Week 17 - The Journey Day 2
"When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb." Luke 1:41-42
Two miracles together united by God. Elizabeth a faithful woman had been given the answer to her prayer, a child, we know she loved God but now six months later that love had grown. She was filled with His Holy Spirit, can you imagine her joy after so many years of waiting.
Mary arrives and Elizabeth knew immediately that she was in the presence of holiness. Where does this knowledge come from? The holy Spirit. She knew without a word being said that Mary had been chosen for God's plan. The years spent studying and having a conversation with God had prepared Elizabeth for her journey.
God does not always answer our prayers right away, some times it takes years. Our faithfulness to God and trusting in Him alone brings about God's perfect timing. Elizabeth in her old age needed Mary, and Mary, in her youth, needed Elizabeth. The holy Spirit orchestrated all of this over their lifetime unbeknownst to each of them. They were just following God's plan faithfully each day. That's the message. "Blessed is the man who perseveres in temptation, for when he has been proved he will receive the crown of life that he promised to those who love him." James 1:12
What is God saying to me?
Dear Father, You give us great examples of holy people living Godly lives in the midst of trials and tribulations. I praise You this morning for this conversation, I thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Prayers for a good friend that went home yesterday, I loved his wit and tenacity Father, reward his faithfulness. Watch over us this day, keep us faithful to You and Your plan, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Queen of Heaven, Pray for us.
