A Bible verse to begin or end the day with. Guided by the Holy Spirit, I publish a daily thought to help keep The Triune God in the center of my life and through out the day. I am not a biblical scholar just a normal guy that tries to live a Christ centered life. He will return, we are called to be His eyes, His hands, His feet, His Ears, His Voice and His Body. Daily Thoughts 3-31-2016 Luke 24:35-36
"Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread. While they were still speaking about this, he stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you.""
The scriptures are full of life, when we read them daily, it speaks to us. The breaking of the bread is what has been catching my mines eye. Jesus focuses our attention on the blessing and breaking of the bread, this was important to Him, Why?
Question, does your church focus on the breaking of the bread? Jesus sure does, especially during His last days alive and after His resurrection, why? "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 KJV

"And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight."
As I think about our culture today, it must be entertained. It seeks the easy way and the new and improved. People want a feel good faith, something they can see.
Jesus practiced the Jewish traditions, He honored God daily at various hours. He also passed along ways for us to honor God. It is not about self, it is about God. Do you recognize Jesus in the breaking of the bread? Does your heart burn for Him? Our faith gives us traditions and ways to praise Him, it isn't about the sermon, it is in receiving Him.
Dear Lord God, I thank you for another day, I thank you for yesterday and I look forward to today. May I always see you present in my daily activities and may I be a pleasing offering in your sight. In Jesus name, amen.

"But since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne,"
We just completed renewing our baptismal vows in church yesterday. We believe that Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. Why is there so many different faiths.
Just look at the Old Testament, God had a plan, He had a lineage for His Son that would honor Him, do you not think He would have a succession plan for His "one holy catholic apostolic church", that would also honor Him. Be bold, be Catholic, share your faith.

"Learn where prudence is, where strength, where understanding; That you may know also where are length of days, and life, where light of the eyes, and peace."
I am struck by the readings today, as we journey through them, there is meaning in what they are telling us. There is a lot to choose from but two things jumped out at me, God has a plan, history didn't happen by chance. There is purpose in everything, even in your life, He has purpose.
The other thing that struck me is relationship. This is what God seeks, Abraham had a relationship with God, they talked to each other. I believe this is the message He wants to pass along. Spend time speaking with Him, it is a learned process which takes time and effort. God continues to reach out to you, are you listening?
Lord God, I thank You for all that You do for us. I thank You for being present to us all the time. I thank You for the joy and for the suffering, I thank You for knowing and for not knowing, for understanding and for not understanding. You and You alone know what I need. Strengthen our faith Lord, give us hope and may we see Your Son when our journey is complete. Jesus, I trust in You, Amen.

Daily Thoughts 3-25-2016 John 19:37
"And again another passage says: "They will look upon him whom they have pierced.""
Good Friday, the day we remember what Jesus suffered for each of us. As a kid and even as an adult I didn't want to go to mass, didn't see the point. I didn't have a personal relationship with Jesus, today that is different.
I know what He did for me, I know that I caused some of His pain. I see things differently today. Some say Catholics glorify the crucifixion, no we realize what sin does to ourselves, the world around us and to Jesus. We all played a part in His death and we each pierced Him in our own ways. I choose to gaze upon Him today, will you?
Dear Lord God, the world still hurls insults on you, it still tries and wounds you, to no avail. You are what we all need. Our pain will go away and your joy will fill our hearts once we come to love you. Open our eyes so we can see, give us Your spirit Lord so we maybe able to help You. Daily Thoughts 3-24-2016 1 Corinthians 11:26
"For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes."
In our faith, how do we proclaim the death of Jesus? What was the death of Jesus this scripture speaks about? As I read it this morning, I gravitate to Jesus's death of self. He never lived for Himself, He lived to serve others. In three years He taught the world how to live.
At mass on Sunday when Jesus triumphantly returns, this is what we celebrate and He reminds us with the mans from heaven how to live. He feeds us with His flesh and blood to live. Be kind to someone today, bend an ear to a stranger, smile at a complete stranger. Acknowledge humanity and be the living bread of Christ.
Lord God, You gave us your life, You feed us with Your Holy Spirit. Help us be open today, to be a blessing to someone in need. I thank you for the beautiful rain this morning and for what lies ahead. I trust You with my life, may it be pleasing to You, in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Ghost, Amen.

