Ecclesiastes 1:2
"Vanity of vanities, says Qoheleth, vanity of vanities! All things are vanity!"
What do you treasure? Is it status or possessions or power and control or the will of God. The things that are important in life is what Jesus showed us, love of neighbor. We can become too attached to our possessions that they get in the way.
All these things are fleeting but the love of Christ is ever lasting. Guard against that which is vain. Your self worth isn't tied to any of it, in fact if you look at Jesus's disciples they sacrificed everything to follow Him.
Dear Lord God, I know I am vain in certain parts of my life, help me let go of those fears. Help me see what you see in me and others. I thank you for Your daily guidance and I pray I can follow as Your disciples did. I ask this through your Son Jesus Christ, Amen.
