"Vanity of vanities, says Qoheleth, vanity of vanities! All things are vanity!"
What do you treasure? Is it status or possessions or power and control or the will of God. The things that are important in life is what Jesus showed us, love of neighbor. We can become too attached to our possessions that they get in the way.
All these things are fleeting but the love of Christ is ever lasting. Guard against that which is vain. Your self worth isn't tied to any of it, in fact if you look at Jesus's disciples they sacrificed everything to follow Him.
Dear Lord God, I know I am vain in certain parts of my life, help me let go of those fears. Help me see what you see in me and others. I thank you for Your daily guidance and I pray I can follow as Your disciples did. I ask this through your Son Jesus Christ, Amen.

Daily Thoughts 7-30-2016 Matthew 5:10
Matthew 5:10
"Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Do you speak up when an opportunity presents itself? Do others know where you stand in your faith. I think this is what God asks of us. To speak up and live our faith, to wear it on our sleeves. It gives others strength.
I am not sure why God lead me to this scripture but you can see it being fulfilled right now. If you look around the world, there are those being persecuted for following Jesus. History has a way of repeating itself, Rome was conquered by acts of dedicated love not war.
Dear Heavenly Father, give us strength today to do your will. Watch over us and show us how we can become better in our actions. Protect the innocent and guide us today so we may honor You with our actions. Bring peace into our lives and those that we meet, in Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts 7-29-2016 Luke 22:44
Luke 22:44
"He was in such agony and he prayed so fervently that his sweat became like drops of blood falling on the ground.]"
God as man, I think sometimes we think God does not know our pain but He was Son of man in the flesh. We each have our daily struggles, Jesus was in agony for these struggles. Do you ever stop and think, what was Jesus thinking about when he was in the garden?
We need to slow down and realize that God has already conquered our battles, He has fought the fight for us. We must let go and let God. His prayer is that you hear Him and listen to Him. Stop and think of your actions, do they grow the kingdom of God or so they diminish the kingdom. I know I need to slow down and realize that my actions have real consequences.
Lord God, You know us intimately like no one else. Speak to our hearts with Your word. May we realize that the tongue has tremendous power, may we use it to build up, may we use it to honor and praise you. In the garden you saw the pain we were causing to your Kingdom, may we see what you saw and help us forgive and forget. I ask this in the name above every other name, Jesus Christ, amen.

Jeremiah 18:4
"Whenever the vessel of clay he was making turned out badly in his hand, he tried again, making another vessel of whatever sort he pleased."
Are you pliable? Do you allow God, the potter, to mold you? He never stops working with us, as I look back I can see His hands at work. I didn't understand but now I can see.
We must be pliable in order for God to make us perfect. We must be willing to allow Him to work in our lives. Being rigid causes all kinds of imperfections and He has to start over.
Lord God, mold me today in to your creation. I pray my spirit does not get in the way. Help me see where I need to be and guide my steps. Grant us peace with the direction You have for our lives, overcome our fears and may Your light shine thru us. I want to be clay in Your hands. Amen.

"Why is my pain continuous, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? To me you are like a deceptive brook, waters that cannot be relied on!"
You ever notice when you hang onto something that it seems to grow. It could be the simplest thing that causes irritation but over time it grows. We seem to add to our difficulties without really trying because we won't let go.
We must be willing to let go of our past pains, to give them to Jesus and ask Him to heal you. It is such a simple thing but once again we make it so hard. God's response to this question begins with "If you repent", so he tells us how to let go, confessions, are you listening?
Prayer for healing.

"And the apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith.""
The only word that comes to mind this morning is faith. Every time we turn on the TV, we see the lack of faith in action. The fault of our problems lies in our own lack of faith.
Jesus Christ is the corner stone, if this is what your foundation is built upon then you have someone to anchor too. We live at a time others want to deny Him, stand up and claim Jesus. Do not water down your faith, like the apostles ask the Lord to increase your faith.
Dear Lord Jesus, hear our prayers this morning. Increase our faith, increase our love for each other. Do not let us fall prey to the schemes of the devil. Open the hearts of those in need to hear You and be healed. Help us treasure what is important in life and may we be a blessing in Your kingdom today. I thank You for the example of others that You have placed in my life to live lives of dedicated love. I ask this through Jesus Christ, Amen!

