Week 19 - The Journey Day 6

Week 19 - The Journey Day 6

"For John the Baptist came neither eating food nor drinking wine, and you said, 'He is possessed by a demon.'"  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭7:33‬

Jesus calls out the fake-news of His day. "This is the one about whom scripture says: 'Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, he will prepare your way before you.' ‭‭Luke‬ ‭7:27‬  Why is it that someone who stands against the culture of the day needs to be demonized?  Jesus speaks truth, John the Baptist speaks truth yet those in power and control were threatened by both.  It wasn't God they were seeking but their own power and control.

In discerning spirits do they go along with the culture or do they stand against it and threaten their power.  We can see this play out in our world today, the world denying truth, the truth that God gives us.  Compare the two, one seeks the ruin of our souls and seeks to control us, the other seeks our salvation and gives us free will to know the Truth.  Even Jesus had to deal with fake-news and He did it with love not condemning.   "The poor and the oppressor meet: the Lord gives light to the eyes of both."  ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29:13‬

What is God saying to me?  Stand the test of time, do not give in to the falsehoods that are in the world.  My Son is truth.

Dear Lord God, things haven't changed much since You walked this earth.  They still work at deceiving and denying the truth that You give us.  Prayers for all those who are being deceived spreading the lies they have come to believe in.  Prayers for a world that will encounter You in their hearts and come to know Truth.  Thank You Father for our time this morning, to see Jesus stand against the lies of His day.  Give us courage and conviction with love to do the same in ours.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 19 - The Journey Day 5

Week 19 - The Journey Day 5

"In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out in a loud voice, "Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!" Jesus rebuked him and said, "Be quiet! Come out of him!" Then the demon threw the man down in front of them and came out of him without doing him any harm."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭4:33-35‬

An encounter with Jesus, in the presence of the Holy One of God, the evil spirit must bow to the authority of Christ.  A new beginning for the man who had embraced the evil of the world, who had taken the apple and believed in its lies.  The man was in the synagogue, maybe with head knowledge but not heart knowledge until he encountered Jesus.

The longest Journey ones makes with God is from the head to the heart.  It is in seeking Him when we encounter Christ, Jesus cast outs the unclean and then enters in to take up residency.  Life with Christ is filled with Hope and joy, the life that we live is to glorify our Creator not the king of the world.  In our journey when you are seeking Christ even in the motions, He will come.

What is God saying to me?  I am transforming your world as we travel together.  I hear your prayers and they are being answered in My time.  Continue in the presence of My Holy Spirit.

Dear Father, in our travels, You are greater in all things.  It is You that puts these thoughts, hopes and prayers within.  It is You that gives me the desires and drive to live what I am called to do.  Thank You Father for faithful followers worshiping You in Your holy temple.  Prayers for those consumed with worldly desires, suffering on the road to Calvary.  Bless this day, thank You for the gifts of this day.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 19 - The Journey Day 3

Week 19 - The Journey Day 3

""The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free,". Luke‬ ‭4:18‬

Bringing the Word of God to life, Jesus reads the Old Testament that testifies to the truth in the presence of those who have yet to see, to see the Son of God in the flesh.  The in dwelling of the Holy Spirit brings about boldness within a person, their mission is not to be hidden but to reveal the truth, to proclaim the good news and for the salvations of souls.

You are a different person when you live in the Spirit.  Jesus came to life as the Son of God when the Spirit of God came upon Him.  He revealed His identity and the power of God in action thru truth.  We each have this charge in our world, to save our soul and empower the living God to save souls.  When God is in charge, you are living in freedom and there is boldness in your actions.  Jesus proclaimed The Truth.  Is the Spirit of God upon you?  If not, ask for it.  Nothing happens until we are willing.

What is God saying to me?  Live My faith in you.

Dear Father, You move mountains when we get out of the way.  I have witnessed You in others as they Journey, I see the Spirit of Truth live within when they are cooperating with You.  We live in a dead world when Christ is not present, it is a fake world built upon lies.  Prayers for boldness and conviction in our spirit that is demonstrated in Love.  Bless this day and this morning as You continue the teachings of Your Holy Spirit, Amen.