"He said, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The teacher says, "My appointed time draws near; in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples."'
Jesus was always prepared for what was coming, He knew how to feed the multitude with very little, He knew how to ready Himself and the world for what was fixing to happen. Do you ever get the sense He is doing that now?
I have never seem so many that are hurting, or dealing with a sick family member. People are being given the opportunity to slow down and think again. Pay attention to what is going on around you. Will He be in your house? Have you prepared a place for Him or are you too busy?
Lord God, you are worthy of all our love, help us see what you did for us. Help us follow you each day. Strengthen our faith and heal our pain. Only You can provide what we need. Thank you Abba Father for sending your Son to take our place. May we honor You with our own lives, in Jesus name, amen.

Daily Thoughts 3-22-2016 John 13:37
"Peter said to him, "Master, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.""
In today's Gospel, Jesus says "one of you will betray me", why didn't He say two. We know Judas betrayed Him but Peter also turned his back on Him. He was given the chance to lay down his life three times and he couldn't do it, he played it safe.
Peter was relying upon his own strength to lay down his life, this is probably why he couldn't follow the master. Peter still had the control, he hadn't let go yet. He was able to lay his life down later, what was the difference?
Lord God, I love you with all my heart, yet I am still weak. You know what I need and I trust in you. Help me today to be the person You need me to be. I thank You for your blessings and for drawing us in closer to your passion. Bring us peace in our actions and mercy in Your presence, Amen.

"[The] large crowd of the Jews found out that he was there and came, not only because of Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. And the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too,"
Holy Week, the journey home begins. It may seem like a strange question but are you threatened by Jesus? Peter must of been for why would he deny Him three times. To follow Jesus is to go beyond our own boundaries, to be an example as Lazarus was.
We numb our minds with frivolous stuff not really paying attention to our surroundings. We focus on our own comfort while ignoring how it impacts others. Make this week different, turn off the noise and just be docile, listen for God. Maybe you don't believe, what do you have to lose? Nothing and the worst that can happen is you will gain some peace.

"The Lord GOD is my help, therefore I am not disgraced; Therefore I have set my face like flint, knowing that I shall not be put to shame."
There is a lot of pain and suffering in the world today. No different than during the time of Jesus. Every one wants a quick fix, they want their problems to go away. Our trials and tribulations draw us closer to God and His Son.
As you think about your world, recall what Jesus was feeling this coming week. Joy and jubilation to be replaced with pain and suffering. He was never alone for Jesus knew who had his back. God knew what was needed to conquer sin and as much as it pained Him, He offered His Son for us.
Jesus is the cure the world so desperately needs.

Jesus is the cure 3-19-2016 Hebrews 12:12-13
Hebrews 12:12-13
"So strengthen your drooping hands and your weak knees. Make straight paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be dislocated but healed."
REFLECTION:
As we are soon to begin Holy Week, let us get our spiritual body in shape. Get rid of all of the distractions we have and make room for Jesus in our heart, mind and soul. If you have done wrong and sinned, now is the time to reconcile yourself, make your soul clean and pure. The weight of sin is making you lame and off of the path of Jesus, the path of salvation. Let Jesus lighten your burden so that getting back on His path can be accomplished. Sin is what keeps us away from being in full communion with Him and now is a time of renewal and Jesus can make you new again. In Hebrews 12:7, it is written,"Endure your trials as discipline; God treats you as sons. For what "son" is there whom his father does not discipline?" The trials we go though makes us form a disciplined behavior and it is this behavior that is the foundation of being a good Christian. Offer your trials up to Jesus so that you can fully appreciate all He has done and continues to do for you.
PRAYER:
Most precious and merciful Jesus, let me prepare myself spiritually to be in full communion with your suffering and death so that I may be worthy to celebrate Your glorious resurrection. You are truly the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world and I am eternally grateful for all of Your love, compassion and mercy. In Your name, amen