Daily Thoughts 7-25-2016 2 Corinthians 4:11
2 Corinthians 4:11
"For we who live are constantly being given up to death for the sake of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh."
I was asked to speak yesterday at mass for the upcoming God's embrace retreat. I have to say I did not want to do it but I also knew that it is not my will but His will. What about you, what are you being asked to do and are letting your own will take charge?
Today's readings speak to dying to self so Christ may live in us. We are not capable of great things but Christ that lives within us is. Ask the Holy Spirit to take charge and give you direction, place your will at the feet of Jesus and then get out of the way. It is Christ within you that will be the difference.
O Heavenly Father, come into our presence and show us how to live our lives so we may honor You. Bring peace and consistency into our thoughts. Help us die to self and be willing to give of ourselves, just as Jesus did. He is the great example, may we follow His example and glorify God. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Luke 11:1
"He was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.""
"Teach us to pray", Jesus lead by example, He found a quiet place and sat in the presence of God. What about you, what is your example saying to those around you? Do you find a quiet place to speak to God.
Our lives are always busy and there is always something to do. Find a time to bring you into God's presence. Persistence is one of the messages in today's readings. This is how God teaches us when we are persistent in coming before Him. Find the time, even on Sunday's.
Dear Lord, I thank you for Your persistence with me. I thank You for the people that You bring into my life. I Thank You for teaching me how to pray. Grant us Your graces through prayer, send us Your Holy Spirit to guide us and let not our hearts be troubled with what is going on in the world. I ask for a special prayer this morning for the family that lost their son in a four wheeler accident recently. Heal their pain Lord and give them peace. In Jesus name, Amen.

"Stand at the gate of the house of the LORD and proclaim this message there: Hear the word of the LORD, all you of Judah who enter these gates to worship the LORD! Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Reform your ways and your deeds so that I may dwell with you in this place."
How do you worship our God? Is it reverent? Is it with respect? Is it forgotten after you have left church on Sunday? Do you even go to church?
Lots of question but have you considered how Jesus worshipped His God during His life? I can assure you, He knew His Jewish faith and customs. Our soul is always searching for the love of Christ. When we find it we can not get enough. It is like a marriage over time the love only grows stronger.
There are many that are seeking but do not know their spirit is aching for God, the flesh is leading them astray. True happiness is only found in Christ. Realize this and seek Him all the days of your life. He will guide you through out life.

Understanding, do you realize the depth of knowledge that the spirit is giving you? Do you dig deeper for its meaning? Just because it doesn't come to you right away should you set it aside. You should chew on it, think about it and ask for its meaning.
Our Lord wants us to seek it out, to know its meaning but He also wants you to work at it. As you listen and read the jigsaw pieces will come together. The Holy Spirit will give you insight, It is Jesus that gives us the living water, drink up.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the understanding you give us. Thank you for your gifts and the desire to know more. Help us today as we go out into the world, guard our hearts and minds. May we allow your will to be stronger in us and our will to step aside. Give us the grace of patience and compassion to see others were they are and be able to help them. Our power comes from God, we must learn to listen to His voice and heed His words. Too many of us try and make our way in life without God. God is constant in our lives, it is us that relies on our own power.
It is God working through you that will be the difference in your life. Be a radio station for Him, just make sure you are tuned into the right channel. It starts the minute you wake up each morning.

Micah 7:18
"Who is a God like you, who removes guilt and pardons sin for the remnant of his inheritance; Who does not persist in anger forever, but instead delights in mercy,"
Do you ever see someone's pain and just want them to see how easy the answer is? There are times we want to blame someone else for what is going wrong with our lives but the problem isn't' outside, it is on the inside.
God is always at the ready to take you back, all you have to do is ask. Be willing to humble yourself and ask for His mercy. It is the most rewarding experience you will ever have but it does take effort on your part. Allow Jesus to delight in you.
Lord God, I thank You for walking with me today. I thank you for your times of respite and to follow Your direction. I pray for those on the prayer list, be by their side and give them comfort. Heal their afflictions Lord God. Allow us to be open to Your Spirit today Lord, may we carry You every where we go, Amen.

"You have been told, O mortal, what is good, and what the LORD requires of you: Only to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God."
Walking humbly with God is to keep Him ever in your thoughts. Not easy as we are always being bombarded with stuff throughout the day. But it isn't your power it is your will to walk with Him. You have to want to walk with Him.
With Jesus in your heart, you will seek ways to do goodness and to do justice. To look on others and do as you would have them do unto you. Live with compassion and see what Jesus sees. Ask God to use you today, to be His messenger to someone in need and then just go about your day.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for another day, I thank You for joy in my life. I thank You for the struggles that will make me stronger. Be ever by my side and walk with me, show me how to be humble in Your presence. May I do the good that You ask of me today, in Jesus name, Amen.

Proclaiming Jesus, how are we called to do that? We can tell others about Jesus but I think it is better if we show them Jesus. Do your actions demonstrate Christ in you? Do you live in hope, ever lasting hope?
If your hope is eternity them the day to day challenges should not get in the way. It is Christ in you that gives you strength. Spend time in the morning in His presence, become stronger for the day ahead. You are His, proclaim Him with your life.
Dear Lord, give me strength to overcome my selfish ways. Allow me to see what I need to change and be that change for me. I thank you for your message each day. I pray I am doing right by you with my actions. Give us all the grace to overcome the day to day challenges so we can focus on You, in Jesus name, Amen.

