"Seek good and not evil, that you may live; Then truly the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you as you claim. Hate evil and love good, and let justice prevail at the gate; Then it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will have pity on the remnant of Joseph." Amos 5:14-15
What is freedom? Today we celebrate as a country our independence from England. I ask you are we free? As a country we achieved what we wanted yet in the process we have enslaved its own people. What about our own lives, we seek freedom from this and that only to enslave ourselves. True freedom is found in Christ Jesus. "that creation itself would be set free from slavery to corruption and share in the glorious freedom of the children of God." Romans 8:21. "Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with your whole heart, and with your whole being, and with your whole strength. Take to heart these words which I command you today." Deuteronomy 6:5-6. It begins in the heart, Then it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will have pity on the remnant of Joseph. So what is freedom, I believe this is freedom for it is what Christ lives and died for: "None of us lives for oneself, and no one dies for oneself. For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's." Romans 14:7-8. Let freedom ring over this land, which was founded upon Godly principals.
Dear Father God, You have blessed us to live in a land with tremendous opportunities, may we live for you in all of them. May we cherish the life that You give us, May we praise You for all that we have and what we do not have. May we see the things that enslave us and keep us from You. You are God, I am under Your authority and I enslave myself for Your Holy purpose. May I be an obedient servant for the one who died so I may live. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Our Lady of Good Help, pray for us.
