Daily Thoughts - Into the deep

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep

"Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death."

So the Jews said to him, "You are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham?" Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham came to be, I AM." So they picked up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid and went out of the temple area."  John‬ ‭8‬:‭51‬, ‭57‬-‭59‬

God is Love.  God is standing before His accusers, they are filled with sin, blind by their own ambitions.  They deny the One they are waiting upon and there He is, Love in the flesh.  What is in the eyes of Jesus, what are they seeing, what is He seeing.

As I go into the world today, how many times will I deny Christ today?  I don't go and seek to deny Him but it will happen with the choices I can make.  Yet Christ is Love, He looks with compassion and with strength knowing that intentions are good.

The gaze of Christ is upon each of us, it isn't the gaze of an accuser but that of our Savior.  He is Love and as He looks upon His creation, He sees the effects of sin and what it does to man.  Yet there He stands living in the same place, dealing with the same situations and does not sin.

There is hope for each of us as the Love of God gazes upon us knowing that it is capable of man to keep His word and not see death.  Today I get to start over to amend my actions knowing that I Am loved by Him.  Do not underestimate the grace of God's love.  Have a blessed day as we look back tonight and recount how many times we denied Him.

Dear Father, I thank You for the gaze that is upon me, the gaze of love that will amend my life.  I see and feel the effects of sin on myself and upon society, yet You still Love.  Watch over us this day and help us be faithful witnesses to this love as we strive against the effects of sin.  The joy is knowing that You defeated sin and we are saved by that victory.  I Am not the sum of my sins but I Am the sum of Your love.  Help me amend my life, it is Your strength that courses through my veins today.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep

"Then King Nebuchadnezzar was startled and rose in haste, asking his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?" "Certainly, O king," they answered. "But," he replied, "I see four men unbound and unhurt, walking in the fire, and the fourth looks like a son of God." Nebuchadnezzar exclaimed, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who sent his angel to deliver the servants that trusted in him; they disobeyed the royal command and yielded their bodies rather than serve or worship any god except their own God."  ‭‭Daniel‬ ‭3‬:‭91‬-‭92‬, ‭95‬

Walk of faith.  I had the pleasure of meeting a servant of Christ this week, got to see him in action as he did what he does.  The man is full of joy, loves life and loves God, he is living in the resurrection of Christ.

I listened to the sufferings of Christ through him, I heard the pain and anguish he has lived through out his life.  The loss of two children early in his marriage, the loss of his wife within the past year and the pain of being alone.  Yet within the suffering there is an abundance of joy, for his hope is God.

Jesus knew the story of His life, He wrote it, He knew the pain and suffering that was to be experienced but He knew who stood by His side within the fire of life.  The ending has already been written, the closer we get to the Sun, the hotter it becomes but within the fire there is an immense joy when you know who's you belong too.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  Be blessed today and always give thanks knowing what the story produces.

Dear Father God, what a blessed morning to walk with You through the life of Your son.  He radiates a strength that only life can produce that has been tried by fire.  Prayers for a friend experiencing the pain of loss, may they experience the joy of Christ knowing the ending brings about resurrection.  Thank You Father for the understanding to see beyond the lines and experience Christ in the flesh.  To God be the glory, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

"He said to them, "You belong to what is below, I belong to what is above. You belong to this world, but I do not belong to this world. That is why I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins." So they said to him, "Who are you?" Jesus said to them, "What I told you from the beginning."  ‭‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭23‬-‭25‬

I AM.  You are in the crowd, we really are.  God is standing in front of us, He is.  He speaks these words and tells us He is God, He does.  Do you believe Him?

We are entering into Holy Week next week, the story of Jesus's crucifixion, death and resurrection.  What area of the crowd are you in?  Believer, doubter, or jury, judge and executioner?   God looks down from His holy heights and knows where you stand.

Jesus is the Son of God, each of us is made in His image and likeness.  How are we treating the sons and daughters of God.  Are we seeing them for who they are, His creation or are we denying them because of their sin and condemning them to death.  Jesus does not condemn us, He tells us to sin no more.