Week 19 - The Journey Day 2

Week 19 - The Journey Day 2

"Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭4:14‬

God the Son, in perfect union with the Trinity, did not operate on His own power but in the power of the Spirit.  The Son of Man's power is of the holy Spirit, even though Jesus is God, He came to show us how to live, how we can become adopted sons and daughters.

Why?  Why does God the Son wait upon His holy Spirit?  Obedience to His word.  "Then he said to me: "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, and not by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts."  ‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭4:6‬

In our journey with the holy Spirit, He teaches us His word, He teaches us His nature and He gives us the words of everlasting life.  As a man, I am nothing, I am like the dew in the morning and gone before you know it but Jesus as a man, shows us truth.  His message today and what His life represents is truth and obedience.

In my own why of thinking, I will get it wrong for I will twist it to form to my way of thinking.  But if I am willing to submit myself to God's authority then will I comprehend the depth of God and His teaching.  Jesus came so we can have life and have it abundantly.  Living in the power of the holy Spirit brings about that abundant life.  Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4b

What is God saying to me?

Dear Lord God, only through Your word do you shed light into a dark world.  In the power of Your holy Spirit we see and hear Your voice so we be faithful servants for You.  I pray for the lost, held captive by the other spirit that moves about the world.  Release them from the binds if it's chains in the mighty name of Jesus and the power of Your Holy Spirit.  It is a spiritual battle Lord and we need Your holy Spirit each day as we go into battle, especially in these times.  Thank You for the Your Son's example and we be ever present to You this day, Amen.

Week 19 - The Journey Day 1

Week 19 - The Journey Day 1

"Filled with the holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert".  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭4:1‬

The world Jesus lived in was transformed, His way of life was changed when He was led into the desert.  Have you experienced this?  What was normal is now no longer normal, in fact it is foreign.  Jesus was brought into the desert so His world could be made new.  God takes us away from the norm so we can understand what is going on around us.  The desert doesn't have to be the actual desert, I look back and the desert was transforming the world I lived in so I could see what had been influencing my life.  Was it God or was it not of God.

The Israelites were driven into the desert, their way of life was being changed, no longer slaves now they were free.  In this freedom, we listen, we hear and the question becomes are we obedient?  Do we desire what is of God or are we drawn back into our old way of life.  God drives us into the desert so His holy Spirit has influence on us.  We listen and respond and experience peace even in the stuff or we ignore, deny, worship false idols and experience pain and agony so we are better prepared for our next desert experience with His Holy Spirit.

Life is the great educator, God is patient and He will get our attention thru the joys of life or through the vail of tears.  He loves us that much that He allows us to suffer so He can become our comfort and strength in all situations, even death on a cross.  The Journey encompasses all.

What is God saying to me?  "Sent forth his word to heal them, and snatched them from the grave."  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭107:20‬.  Read Psalms 107 again, in My Word, I quench the thirsty and satisfy the hungry heart.

Dear Lord, Your mercy endures for ever.  In a world that denies You, You pull us out into the desert and give us hope for tomorrow.  You listen to our cries and respond with Love.  Your son was ready, his life had been prepared so His wisdom could impact the world around him.  Thank You for the blessings of the desert, for the joys of life and for the sufferings that make us ponder why and what is next.  You never abandon us and in the trials You are loudest for it is then that we are ready to listen.  Prayers for a friend in the fight, I pray for Your grace to shine upon Him.  May the fight not overwhelm him and may he find solace in Your everlasting word.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 18 - The Journey Day 7

Week 18 - The Journey Day 7

"After all the people had been baptized and Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, heaven was opened and the holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭3:21-22‬

Luke is the only one who mentions that Jesus was praying after He was baptized with water.  This for Jesus was a new chapter in life as man, He had done what needed to be done up until this point but now God, His Father was calling Him.  As man, He did not know what tomorrow held other than what was written in scripture.  I pondered Jesus's prayer, what was the prayer He was having with His Father?  Did He have knowledge of the Holy Spirit and the power the Holy Spirit has?  Yes!  The holy family had taught Him well.

Prayer is the best way to speak with God, to speak what is going on in you and then listen to God and hear what He has to say.  Did Jesus ask for power of the most high to come upon Him?  Or did He know His time had come to reveal our Father and the glory He had placed upon Him?  Jesus knew who His Father is, He knew His story, He knew what had been written about Him and He knew He was just a man who needed His Father, needed and wanted His help.

