Week 19 - The Journey Day 1
"Filled with the holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert". Luke 4:1
The world Jesus lived in was transformed, His way of life was changed when He was led into the desert. Have you experienced this? What was normal is now no longer normal, in fact it is foreign. Jesus was brought into the desert so His world could be made new. God takes us away from the norm so we can understand what is going on around us. The desert doesn't have to be the actual desert, I look back and the desert was transforming the world I lived in so I could see what had been influencing my life. Was it God or was it not of God.
The Israelites were driven into the desert, their way of life was being changed, no longer slaves now they were free. In this freedom, we listen, we hear and the question becomes are we obedient? Do we desire what is of God or are we drawn back into our old way of life. God drives us into the desert so His holy Spirit has influence on us. We listen and respond and experience peace even in the stuff or we ignore, deny, worship false idols and experience pain and agony so we are better prepared for our next desert experience with His Holy Spirit.
Life is the great educator, God is patient and He will get our attention thru the joys of life or through the vail of tears. He loves us that much that He allows us to suffer so He can become our comfort and strength in all situations, even death on a cross. The Journey encompasses all.
What is God saying to me? "Sent forth his word to heal them, and snatched them from the grave." Psalms 107:20. Read Psalms 107 again, in My Word, I quench the thirsty and satisfy the hungry heart.
Dear Lord, Your mercy endures for ever. In a world that denies You, You pull us out into the desert and give us hope for tomorrow. You listen to our cries and respond with Love. Your son was ready, his life had been prepared so His wisdom could impact the world around him. Thank You for the blessings of the desert, for the joys of life and for the sufferings that make us ponder why and what is next. You never abandon us and in the trials You are loudest for it is then that we are ready to listen. Prayers for a friend in the fight, I pray for Your grace to shine upon Him. May the fight not overwhelm him and may he find solace in Your everlasting word. In Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Queen of Victory, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Most Strong, Pray for us.
