pure, she willingly accepts whatever God gives her.  In our own journeys we must become like this, concentrate on a Godly life and accept what comes our way.

Dear Lord God, Our journey towards you is a gradual progression til we accept the things that come before us.   Help us grow deeper in our relationship with You, open up the scripture to its meaning and give us the desire that Mary has for You.  Thank You Father for the witness of the kids, they are full of joy and innocence.  Prepare them as you did Mary, to fall in love with You.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Mother of the Word Incarnate, pray for us.

Luke 1:10,20 12-19-2018 dailythoughts.com

"Then, when the whole assembly of the people was praying outside at the hour of the incense offering,

But now you will be speechless and unable to talk until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time."" ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:10, 20‬

I love the smell of incense, it is a practice that still continues today in the Catholic faith.  It brings back memories of my childhood when times were more traditional.  I can imagine Zechariah's senses highly charged when doing the incense offering and finding himself before the Angel Gabriel.  His humanness wanted to question what he was hearing, God was going to answer their long time prayers for a child.  He was in disbelief and questioned God and His response.  Zechariah's punishment was his silence.  He couldn't express his joy and excitement in words.  How many times do we pray to God for something, offer it up only to question God?  Prayer is powerful, God hears each and every prayer and responds to each and every one.  Reflect upon your prayer life, have you been silenced in your response to God because you have forgotten what you asked for or you didn't realize God answered your prayer but you missed it.  Should incense still be a part of our faith community or has God changed?

Dear Lord God, there is much wrong with our world, we get lost in all the newness but You are always constant.  I want to worship You that gives You honor and respect.  I thank You for the traditions that I get to take part in.   I thank You for hearing our prayers and for answering them.  There are a lot in need this time of year may we offer ourselves as best as we can.  Prayers for a friend that has an addiction problem, may You Lord make Your Presence known in his life.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Queen of Angels, pray for us.

Matthew 1:20 12-18-2018 dailythoughts.com

"Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her." Matthew‬ ‭1:20‬

I wonder how many times Joesph reflected back upon this dream when times got difficult?  "Do not be afraid", fear grips all of us especially when we venture into uncharted waters.  Joesph was playing the "what if" game, can you see the devil whispering in his ear.  He knew what God wanted and he uses fear to get in the way.  Thankfully God also knows what Joesph needed to fulfill his God given destiny.  We never journey alone when on a mission, learn to do it afraid and know God is with you.  We live in a world that needs fearless people who listen to God.  One other thing, there is God telling Joesph to take Mary into his home.  Jesus on the cross said: "Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his home." John‬ ‭19:27‬.  We are also to journey with Mary in our lives, is she part of your Christian journey?  God twice tells His faithful followers to take her into their home.

Dear Heavenly Father, there are many things in this world that can distract us from accomplishing Your will, give us ears to be obedient to Your voice.  Help us see the gifts and the preparation you have given us for the journey.  Joesph said yes but also faced many hardships after that.  May nothing distract us from Your mission and may we be blessed by You to run the race to the best of our abilities.  I know this is all you ask of each of us.  Thank You Father for your insight, may others learn to seek the deeper meaning, come Holy Spirit, come.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Mother of the Word Incarnate, pray for us.

Matthew 1:16-17 12-17-2018 dailythoughts.com

"Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah. Thus the total number of generations from Abraham to David is fourteen generations; from David to the Babylonian exile, fourteen generations; from the Babylonian exile to the Messiah, fourteen generations." ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1:16-17‬

"Our Father which art in Heaven", how important are our earthly fathers?  In the eyes of God, very important.  "The LORD swore an oath to David in truth, he will never turn back from it: "Your own offspring I will set upon your throne." Psalms‬ ‭132:11‬.  The role Joesph played was to teach and nurture the Son of God.  I am sure there are times they did not always agree but Jesus honored his father.   I attended a funeral on Saturday, a friend of mine was burying his father.  The Our Father took a new meaning as we said it.    Our heritage is important in our salvation, be sure to thank your father for his nurture and guidance.  Maybe it wasn't the best in your eyes but he was learning on the job.  Make amens if you don't see eye to eye, he will not always be on the other end of a phone.