What is God saying to me?  Total trust was what was in the spirit of the Son of Man, He did not fear tomorrow, He did concern Himself about today, He willingly accepted what came upon Him for He knew the love that I have for Him and for you.  Be blessed today as you live the life that we have given you, do what needs to be done and always trust in My Divine guidance.  Even Jesus needed prayer in His earthly life.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespassed against us. And Lead us not into temptation but delivery us from evil, Amen.

Novena to St. Michael the Archangel
Novena Dates September 21 - 29, Feast Day September 29

St. Michael the Archangel, loyal champion of God and His people, I turn to you with confidence and seek your powerful intercession. Novena to St. Gabriel the Archangel
Novena Dates September 21 - 29, Feast Day September 29

St. Gabriel the Archangel, I venerate you as the "Angel of the Incarnation," because God has specially appointed you to bear the messages concerning the God-Man to Daniel, Zechariah, and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Give me a tender and devoted Mother, more like your own.

I venerate you also as the "strength from God," because you are the giver of God's strength, consoler and comforter chosen to strengthen God's faithful and to teach them important truths. I ask for the grace of a special power of the will to strive for holiness of life. Steady my resolutions, renew my courage, comfort and console me in the problems, trials, and sufferings of daily living, as you consoled our Savior in His agony and Mary in her sorrows and Joseph in his trials. I put my confidence in you.

St. Gabriel, I ask you especially for this favor: (Mention your request). Through your earnest love for the Son of God-Made-Man and for His blessed Mother, I beg of you, intercede for me that my request may be granted, if it be God's holy Will.

Pray for us, St. Gabriel the Archangel. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us Pray. Almighty and ever-living God, since You chose the Archangel Gabriel from among all the Angels to announce the mystery of Your Son's Incarnation, mercifully grant that we who honor him on earth may feel the benefit of his patronage in heaven. You live and reign for ever. Amen.

Novena to St. Raphael the Archangel
Novena Dates September 21 - 29, Feast Day September 29

Holy Archangel Raphael, standing so close to the throne of God and offering Him our prayers, I venerate you as God's special Friend and Messenger. I entreat you, therefore, to help me in my struggle against the world, the spirit of impurity, and the devil. Defend me from all dangers and every occasion of sin. Direct me always in the way of peace, safety, and salvation. Offer my prayers to God as you offered those of Tobiah, so that through your intercession I may obtain the graces necessary for the salvation of my soul. Week 18 - The Journey Day 6

Week 18 - The Journey Day 6

"John answered them all, saying, "I am baptizing you with water, but one mightier than I is coming. I am not worthy to loosen the thongs of his sandals. He will baptize you with the holy Spirit and fire."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭3:16‬

John has spent his life being prepared to share what was given to him in his mother's womb, the gift of the Holy Spirit and the fire of love.  The Journey that John has been on is now coming to fulfillment and Jesus is the one who gives us His Spirit.

It is the journey that prepares us, John's life has been spent being obedient to the will of God.  There was no magic pill that led to a perfect world.  The Journey with the holy Spirit is the perfect world.  A thirsty world looks for the easy path and John having traveled the path of life is doing what he loves to do, share the joy of being touched by God's divine nature, the Holy Spirit.

What is God saying to me?  The fire of My love is what gives you life.  The path is not easy but after each turn or rocky climb you come away stronger.   There is purpose, stay the course on this crooked road.

Dear Father, You prepare us out in this desert wasteland, showing us what is truly important and what is fluff.   I thank You for the difficult moments, for the trials and opportunities to grow as a person.  I thank You for those we Journey with, without them it would not make sense.  Prayers for a world looking for the easy way when it is just the opposite.  Bless this day, may we be ever faithful to You, in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 18 - The Journey Day 4

Week 18 - The Journey Day 4

"The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:40‬

Have you ever pondered the humanity of Christ?  Why would Jesus need the favor of God upon him?  Why do we need the favor of God upon us?  We most definitely need His favor and so did Jesus.  How? then becomes the question.  Jesus lived a righteous and holy life within the protection of the holy family.  Church was an important part of their life, worship and daily prayer were an instrumental part of their life.