Psalms 10:14
"But you do see; you take note of misery and sorrow; you take the matter in hand. To you the helpless can entrust their cause; you are the defender of orphans."
Yesterday was an interesting day, spoke to a man fighting cancer who was at peace with what ever God had in store. Ended the day by going to a rosary for a little nine year old boy, which didn't make sense to me, he was so full of life.
None of us knows what tomorrow brings, we can hope and plan for it but only God knows. All a person can do is place their trust in God, it is He who has the master plan. Pay attention to those around you, reach out and share God's saving grace. Without Him you are in for a Very Rough ride!!
Dear Lord God, you are the keeper of my soul, it is you I place my trust in. I thank you for listening and knowing my thoughts. I place myself in your hands, for without you I am nothing. Bring peace to the aching hearts Lord, give them wisdom to trust in you. I ask this through your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Who does your heart belong too? There are too many that are concerned with the rule of law that they miss the spirit of the law. Compassion is what Jesus had on all that He came in contact with. We see the outer self but He sees the inner self.
Lean on Jesus and ask for His guidance with someone in your life that is being difficult. Jesus always knew how to cure someone that was sick. "The one that is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." If you are His temple than carry Him with you and see what He sees.
Dear Lord God, open the eyes of our heart. Lead us with your thoughts today, let us not be troubled with all that we see with our eyes. Engage our spirits to walk with you Jesus and bring light into a dark place. Be our example and let us not forget the spirit of the Law - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Amen

A lot of times we take life for granted, we do not realize how precious life really is. God knows how precious our lives are, He sees all things, everything. Nothing is hidden from Him.
He hears the cry of His people and He does not neglect them. He sees their pain and sees what holds them captive. Turn to God and seek His help, speak with Him in the morning. Heaven is the prize to the victor and hell for those that ignore our God and His teachings.
Dear Lord, I struggle this morning to understand why but I know you are God and know all things. Heal your people O'God. Turn their hearts to you, hear their cries and give them peace. Help us realize we are all part of one body, the body of Christ. Direct our steps today Lord and open our mouths to praise you. In Jesus name, amen.

Daily Thoughts 7-13-2016 Isaiah 10:13
Isaiah 10:13
"For he says: "By my own power I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I am shrewd. I have moved the boundaries of peoples, their treasures I have pillaged, and, like a mighty one, I have brought down the enthroned."
Where does your power come from? Is it you that gives you abilities? Is it you that makes things happen in your life? If God wants something to happen He will make it happen or not happen. Sometimes we get the big head and think it is all us.
Slow down and realize that it is God that gives you your gifts. Honor Him with your time, reach out and speak to Him. Sometimes we don't need God when it seems to be going good, well it won't always be that way. You will hit a bump and know that you have no power and then you need God. Don't wait for that, speak to Him now.
Dear Lord God, you are so good to us and so patience. I thank you for being in my life, I thank you for my days starting with you in my thoughts and on my tongue. May today be a day to honor you, may I be the person you made me to be. May my will take a back seat because I need you in my life. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Isaiah 7:9b
"Unless your faith is firm, you shall not be firm!"
There are a lot of things that happens in a persons live, most of it good but some of it bad. What do you dwell upon? Is it the good or the bad. We are always under attack especially when you are making progress.
Stand firm in your faith, know that God is in control. Do not fall prey to the schemes of the devil. He tempted Jesus constantly but never once did Jesus waiver. Let go of what holds you back, this is the devil working on you. Give it to Jesus and stand firm.
Dear Lord God, be our protection today. Send your word out today to accomplish your will. Strengthen our faith Lord and help us see. Where we are weak make us strong. Bless your people with joy today, the joy that surpasses all understanding. I ask this in Jesus name, amen.

Daily Thoughts 7-11-2016 Matthew 10:42
Matthew 10:42
"And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because he is a disciple—amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.""
How do you see the other person? Do you see their trials and tribulations, do you see their joys or do you even see them. We often times miss opportunities to reach out to the other person because we our focused on self or a situation.
See with God's eyes, don't add to their pain, give them something to quench their thirst. Give them hope, give them a smile, give them a piece of you. Jesus wants us to see what He see and to see with compassion. You will not see each other the same once you see with His eyes!
Dear Lord God, I love you with all my heart, I ask for your guidance today. I ask to see what you see and respond as you would respond. Help us on our journeys Lord and may we be like the Good Samaritan and stop and help. Bring peace into our work places and into our homes. Let your love shine today Lord Jesus. In your most Holy Name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts 7-9-2015 Isaiah 6:8
Isaiah 6:8
"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?" "Here I am," I said; "send me!""
What is your answer? Is it the same as Isaiah? "Here I am, send me". We each have a choice each day who we are going to live for. Is it yourself or will you live for Christ?
We live in really strange times, you turn on the tv and it just feeds you more of the same. Turn to God for your news update. Put good into your thoughts all the time, then go into the world and help the lost find their way home. God still asks the same question, "Whom shall I send? Who will go for us"
Dear Lord God, you have blessed us with another day. Fill your laborers with faith, hope and charity as you send them into the fields. Bless this world with peace Lord, bless it with love, not love of self but the love that Jesus showed us. I ask this in the name above every other name, Jesus Christ, Amen"