Daily Thoughts 3-18-2016 Psalms 27:1-3
"Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The LORD is my life's refuge; of whom should I be afraid? When evildoers come at me to devour my flesh, These my enemies and foes themselves stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart does not fear; Though war be waged against me, even then do I trust."
I read this verse last night as I was going to sleep, it spoke to my spirit. Everyday we all face situations that are not comfortable. Trust in God, He has prepared you or a really good friend, to help you on your journey.
Your future is what you make of it, a future with God and His will is much better than without God or doing my will. Take some time during the day and thank Him for where you are at. He is there for you at all times. Slow down a bit and realize that it will all be ok, He has you. You are not alone.
Dear Heavenly Father, i place my trust in you today. I am thankful for all that You are doing in my life. There are some things I don't quite understand but I know you have me where you want me. My I relinquish my will to Yours and my I be docile and submissive to Your will today. In the name of Jesus, amen.

"That is why I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.""

"But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.""
You ever catch yourself saying, I could never do something like that. We ourselves can be so self righteous not realizing what the other person was going thru that got them in that situation.
When someone has done something wrong do you condemn them or do you look upon them with compassion like our Lord did. We all sin and sin separates us from Christ, I don't think God grades sin.

"So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said, "You know me and also know where I am from. Yet I did not come on my own, but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true."
Are you faithful to God's Word? I spoke to someone yesterday that was going through some troubles. Life was beating him up and you could say, he had fallen with his cross. During these times we realize what is important, God wants us to be faithful to Him.
This person began to pray and seek God, isn't that what we all do when in need. He noticed things started changing. His cross was easier to carry, his spirit was better and opportunity began to knock.
If we are to know Jesus then we will need to open His word and read it. Be faithful to God and see what happens. And if we know Jesus we will know the Father.
Dear Lord God, You are faithful to us every day, guide our steps to realize what is important in life. Help us carry our cross so we may honor you. Heal those in pain Lord God and Thank You for another day. In Jesus name, Amen.

"Moreover, the Father who sent me has testified on my behalf. But you have never heard his voice nor seen his form,"
Jesus wasn't glorifying himself when He walked amongst us, He was following direction from His Dad. God is the Father and Jesus is the Son. Lately I have been thinking about this relationship. As a son you want to please your father and as a father you want to be proud of your son.
God as Father, can you imagine sending your son into battle knowing how He will be treated. In today's readings, the God of Moses wanted to send down His wrath. Now He lets His Son receive the wrath of others, for us. That is love, how much more love can a Father show you? Trust in Jesus, what ever you can not handle give it to Him.
Lord God, You know what to do, You know what we need. Help us in our afflictions. Help us see your will for us and help us see Jesus as the cure. I thank you for walking with us each day and showing us the way forward. May we glorify you with our lives. In The name above ever other name, Jesus.

"My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit; a contrite, humbled heart, O God, you will not scorn."
Sorry, isn't always easy to say. You may feel justified in not having to say you are sorry. Is that a contrite and humbled heart? Knowing who you are is the beginning.
To be able to stand before God and truly be sorry is a blessing. God knows what we are capable of yet He forgives us, He will never turn us away. Be open to God's mercy, stand there with a contrite heart and accept His grace of true forgiveness.

The psalms are such a beautiful book of the Bible. Do you know that Jesus knew this and obeyed His word. We have such a rich tradition in our faith. Kneeling before God is showing our respect to the Lord who made us.
Who is the Lord? This is the title given to Jesus the most in the Bible. Since Jesus is the Word, do you think that He knew what this verse truly meant. Spend some time reflecting on this verse and let God speak to your heart. You are His people and His people hear His voice.

Is your life a sacrifice to God? I have never really thought of it in that way as far as my life being a sacrifice to God. I used to only think about God on Sunday and maybe during the week for a minute or two.
If we are walking with God each day, He is guiding our steps. We can take pleasure in the small events knowing He trusts us to do His work. Your day is planned for you, trust in the life God has given you. Jesus's life wasn't perfect either but His Father was always first.