When we live in ways that reflect His perfect creation God can not but shine His favor upon us for we recognize all as blessings along the journey.   Jesus is the perfect way, the new Adam that provides the example.  Watch the humanity of Christ, see how Jesus responds in a world denying the deity of God and we like Him will respond in ways that please the Father.   Our faith will grow, we will become strong ourselves just like the child Jesus, all the way to the cross.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, such a peaceful morning watching creation go about living perfect lives and reflecting their perfect creation.   Thank You for the insights into the humanity of Christ and the perfect role of the family.  Prayers for greater devotion to You and our own roles within the lives that we live.  May they lead in the direction that only Your favor fall upon us.  I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Week 18 - The Journey Day 3

week 18 - The Journey Day 3

"He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him,".  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:27‬

The power of God within.  What happens when we study scripture?  God forms us and our thoughts.  Simeon spent his life in the word of God, it transformed him and it is part of him.  Listen to what he says when he holds the Word in the flesh.

"he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: "Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.""  Luke‬ ‭2:28-32‬

We can spend a lifetime knowing about God, studying this, that or the other.  Or we can open ourselves up to God and invite him in.  It is the Spirit of God within that transforms hearts a little each day.  Simeon and the Spirit are one in spirit.

What is God saying to me?  Do not worry on what to say, when the time is right I will give you the words to speak.  You are My child, My student, My ardent disciple.  Do not be afraid.

Dear Lord God, I see You speak within, I see the Spirit move within Your people, Your faithful servants who listen to Your voice.  Bless us with wisdom that has stood the test of time, fill our hearts with the gift of life.  You have the words of everlasting life that brings peace into a weary world.  Bless this day, bless our souls with Your love.  Prayers for those who are struggling, going it alone in a world that beats them down.  I ask this in Jesus name, amen.

Week 18 - The Journey Day 2

"Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:25-26‬

Listening to God, He speaks, do we hear Him.  Do we recognize when God enters our life through a stranger with a helping hand.  Do we see the love He has for us when we are searching for the answers, and He is right there.

We don't know much about Simeon's life but we do know he is devout, he spent time in His presence.  We know he is righteous, following the will of God, he wasn't caught up in the world.  We know he trusted God and listened to His voice.

The world we live in could use more listening skills, could learn a lot about the joys of being devout to God.  The Holy Spirit is that voice that guides His faithful along their righteous path.  Listen to God, He cares way more than we know and through the hands of another He will answer.  Look at Simeon as He awaits His reward.

What is God saying to me?  It is not by chance that you encountered My Holy Spirit, you were ready to listen.

Dear Father, blessings rain down in a world that does not see.  Your Holy Spirit is the guide that speaks in whispers and gives grace upon grace when we respond with what we have been given.  Thank You Father for an extraordinary day, blessed by Your creation lost in the desert.  My prayers go out to them, may they be blessed as Simeon was blessed.  Prayers for a family mourning the loss of a husband and a father, comfort them in their time of need.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 18 - The Journey Day 1

Week 18 - The Journey Day 1

"The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the desert until the day of his manifestation to Israel."  Luke‬ ‭1:80‬

My thoughts turn to Zechariah and Elizabeth, John's parents.  They were in the desert, barren without child yet their faith carried them through even though they doubted the glory of God, Doubt is part of faith.  Now their faith has been rewarded with answer to their prayer.  I can see Elizabeth praying for an end to her misery, not giving up hope and believing in God.

John became strong in spirit, the Spirit had been passed on to his parents and now him.  "But the Lord's mercy is from age to age, toward those who fear him. His salvation is for the children's children". ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭103:17‬.  How different would John's Journey been without the gift of Holy parents?  Do we recognize that we are in the desert, our children are in the desert, our grandchildren are in the desert?  The way to survive the desert is the substance of God's Holy Spirit.

Zechariah and Elizabeth were nourished by God and were ready for their day of manifestation.  John the Baptist was nourished by God and was prepared for his manifestation.  Are you in the desert being nourished or is the sun just sucking the life out of you.  Start your day with open arms being fed on the journey of life by GOD.

What is God saying to me?  "Start the day with open arms."  I add sweetness to life that brings about joy.

