"WEEK NINE: MIRACLES, SIGNS OF THE KINGDOM DAY 6
MORNING FACE TO FACE WITH GOD:
Begin with Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Prayer on Matthew 8: 6-10: Jesus heals the Centurion's Servant: "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully." He said to him, "I will come and cure him." The centurion said in reply, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed. For I too am a person subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come here,' and he comes; and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, "Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith."
Read the Reflection; then pray using Matthew 8: 6-10; ask for an intimate knowledge of our Lord, who has become man for me, that I may love Him more and follow Him more closely (#104)
1. I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof: We recite the centurion's prayer- request when we receive Holy Communion. Part of his unworthiness might have stemmed from being a Gentile into whose home no Jewish person would enter. But he felt unworthy because he had faith to realize he was in the Presence of God. He addressed Jesus as Lord.
2. Only say the word and my servant will be healed: So his faith in Jesus prompted him to make a simple and heart-warming plea to Jesus: Please heal my servant, Lord.
3. In no one in Israel have I found such faith: The centurion's faith was so compelling and extraordinary that Jesus is amazed. He sends home the officer and his friends, with the knowledge that his request has been granted." From Mold me as Your Disciple.

God the Father, the centurion had encountered God, he had pondered Jesus and he had experienced God. How else do you explain his comment: For I too am a person subject to authority. He living with the Jewish community had been listening as an outsider, he understood from his own experiences as a soldier what God was doing. He recognized the Messiah and had submitted himself to the authority of God. Not my will be done but thy will be done. God prepares us for our encounter, our lives are meant to draw us into His loving embrace if we would slow down and ponder our own realities. When we do, God reveals Himself.
What is God saying to you? Even on the outside, My words are penetrating hearts to reveal My existence to them.

Dear Lord, time to think is important in our world, we can become so busy that You are drowned out. Yet Your Word will accomplish what it was meant to do. I thank You for faith, Father, for loving me each day and revealing Yourself within the words of these stories. Help us to remember to forgive those who trespassed against us this week, to not hold a grudge but to forgive and to be patience with those that come at us. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

St Joesph, Terror of Demons, Pray for us.