Dear Heavenly Father, there is so much packed into the beginning of Matthew, there is more than meets the eye than just a bunch of names.  You unpack hidden meanings when we give You time to nurture and teach us at Your feet.  I am not sure where You are taking me but You already know I will follow.  Thank You for this day and for a earthly father that leads by example with the gifts You have given him.  Prayers for those that have lost a loved one this holiday season, may they cherish the fond memories and find comfort in knowing they are waiting on them to finish the race.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Luke 3:15 12-16-2018 dailythoughts.com

"Now the people were filled with expectation, and all were asking in their hearts whether John might be the Messiah." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭3:15‬

Can you feel the energy building, the expectations everyone has.  The children filled with excitement, parents doing all they can as they prepare, Grandparents making ready for the joyous occasion.  There is a lot of preparation that goes into Christmas, we celebrate it because of Jesus.  We can live with that same excitement and expectation all year round.  How?  By spending time preparing our hearts for God each day.  In this verse the people were filled with expectation, they were looking for the Messiah, they were ready.  We too must ready the way, listen to God, He will prepare you and fill you with joy.  That same set of wonder you see on a child's face can be yours all year.  "Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew‬ ‭18:3‬

Lord God, I love You with child like faith, You are my Heavenly Father and I am trusting You in all that I do.  You are greater in me than the world.  Come fill this vessel with awe and wonderment as we journey together.  Thank You for the witness of children, they are filled with joy and our only concerned about the now with hope for the future.  May I adopt this child like faith in my daily walk, I am trusting in You to get me there just like a child for I am Your child.  In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Matthew 17:12 12-15-2018 dailythoughts.com

"but I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him but did to him whatever they pleased. So also will the Son of Man suffer at their hands." Matthew‬ ‭17:12‬

In the busyness of the season and our everyday lives what signs are you missing in seeing the coming of Jesus?  The Jewish faithful were so busy they condemned Him to death.  Each day Christ is there in front of us asking us to give of ourselves.  To offer help to the man on the corner, to take time and visit someone lonely.  To give what He gives us, His love.  Time passes by quickly, another Christmas season has almost come and gone.  Are you seeing the coming of Christ every where you go?   "and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.'" ‭‭Luke‬ ‭3:6‬. The Jewish faithful missed His coming as well, don't be that guy.  All flesh shall see the salvation of God.  He is coming.

"Come Lord Jesus Come, Come live in Your people and strengthen them by your grace.  Give them the guidance of the Holy Spirit, health of mind and body.  Perfect love for one another and may all mighty God Bless all today, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Amen."

Matthew 11:16-17 12-14-2018 dailythoughts.com

""To what shall I compare this generation? It is like children who sit in marketplaces and call to one another, 'We played the flute for you, but you did not dance, we sang a dirge but you did not mourn.'" ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:16-17‬

What brings you joy, real joy?  There are so many distractions in life that if we are not paying attention or being obedient to the Master, we miss all the beauty that surrounds us.  Jesus lived with joy in his earthly life because He had a singular purpose.  Nothing distracted Him from His mission.  He paid attention to what was going on around Him and never lost focus.  We all go into the marketplace, it will distract us if we are not allowing God to guide our path.  True joy and happiness comes at being in His hand.

Dear Father, You are my happiness and my joy.  We walk together each day and the story You are writing is beautiful.  I see many things in the marketplace that can cause distractions but You are my purpose.  Prayers for those missing out on the beauty of life.  Thank You Father for painting the picture and allowing me to see the canvas a little piece at a time.  Come Lord Jesus Come, be our purpose and our Joy, Amen.