Dear Father, Hallelujah what a blessing to start my day with open arms, You are present before me even as my eyes are barely open.  Thank You Father for the grace of Hope, for the grace of forgiveness, for Your willingness to long suffering so we may come to the depth of Your love for us.   Prayers for our children to be raised by Holy parents, the journey through the desert 🌵 is much shorter when You are our guide.  Bless us Lord with Your Holy Spirit, protect us this day and be ever before us.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 17 - The Journey Day 7

Week 17 - The Journey Day 7

"And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying:". ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:67‬

Nine months without a word spoken from his mouth, all Zechariah had was his thoughts and his inner voice.  Silencing ourselves is good, it gives us time to think and draw upon what God is saying to us in our lives.   If you listen to what Zechariah says, he goes through history and reveals God's spoken word.  He has had time to think about what is going on and now filled with the mysteries of God, he speaks.

""Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and brought redemption to his people. He has raised up a horn for our salvation within the house of David his servant, even as he promised through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old: salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us, to show mercy to our fathers and to be mindful of his holy covenant and of the oath he swore to Abraham our father, and to grant us that, rescued from the hand of enemies, without fear we might worship him in holiness and righteousness before him all our days. And you, child, will be called prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give his people knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God by which the daybreak from on high will visit us to shine on those who sit in darkness and death's shadow, to guide our feet into the path of peace.""  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:68-79‬

His son, the child, he and his wife had been praying for will be the one preparing the way for Jesus, the Messiah.  The Israelites had been waiting for the coming promise.  Are you waiting on the second coming of Christ?  Are you pondering God's word in the silence of your heart.  Are you seeing what God is doing in your life and the world around you.

What is God saying to me?  Forever is forever.

Dear Father, there is something special about the silence that we find ourselves in.  The opportunity to see what is going on around us and in us.  The noise of this world can de deafening which drowns out the mysteries of Your coming glory.  I thank You for never being far away, for speaking through Your word and my life.  I may not always see but I seem to always hear even when we are silent.  Prayers for a friend battling depression, may they see the glory of Your infinite mercy, may they experience Your loving heart and may they find rest in You.  Bless this day, bless our movements, our words, and our actions, in Jesus name, amen.

Week 17 - The Journey Day 4

Week 17 - The Journey Day 4

"And Mary said: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:46-49‬

Rivers of living water flowing out of Mary, she is giving what has been given to her.  Mary had been in love with God for a long time, she understood His word, she was waiting upon the coming Messiah.  She is the pure vessel, filled with love for God that would give birth to the Son of God.

"The hidden things belong to the Lord our God, but the revealed things are for us and for our children forever, to observe all the words of this law."  ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭29:28‬.  Mary's relationship with God was being revealed, her canticle was her life and she knew God's word.  This child was living her faith in God.  Her relationship with God had been since her birth, God was not foreign some far off deity, she had lived with Him daily, in His word.  A marriage vow isn't sprung upon a stranger, at least in my thinking.

What's the message for us?  Read God's word, have an intimate relationship with God and His Church.  Mary gave birth to Jesus, God in the flesh and His Church.  Learn from her way of life, it can be a hidden relationship, when the time is right God will reveal it.

What is God saying to me?  These are real people you are pondering upon, they have real emotions and lived their faith in ways that are pleasing to Me.

Dear Father, I thank You for the insight into Mary and her walk with you before she encountered the Angel Gabriel.  We as well have a walk with you that prepares us for our future, may this walk be fruitful, may it honor You and like Mary, may our souls proclaim Your greatness.  Prayers for a friend that is being buried today, prayers for his family and friends, he loved You Father and he was never at a loss for words.  May he rest in Peace and may You be shining upon him, Prayers for our country and our world in a battle for life, conquering sin, Amen.

Week 17 - The Journey Day 2

Week 17 - The Journey Day 2

"When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:41-42‬

Two miracles together united by God.  Elizabeth a faithful woman had been given the answer to her prayer, a child, we know she loved God but now six months later that love had grown.  She was filled with His Holy Spirit, can you imagine her joy after so many years of waiting.

Mary arrives and Elizabeth knew immediately that she was in the presence of holiness.  Where does this knowledge come from?  The holy Spirit.  She knew without a word being said that Mary had been chosen for God's plan.   The years spent studying and having a conversation with God had prepared Elizabeth for her journey.