Daily Thoughts 7-7-2016 Hosea 11:4
Hosea 11:4
"I drew them with human cords, with bands of love; I fostered them like those who raise an infant to their cheeks; I bent down to feed them."
Does God still do this today? Of course He does, I believe He uses people everyday to reach out to them. You never know that something that you have said or done has made a difference.
I can recall speaking to a stranger and getting the sense that the message was direct from God. I believe this is the human cords that this verse is talking about. God never stops trying to reach His children, can't you see that? Love never fails!
Dear Lord God, you are real, you do exist if we would but look. Help us see you in action, help us hear your voice. Guide our steps today to make this world a better place. Guard us from falling into the trap of the world. Thank you for giving us the word and the desire to read and understand it, in Jesus name, Amen.

"For now they will say, "We have no king! Since we do not fear the LORD, the king—what could he do for us?""
Free will, we can believe in our own power and not recognize where our blessings come from. Job had everything and honored God, then it was all removed yet he still sought out God. He knew who was King.
What about you, do you have a king? Are you the king or is God your King? One day we will stand before the King and be judged. On that day all will tremble for they will know that the kingdom of God is at hand. Do not let your free will get the better of you!

Daily Thoughts 7-5-2015 Matthew 9:37-38
Matthew 9:37-38
"Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.""
If you think about it, is it much different now as it was back in Jesus's day. Everyone is looking for someone to show then the way. Just turn on the TV and someone is saying follow me, I have the answer.
You know better, Jesus is the answer. You are the laborers that Jesus speaks about. The opportunity will present itself and you have the true shepherd to follow. All you have to do is listen, ask God for help and then act, pretty simple and you won't even have to sweat.
Dear Lord God, I honor you today with my life, use me as you see fit. May I decrease so you may increase. I thank you for your graces and I look forward to what the day has to offer. May you send out laborers into the fields and use their everyday lives to show others the way to Jesus. I ask this through the one true Shepherd, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Can you imagine going thru live with a problem that just won't go away, I imagine you get to a point you learn to live with it but still want it gone. Then you hear about the power Jesus has and you think maybe this is the answer.
She reached out to Jesus, she sought Him out and took action. Thats what Jesus asks of us, have faith and reach for Him. Have faith in Jesus, He is the cure we all need and want.
Dear Lord God, we have a lot to be thankful for this day. Help us see how blessed we are to live where we live. Give us the courage to always seek your Son Jesus. May we always know that Jesus is the answer. I ask this in your most holy name, Jesus, Amen.

"Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you,"
Peace, you ever just sit and listen to the surroundings. From what you hear it will let you know if you are welcome or not. No point in staying someplace you are not welcome.
The good Lord gives you angels to watch over you so accept what God gives you. He has prepared you for the journey, know that wherever that is, you will find peace and feel welcome.
Dear Heavenly Father, may we recognize where we are at and pay attention to what you give us. May we always trust you even when it just isn't coming. Your peace is what we all seek. Amen.

"People do not put new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. Rather, they pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.""
The world is in need of being made new, there is peace in being made new only by Jesus. Because it is Him you have faith in. It is He who shows you the way so no matter what you are facing know it is Jesus who leads the way.
You are made new again by the blood of Jesus. Jesus is the new wine and it is He who makes you new. Let that shine thru this weekend, let others see that newness in your step and your actions.
Dear Heavenly Father, it is You that gives us freedom, freedom from the world. May our Hope be placed on you Lord so others may see the way. I thank you Lord for a beautiful morning, bless your people Lord with peace this weekend. Give them hope in their lives and may they be preserved by the Triune God, in Jesus name, Amen.

"Go and learn the meaning of the words, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.""
What is Jesus telling us? We can go thru life being pious and honoring God and completely miss the point. How do you treat others, especially those that can be difficult.
You are the body of Christ and how you respond lets others see His mercy or something else. Mercy given when it isn't deserved maybe just the thing that they need to see Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father, you showed us the way while with us, may we never forget what we are called to do. I ask for the strength to be merciful when my mind is wanting to do something else. May I see what you see in those times. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