"From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent are taking it by force." ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:12‬

You can learn a lot when you teach and listen to others.  Whether we recognize it or not we are in a fight, a spiritual battle for our soul.  We do suffer violence because there are numerous distraction placed in front of us all the time, we are wounded and don't even realize it.(sin)  I asked the high school kids a number of questions to answer and there was a common answer to one of them.  How would their life be if they spent more time with God?  They all agreed it would be way different if they did but they said it was a challenge to sit in silence.   How do we defeat the violence in our lives?  We sit in silence and listen to the King of Peace.  This takes determination, it takes effort and it prepares us for what lays ahead.  Violence begets violence, fight the good fight as Christ does, with Love.  Whoever has ears ought to hear, take it by force.

Come Lord Jesus and overcome us with your gentle wisdom as we endeavor to sit at your feet.  Enliven our hearts and prepare us for the fight that You fought.  Help us to reach out to those in need.  Give your teachings action in our lives.   Open our eyes to the fight, help us to fight it with love and prayer, as we go into battle each day.  May we reach our hand out to all being wounded with kind words, a smile, a hug.  May Truth always be on our lips and may we take it by the force of love and the sacrifice of self.  To God be the glory, Amen.

Mary, Queen of Saints, pray for us.

Luke 1:38

"Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her." Luke‬ ‭1:38‬

Do you stop and think about the life of Mary after saying "yes" to the Triune God.  Almost immediately she was faced with hardships and challenges.  Joesph has to be told of what is going on within her.  The normalcy of her life changed rather quickly.  We know her story in God's word, she faced many hardships but her faith was always constant. What got her to the point to say "yes" never wavered.  Saying "yes" to God doesn't mean all of a sudden your problems go away.  It allows you to see that God is within and we need to trust in Him.  When things get difficult do we retreat or do we continue pushing forward and fulfilling the Word of God in our lives.

Dear Father God, there is no such thing as an easy life when saying yes to You, it means a life full of joy with a certain measure of challenges.  At times it seems like I am watching from a distance and seeing change at other times I am faced head on with those changes.  Your Blessed Mother lived a life of faith engaging with You, may we walk with her and learn as she did.  Thank You for the faith to trust in You in all things, smooth out the bumps and prepare us for what is coming in our own lives.   I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

Matthew 18:12 12-11-2018 dailythoughts.com

"What is your opinion? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the stray?" Matthew‬ ‭18:12

"What is your opinion?" Jesus seeks the input from His disciples.  He already knows the will of the Father, He knows what the right answer is but He demonstrates servant leadership.  He seeks to give others a voice, an opportunity to be heard, to be an integral part of the team.  In leadership do You seeks others input, do you listen to them or do you charge on not really concerned about what they think.  Jesus knew that His disciples had to believe and understand before they would adopt the will of God.  Leadership is as much as listening as it is doing.  God seeks your input every day, He seeks to give you a voice so He can also listen.  How can He help if you don't speak to Him.  What an awesome God to want to listen.

Dear Father God, I love the fact that you want to listen as much as you want to teach. Thank You for the love you demonstrate in action and the desire for each of us to come to know who You are.  Bless this day Lord and I know your ear is always listening, it is I who must speak.  Amen.

Luke 5:19 12-10-2018 dailythoughts.com

"But not finding a way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on the stretcher through the tiles into the middle in front of Jesus." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:19‬

Do you realize we are only two weeks away from Christmas Eve, where has the time gone.  I am envisioning those in the stores running around trying to find the perfect gift for a friend or relative.  What about the gift of Jesus?  The paralytic was paralyzed by sin, like all of us.   His friends knew Jesus could heal, what better gift than being placed in front of Jesus.  They didn't bring him in the front door, they lowered him through the roof.  An unconventional entrance but it was what the paralytic needed.  As you finish the last couple of weeks, who do you know that could use the healing touch of Christ.  Find an unconventional entrance for them so Christ can become their Healer.