We each travel the road to Calvary, our journeys are unique and different.  Do not travel it alone, recognize God in all that you do and experience.  We experience what we experience because some we brought upon ourselves, others because it is a lesson God needs us to understand.  In all these situations, God is always there.

This is how you separate yourself from the world for home is above when it is God that you seek.   And you see yourself as God sees you, His creation that He loves, to the point He will pay the sacrificial offering for our salvation even in our sin.

Dear Lord God, I can place myself all around that crowd and you know it.  Yet I know how much I am loved and in this we are one.  Prayers for a world denying You, prayers for a church being transformed by the world, prayers for a people being changed by the world.  Even in these situations, You are still God and all is well.  Bless this day and the memories You are making that will transform lives to give You away.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

"Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" She replied, "No one, sir." Then Jesus said, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, [and] from now on do not sin any more."] ‭‭John‬ ‭8‬:‭10‬-‭11‬

Amend your life.  A woman caught in adultery encounters Jesus, the rightful judge.  Jesus looks up at her and with the compassion that only God can give, releases her from her bondage and forgives her.  He would soon pay the price for their sin, the reason He became the Son of Man.

He knew her story, He knew her life and the lives of those she laid with.  He had everything He needed to condemn her yet He knew she had yet to experience the love of His Father.  Have you ever found yourself in her predicament, guilty with no way out, what is one to do?

Look up, seek God and amend your life, follow His direction.  God recognizes the trials we are under, He knows who convicts us and He seeks us to place our trust in Him by turning to Him.  Look up, amend your life and sin no more.  It is His strength that we need, that piercing gaze that gives us strength.  Continue your journey to the cross.

Dear Father, I have no right to judge even if I have all the facts, in doing so I am condemning myself.  Your love is what we each need in this world that seeks to condemn us.  Prayers for a friend under the influence of evil, may they amend their lives and become Your beautiful creation doing Your will.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.  The Feast of the Annunciation.

"For this reason, when he came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; holocausts and sin offerings you took no delight in. Then I said, 'As is written of me in the scroll, Behold, I come to do your will, O God.'""  ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭5‬-‭7‬

The feast of the Annunciation - God's will.   The will of God, how often are we asked to follow God's will, everyday.   Jesus, born of Mary, is the perfect example of son of man following the Fathers will.  Mary, is His counterpart, following the perfect will of God.  What a choice she was given to say "Yes", to God's will.

What did she see within the world that made that choice so simple.  Mary our sinless mother, the new Eve, recognized the corruption of sin within God's people.  Her heart burned for us, to remove the sin and build upon the goodness of God.  This is the life she experienced.  Nothing foreign could enter her body other than the holy sacrifice of God.

" but a body you prepared for me", God prepared Mary to receive Jesus, the Holy One.  We prepare ourselves with God's help to receive Jesus and Heaven through saying "Yes" to the will of God.  Say yes and watch what God will do with you and your life.

Dear Father, I see how You honor the mother of Your Son.  I see the delight she has for each and everyone of her children.  I see the strength she has from Heaven and the willingness she accomplishes the will of her Father.  Prayers for a world that denies her beauty, may they see the sacrifice she made to receive our salvation thru her Son Jesus.  Prayers also for a family burying their husband and father on this day, may they receive the graces Heaven is pouring out upon them.  I ask this in the Holy Name of Jesus, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

"So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said, "You know me and also know where I am from. Yet I did not come on my own, but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true. I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.""  John‬ ‭7‬:‭28‬-‭29‬

Jesus cries out in anguish.  Have you or are you experiencing the pains of Christ?  He has but one mission to get you to Heaven.  He speaks openly and with conviction, His words and actions speak of God.  And yet the crowd still questions who He is.  "If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him." John‬ ‭14‬:‭7‬

Yes He got tortured and nailed to the cross but the suffering of God for being rejected is much greater than the physical pain.  How many today do not believe He is the Messiah and yet our Triune God still speaks the truth, seeking the lost.  I pray your Lenten journey is fruitful, it is eye opening, to see the lengths that God goes to save one soul.  That's  how much God loves you, have a blessed day knowing the Son of Man will endure what ever pain to bring you home to the Father.