God does not always answer our prayers right away, some times it takes years.  Our faithfulness to God and trusting in Him alone brings about God's perfect timing.  Elizabeth in her old age needed Mary, and Mary, in her youth, needed Elizabeth.  The holy Spirit orchestrated all of this over their lifetime unbeknownst to each of them.  They were just following God's plan faithfully each day.  That's the message.  "Blessed is the man who perseveres in temptation, for when he has been proved he will receive the crown of life that he promised to those who love him." James‬ ‭1:12‬

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, You give us great examples of holy people living Godly lives in the midst of trials and tribulations.  I praise You this morning for this conversation, I thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit.  Prayers for a good friend that went home yesterday, I loved his wit and tenacity Father, reward his faithfulness.  Watch over us this day, keep us faithful to You and Your plan, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 17 - The Journey Day 1

Week 17 - The Journey Day 1

"And the angel said to her in reply, "The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God."  Luke‬ ‭1:35‬

I pondered the awesome power of God these mornings and Mary, the one who received His gift of life.  "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel."  ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:14‬.  The gift of life, the gift of a holy life.

Be holy for I am holy.  Leviticus 11:44.  God set Mary apart from the world, her life has prepared her for this holy event.  God was not foreign to her, she had an intimate relationship with God the Father.  "And coming to her, he said, "Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.""  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:28‬  Mary was not oblivious to the grace God had given her and she also knew God was with her, there was no doubt in her mind.  How else do you explain her reaction.

Elizabeth knew, she "cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:42‬.  Her and Zechariah had doubted the awesome power of God in their lives but she knew Mary was special.  Mary had followed the will of God for her life, she had journeyed with the Holy Spirit.  When we do this life is different, it brings about a Godly purpose.

What is God saying to me?  Keep on the path, holiness does not come easy, it takes resolve, dedication, to avoid the obstacles that are being placed in front of you.  I am allowing this to happen to strengthen you on the journey, listen I speak.

Dear Father, I hear You talk in the midst of the stuff, even in the quagmire You are there insuring the way forward.  I thank You for the words of wisdom, the desire and ability to listen.  Thank You for the blessings of this day and those that You have placed within my life.  Prayers for Your intentions, may they come to fruition as You are laying down the path.  Watch over this day, give Your angels guard over us and may we be a pleasing offering back to You.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 16 - The Journey Day 6

Week 16 - The Journey Day 6

"He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of fathers toward children and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to prepare a people fit for the Lord.""  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:17‬

The Journey of one isn't a journey of one, when you have experienced the Holy Spirit there is a desire for others to know Him as well.  I believe this to be evidence of His existence in your life, for the other is more important than self.  If we look at John the Baptist life, he demonstrates this.  It wasn't self he was concerned about, this is part of the journey.  Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b

What is God saying to me?  Give it time, understanding self is part of the journey, the fight is real.

Dear Father, it is a beautiful morning, taking it all in and listening with a attentive ear.  You see the battle and You know the future, it is in cooperation with You that we move forward.  Thank You for another day to be in Your presence, thank You for blessing of family and friends to journey with.  Prayers for a friend who fought the good fight, without him we would not be where we are at today, may he hear the words, "well done good and faithful servant."  He never went alone and shared what brings him joy.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 16 - The Journey Day 4

Week 16 - The Journey Day 4

"But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall name him John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, for he will be great in the sight of [the] Lord. He will drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the holy Spirit even from his mother's womb,  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:13-15‬

Filled with the Holy Spirit.  We have been talking about receiving the Holy Spirit, what happens when we have received and are filled with Him.  The angel Gabriel is speaking of the future, God nor His angels operate in time. "He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of fathers toward children and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to prepare a people fit for the Lord.""  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:17‬

John was blessed to be born into a faithful home that worshipped God.  He was raised with the power and knowledge of God.  He was filled with the Holy Spirit in his mother's womb.  All these play a role in his journey and our journey.  The angel Gabriel speaks in the affirmative, it will happen.  The same is true in our lives, God answers prayers and He does give us His Spirit.  You can see the change in yourself, you can see how you are responding to God, you see His word in action in your own life.  Your thirst is being quenched for that is how God operates, where He is, is Peace.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, You give us a hunger for truth, within several verses is a wealth of truth that reveals itself when we sit with it.  Thank You Father for going forth and shining light into the darkness bringing about healing and making way for Your Holy Spirit.  Your Spirit fills us with truth, the world reveals lies to deceive and distract.  Make us aware of Your will in our lives and bring us to repentance for the times we walked away.  You are loving and forgiving, only wanting to fill us with Your Holy Spirit.

