"MORNING FACE TO FACE WITH GOD:
Begin with Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Prayer on Luke 1: 31-33; 38: The Annunciation: "Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end...Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word" [Please read Luke 1: 26-38 for a better appreciation of the passage].
Read the Reflection; then pray using Luke 1: 26-38; ask for an intimate knowledge of our Lord, who has become man for me, that I may love Him more and follow Him more closely (#104)
1. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus: Through the Annunciation to Mary, the final age has been inaugurated (Hebrews 1: 2-3). The angel's opening statement reveals the depths of God's love and appreciation for Mary: "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you." A more accurate translation of the Greek kecharitomene, would be Hail, the one having been filled with grace (the past perfect participle). Mary is the immaculate one, without sin because full of grace, who has been chosen to be the mother of Jesus, Son of God.

Mary, being full of grace, pondered the words the angel spoke to her. These words were not new but words she had heard before, now they were playing out in front of her. Being highly favored, she knew the will of God, she understood the Word of God, she knew there was a holiness to her spirit. Her relationship with the Father was a covenant relationship and so was her understanding.
2. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end: The angel offers Mary three awesome truths to ponder for the rest of her life: Jesus, her son to be, is the Son of the Most High. Secondly, Jesus will come from the tribe of David, and will rule over the house of Jacob as Messiah. Thirdly, He will create a new Israel, which will not be an earthly kingdom, and the reign of God in men's hearts as Emmanuel, will last forever.

The Angel Gabriel speaks clearly and clearly speaks of who the of Father of Jesus is, Mary not having relationships with Joesph gets a clear understanding of Jesus's lineage. The Torah speaks of the house of David, the Fathers throne and the Son who will given it. The magnanimity of these words for Mary must of been overwhelming.
3. Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word: When Mary knows clearly what God's designs are, she is totally obedient to God's will. Perhaps the most enduring quality of deeply committed disciples is their total obedience to God's intentions, even when they threaten the very fabric of their existence. Trust is the bedrock of their relationship with God. This is especially true of Mary."

Even at this early age, Mary had been prepared to give birth to the Son of God. Her free will to work and trust in God had been developed. Her yes was a natural yes, not clearly knowing the future but knowing how good God has been to her. Each of us has the choice to say yes or no to holiness, it doesn't happen all at once but a daily trusting relationship with our Father in Heaven brings it about. Love the life God gives you with saying yes to Him.
What is God saying to me?