Dear Heavenly Father, we spend time every year trying to find the perfect gift and You are perfect.  Help us call to You to find the unconventional entrance, open up the possibilities of Christ being the perfect gift.  Show us how to get in front of Him and allow the miracle of His healing radiate another life.  I see You at work and I am in awe of watching lives being transformed, You forgive our sins and bring us to a deeper understanding of who You are and what we are called to be; disciples.  Amen.

Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.

Luke 4:2-4 12-9-2018

"in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness. And he came into all the district around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins; as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, " THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, ' MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT." Luke‬ ‭3:2-4‬

We were asked a great question this past Friday; "what are you during this Advent to prepare for the Lord?"  Questions make you think!  They make you ponder your own actions and reflect.  Do we recognize the voice of God in our lives?  Will we really here God speak?  Or will we be challenged by something to apply our knowledge and operate on faith.  John the Baptist lived in the desert, his comfort zone so to speak.  Surrounded by the safety of what he knew but then God asked him to prepare the way.  To leave what was comfortable and give voice to the word of God.  If you are waiting for the perfect time, it will not come.  The  time to act is now so like John, we must operate on faith.  From my personal experience, God is always and I mean always, out in front.  Give voice to God and apply your knowledge by operating on faith. Prepare the way for the Lord.

Dear Father God, I see You making ready for the future.  I see you preparing us for what we are each called to do.  I see you stretching us and giving us the things that we need to give voice to You.  I thank You Father for always being there, I thank You for using others to give voice to Your Word.  I thank You for making paths straight and for revealing grace within Your Word.  You are making us ready for the coming of Christ.  Prayers for this day and blessings upon Your faithful servants.   In Jesus name, Amen.

Praise God for a spirit filled weekend.

Mary, Queen Mother, pray for us.

Luke 1:28 12-8-2018 dailythoughts.com

"And upon entering, the Angel said to her: "Hail, full of grace. The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women."" Luke‬ ‭1:28‬ ‭CPDV‬‬

I wonder what it was like to be born without original sin?  Would you be free from sinning?  Now wouldn't that be awesome but being born without original sin would not prevent us from sinning.  Adam and Eve, both created without sin, freely chose to disobey God.  Jesus and Mary, on the other hand chose to obey their Heavenly Father.  They had the same choices to make but chose God.  We too have to make those same choices each day to chose God or to chose to disobey.

Mary, our Blessed Mother, whom God chose to carry His Son, she sustained Him in her womb.  Her life giving blood and her yes allowed Christ to enter this world to save us.  She is highly favored by God, she is blessed amongst women, she is honored by God to carry Jesus, to care for Him and nurture Him as He grew up.  God honors Mary, her life of devotion is an example of how we are to respond to our Heavenly Father.  Is she highly favored by you?  She is by God, according to His Word.

Dear Heavenly Father, Your plan of salvation is so perfect, in its design you allow us the choice to follow or not.  You allow our disobedience to bring us back to You.  You give us a spiritual mother to care and nurture us if we choose too.  Thank You Father for knowing how to reach each of us.  I pray for those who are lost in their sin, those who are like Adam and Eve, who are freely choosing to disobey.  May they see the Mother of God caring for her Son this Advent season and be drawn back to You.  I ask this in Your Most Holy Name, Jesus, Amen.

Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.

Matthew 9:28 12-7-2018 dailythoughts.com

"When he entered the house, the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I can do this?" "Yes, Lord," they said to him." ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:28‬

Do we bring our own blindness to Jesus?  What about our blindness to prayer, do we see prayer working for us or are we blinded by our lack of faith?  Praying before Jesus and bringing our supplications before Him, He asks us the same question.  "Do you believe that I can do this?"  Prayer is transforming because You are asking God to intervene.  Prayer is powerful when we have child like faith and it is so easy to do.  Costs nothing than our time, can be done at any time and with faith, the blindness removed, you witness His power.   Yes Lord, I hear, I see, I believe.  Praise God!

