Week 44 - The Journey with Nicodemus

Week 44 - The Journey with Nicodemus.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him."  ‭‭John‬ ‭3:16-17‬

The Living Word. It is a cool dark evening and we are sitting with Jesus as He conveys the depths of His Fathers love.  Our hearts are burning as He speaks, for from within it is speaking truth to our souls.  Is this the Messiah, how am I to respond to what He is saying.  I ponder these words once again after we leave.  This man is having a profound effect upon me, is He the Messiah?

John 3:16 is a well known scripture, many can repeat it from memory.  How often do I sit with it in the first person and relish  the words Jesus speaks directly to me?  Nicodemus left changed but still did not quite get the depth of this conversation until he looked upon the cross on Good Friday.  Now the words become  life, now he fully comprehended their meaning and his false way of life would change.

The heart had become activated, the burning within continued as he knew that with all his being what his next step would need to be.  The Son of God was no criminal and He deserved a proper burial, would He prove out the rest of the Gospel by rising from the dead, time will tell.  Somehow He knew Jesus would rise from the dead, He would live forever.

Nicodemus put it all on the line and left his former self behind.  The way he was on was only the beginning, if Jesus could suffer for His beliefs then so could he.  We do not adapt the scripture to us, the scripture transforms us into the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus through it.

What is God saying to me?  Did you feel the breeze as we spoke?  Did you feel your heart burning as My message penetrated the soul.  This is prayer in it truest form, when you go beyond yourself.

Dear Father, it is a blessed day, they are only words but somehow I can feel them.  You see the man and know what he needs to hear to transform the heart.  These moments are real.  Thank You for the gift of this day and the reality you are preparing each of us for.   Prayers for a world determined to kill the Son of God and drown out Your voice.  Help us see what we can not see.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Queen of Peace, Pray for us.

Happy Feast of St Joesph, a man who inspired the Son of God.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