Week 16 - The Journey Day 4

"And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit."  ‭‭John‬ ‭20:22‬

"Peace be with you."  The events of the past few days would have been overwhelming, now your friend, your teacher, the one who died is standing in front of you, speaking with you.  God the Son is in our midst, the glory of God is in their midst, the resurrected Christ.

He does not impose His will, He gives what was given to Him and the disciples are given the grace to say yes or no.  I imagine them in the room, in a sense of awe, and them trying to figure it out.  I was there and it is the trust that God seeks.  Will I listen to His words and respond in the affirmative.  I did and the Journey has been completely different.  When our minds are blown, it is our faithfulness to His word that carries us forward.  Jesus the Holy Spirit has only started to teach the disciples.  "Receive the Holy Spirit."

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, You were in the room and I didn't recognize You.  You know what we need so we respond in the affirmative.  This life is only a blip in time and is only the beginning.  Without Your Holy Spirit we are lost, it is Your Holy Spirit that enables us to say Yes to You.  Give us the grace and faith when our minds are blown, bring peace into the room when life has been turned upside down, when nothing seems the same.  Bless this day Lord, keep us safe and watch over us as You always do.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 15 - The Journey Day 2

Week 15 - The Journey Day 2

"When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, "It is finished." And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit."  John‬ ‭19:30‬

The Son of God hands over the spirit, was that His earthly spirit or the Holy Spirit?   "Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross."  ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:6-8‬.  Jesus as Son of Man has accomplished His task, our salvation, excepting our sin and He being the sin offering.

Jesus is true God and true man, as a man in union with the Holy Spirit, He became our sin.  As man, Jesus needed the Holy Spirit to do what He did.  There is a crisis of faith in this world for we do not understand the power God gives us, in and through the Holy Spirit.  "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been purchased at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body." ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:19-20‬

Jesus had to show us how to live in a world full of sin without sin.  "He said this in reference to the Spirit that those who came to believe in him were to receive. There was, of course, no Spirit yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified." John‬ ‭7:39‬.  Jesus has been glorified and St Paul gives us the keys so therefore glorify God in your body.  Jesus handed over His earthly spirit.

What is God saying to me?  Am I living in the way that glorifies God?

Dear Father, I am thankful for the gift of Your Holy Spirit, I am thankful for His protection, His wisdom and His guidance.  Prayers for a friend struggling with their faith, may You empower them with the same power Jesus received in the River Jordan.  Prayers for our country and culture, may Your Holy Spirit awaken the faithful to the fullness of life in You and with You.  Bless this day Father and he ever in us and our thoughts.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 16 - The Journey Day 1

Week 16 - The Journey Day 1

"But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you." ‭‭John‬ ‭16:13-14‬

"He will speak what he hears."  You ever been in a conversation and your are listening and also thinking about what you are going to say.  Pay attention to yourself today while in conversation, are you really listening or are you formulating a response.

The same is true in our conversation with our Triune God, we read scripture and we respond but are we listening with the heart?  Quiet reflection with silence as the backdrop and being attentive to the voice of the Holy Spirit, this is where true knowledge comes from.  As a priest friend of mine says, "LISTEN, shut up and listen."

"What is God saying to me?"  That's God's question to you, stop what you are doing, read the scripture and listen to God.  It takes practice.

What is God saying to me?  Your life is meant to glorify Me, to give thanks for the beautiful creation that you are.  I do not make or create junk, you are Mine and I Am yours, we both know it.  This is the only truth that truly matters, all else revolves around it.

Dear Father, another glorious morning in prayer surrounded by friends if only others can come to this understanding then the world can live in peace if only for a moment in time it will be worth it.  Thank You Father for answered prayers, for allowing the Advocate to operate within.  To reveal truth in a world full of lies that at times I use to justify my actions.  You are God, You are my Father and I love You.  Thank You for allowing me to listen, You are at rest within Your temple that hands did not build.  I praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost, Amen.