"It is possible to offer frequent and fervent prayer even at the market place or strolling alone. It is possible also in your place of business, while buying or selling, or even while cooking." (Saint John Chrysostom)

Dear Lord, You know my heart this morning and You know my prayer today.  I know You and Your Holy Family hears all our prayers when we call upon them.  Remove the blindness to the possibilities of prayer, increase our faith by seeing You in action.  I thank You Lord for handling my life through daily prayer.  Prayers for my Uncle Paul, may He be resting in Your arms, watch over his family and ease their pain.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Mother of the Afflicted, pray for us.

Matthew 7:24 12-6-2018 dailythoughts.com

""Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock." Matthew‬ ‭7:24‬

How is your foundation?  Listening and prayer go hand in hand, listening to be honest is a bigger part of prayer than speaking.  God knows your heart, He knows your desires, He knows EVERYTHING!  Do you know His heart?  Listening is the key which at times can sting.  A firm foundation for a building requires excavating the dirt beneath the ground, the stuff no one sees. Removing the dirt that will not hold up the building is important.  Our prayer life with God is no different.  Sitting each day in prayer and listening reveals areas that God knows needs to be dealt with.  "For Jesus, the renovation of our lives takes place each day.  It involves patient listening and paying attention to how God is acting in my life.  Becoming a disciple doesn't happen overnight; it is a lifelong process of building."  Magnificat Thursday 12-6-2018

Dear Heavenly Father, I enjoy our conversations and especially the messages you give and how you give them.  I thank you for strengthening, excavating, building and renovating my interior soul through daily dialogue.  Prayers for all those listening to you and acting on Your Word.  You are my strengthen and my salvation.  Amen.

Mary, Mother of Love, Thank You for guiding us to your Son Jesus.

Matthew 15:32c 12-5-2018 dailythoughts.com

"I do not want to send them away hungry, for fear they may collapse on the way."" Matthew‬ ‭15:32‬c

Food for the journey!  Jesus knows the walk each of us must go, He wants to insure we have what we need to make it.  Do we rely upon Jesus and receive the bread of life that satisfies?  Are we preparing ourselves to receive Him this Advent season.   When was the last time you sat down with Jesus and had a heart to heart.  Told Him what was going on, confessed what is ailing you and removed the darkness in your life.  Confessions is good for the soul, it brings light back into your world.  As a Catholic, I have this opportunity, to receive sanctifying grace.  The Sacraments are gifts from Heaven, listen to your soul and partake in His saving grace and come back.  We all need food for the journey.

Dear Heavenly Father, I am blessed to be able to participate in Your divine life.  To be able to come to You and find rest in You, to receive what You know I need.  The noise try's to keep You away, but in You I find peace.  You satisfy my hunger.  Thank You for the stories, it brings joy to my heart to know that others are finding true happiness in You and Your Holy Family.  Bless this day Lord God, watch over our efforts and bless us with peace.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Queen of Confessors, pray for us

Luke 10:21 12-4-2018 dailythoughts.com

"At that very moment he rejoiced [in] the holy Spirit and said, "I give you praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:21‬

Can you envision Jesus rejoicing in the Holy Spirit?  Do you know you can participate in this same excitement and revelation?  I think back to my childhood and the excitement and awe Christmas was to me.  The anticipation of Christmas morning was unreal, it was the gifts under the tree that created that.  As I grew up, the truth was revealed and this awe and excitement went away.  This morning, as a close my eyes and contemplate His Word, that same awe and excitement is back because truth is being revealed.  Each day, with childlike faith, I sit at His feet.  There is something special to participate in His Divine life, to have a whole new world opened up to you, a little peek at a time.  "but Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."" Matthew‬ ‭19:14‬

