"Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord." Luke 2:25-26
Listening to God, He speaks, do we hear Him. Do we recognize when God enters our life through a stranger with a helping hand. Do we see the love He has for us when we are searching for the answers, and He is right there.
We don't know much about Simeon's life but we do know he is devout, he spent time in His presence. We know he is righteous, following the will of God, he wasn't caught up in the world. We know he trusted God and listened to His voice.
The world we live in could use more listening skills, could learn a lot about the joys of being devout to God. The Holy Spirit is that voice that guides His faithful along their righteous path. Listen to God, He cares way more than we know and through the hands of another He will answer. Look at Simeon as He awaits His reward.
What is God saying to me? It is not by chance that you encountered My Holy Spirit, you were ready to listen.
Dear Father, blessings rain down in a world that does not see. Your Holy Spirit is the guide that speaks in whispers and gives grace upon grace when we respond with what we have been given. Thank You Father for an extraordinary day, blessed by Your creation lost in the desert. My prayers go out to them, may they be blessed as Simeon was blessed. Prayers for a family mourning the loss of a husband and a father, comfort them in their time of need. In Jesus name, Amen.