Dear Father God, I sit in awe and wonderment as You stir my heart and mind.  I thank You for this grace and desire that only You can instill.  I thank You for the images and words that You allow to penetrate my spirit.  I thank You Father for the changes that are going on, the growth of Your Holy Faith, I thank You Father for this day.  I am Yours, use me as You will.  I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Matthew 8:9a 12-3-2018 dailythoughts.com

"For I too am a person subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me."‭‭ Matthew‬ ‭8:9‬a

Do we humble ourselves before the Lord?  Do we only come to Him in our times of need or do we recognize Him in all that we do?  I was a Eucharistic Minister yesterday and out of all those that received, there is one man that came forward and never looked up when he received Jesus.  The word humility popped into my head as I handed him Jesus.  Do we come to the Master with humility in our hearts and seek His divine intervention in our lives.  Do we give Him total control of our lives or do we carry those things thinking we can handle it.  Humble yourself before the Lord and give Him authority over you, let go of your pride and learn to walk in faith.  It will stretch you but the feeling is exhilarating.  Prepare for the coming of Christ this Advent season, invite Him in, in the mundane activities of everyday life.

Dear Lord God, it is a journey through time that we each have, our time is finite.  Draw us closer to You each day.  Strengthen our resolve to serve You and You alone.  Open us up to the newness of each day and allow us to see the Gospels in our own daily walk.  You walked with the Apostles, You also walk with us if we would humble ourselves, we can see You teaching us all the time.  Prayers for Sean Walker and his family, may He be reclining at the banquet of the Kingdom of Heaven and May he Rest In Peace.  Amen.

Luke 21:36a 12-2-2018 dailythoughts.com

"Be vigilant at all times" ‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:36‬a

I spent the day preparing the yard for Christmas, finishing up a manger for some new decorations.  I pondered these words on being vigilant and thought about the journey of Mary and Joesph, her cousin Elizabeth as well as Simeon and Anna.  Do we contemplate our own journeys and the coming of Jesus?  Preparing for Christ's triumphant return is done in our daily tasks.  We think in order to be Holy we have to act or be a certain way.  The Holy Family spent time dealing with many situations but always being attentive to God in their lives.  This Advent as you prepare for the Christmas celebration, journey with Joesph and Mary.  Live in the moment and allow the holiness of everyday activities prepare your heart for Jesus's return.  Contemplate how God has journeyed with you and has gotten you to this point.  His second coming will be a joyous celebration if you are preparing for Him.  Be always vigilant.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank for the opportunity to live in the moment and contemplate You in every activity.  I thank You for the grace You are giving and also for the Sacraments we are able to receive.  When we are present to You, we recognize You in the simplicity of everyday life.  Guide me this Advent season to grow deeper in my faith and to be open to the outpouring of Your Holy Spirit.  Bless this evening with peace and joy.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Make this Advent different, make a decision to journey with Christ each day, contemplate His words and give Him a place within.

Luke 21:35-36 12-1-2018 dailythoughts.com

"For that day will assault everyone who lives on the face of the earth. Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to escape the tribulations that are imminent and to stand before the Son of Man." Luke‬ ‭21:35-36‬

Are you prepared for that day?  Being in the presence of God each day prepares you for "that day!"  Will that day be a day of panic?  You know that feeling when you know you should of done something but just didn't get it done.  Or will it be a day of joyous celebration?  Just being present to our Heavenly Father each day opens up a new world to you, He prepares you to stand erect and be at peace.   If you recall when Jesus enters a room, He would say "Peace be with you."  Learn to live with the peace of Christ each day as you grow where He has planted you.   Daily prayer is key to "that day!"

Dear Heavenly Father, it is a good morning to just sit in the midst of Your presence.  In the silence of my heart I hear You and witness You in those around me.  Thank You for these moments of grace, to respond to Your call and to prepare myself for "that day".  May I never miss an opportunity to live in the moment and be at peace even if it isn't completely quiet, You are always there.  Praise be God, the King of my soul.  Amen.

Mary, Mother of the Holy Family, pray for us.