Dear Father, I thank You for the fire burning within, the desire to know You more and more each day.  I thank You for the gift of friendships and Your deep abiding love for each of Your children.  Watch over us today, speak what we need to hear so another soul can come home to You.  Prayers for a group of men experiencing the love of Christ, some for the first time this weekend.   In Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep.

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep.

"You search the scriptures, because you think you have eternal life through them; even they testify on my behalf. But you do not want  to come to me to have life.

Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father: the one who will accuse you is Moses, in whom you have placed your hope. For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote about me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?""  John‬ ‭5‬:‭39‬-‭40‬, ‭45‬-‭47‬

Jesus calls it out.  He stands before His accusers and speaks the truth, their hardened hearts not to be penetrated.  Moses stood before pharaoh, speaking the word of God and showing them signs yet they did not see nor hear.  Jesus is doing the same, speaking the truth, showing them signs from Heaven but they are blind within themselves, convinced their god is the True God.  God is ever present before us each and every day.  Jesus, as Son of Man, brought God to life, you as son of man, have the same opportunity to live within the Triune God.

We can create God into our own image and likeness, so convinced can we be, that we condemn ourselves to death.  When we listen with the heart to the readings and see the correlations between them, it opens up the scriptures.  Then we get a glimpse of our frail human nature and a glimpse into the divine life.  It is the Divine life that we seek and we can never create God into our image and likeness because He is so much more than that.

Begin each day asking the Holy Spirit to open up the scriptures to you then there will be no need to search because He becomes the teacher and we become the student, our day becomes the classroom.  Have a blessed day in prayer, your life is a prayer if we listen to the Trinity.

Dear Father, we are blessed to be here, to sit at Your feet and hear Jesus as He speaks to His accusers.  We see the challenges He faced and we see the conviction of truth operating within.  Watch over us this day and give us the insight to self when I gets in the way.  We can not operate within the Divine life alone, it is a team effort all working together.   Help us be united to You, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep.

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep.

"Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life and will not come to condemnation, but has passed from death to life.

Do not be amazed at this, because the hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and will come out, those who have done good deeds to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked deeds to the resurrection of condemnation."  ‭‭John‬ ‭5‬:‭24‬, ‭28‬-‭29‬

God said.  Once again we listen to the words of Jesus, we hear what He says to us.  Hearing is only the beginning, it is in believing where we move from death to life.  Belief is a conviction, it is an understanding and it requires faith to act upon His words you hear.  ""Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭24‬.  Jesus acted upon the words of His Father and raised the dead, healed the blind and the lame.  Our belief is determined by our actions.

The resurrection of the condemnation, all will hear His voice.  What is condemnation?  Jesus was condemned in the world but never succumbed to its temptations, He acted upon the words of His Father.  Whose words are you acting upon.   I am learning that if self is in the way then they are not God's words I am acting upon.  Thankful for a merciful God.

"Lord Jesus, Son of the Living God, have mercy upon me a sinner."

Dear Father, I am thankful beyond measure to be able to listen to You and respond to Your voice.  Your timing is amazing but that is also confirmation we are hearing You.  I ask for the wisdom to recognize discernment of spirits when the evil one is seeking to divide, persecute and conquer.   Open our eyes to the reality of him.  Prayers for a dear friend that ran the good race, faced the battles of this world and went home last night.  May he be resting in Peace and eating at the table of plenty this morning.  Keep us in your prayers my friend.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

"After this Jesus found him in the temple area and said to him, "Look, you are well; do not sin any more, so that nothing worse may happen to you." The man went and told the Jews that Jesus was the one who had made him well."  ‭‭John‬ ‭5‬:‭14‬-‭15‬

"Then he asked me, "Do you see this, son of man?" He brought me to the bank of the river and had me sit down."  ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭47‬:‭6‬

Listen.  Listen to the words Jesus gives us this morning as he speaks to the healed cripple.  "Look, you are well; do not sin any more, so that nothing worse may happen to you."  The effects of sin upon the body is devastating, Jesus tells the healed man that it is within his own power, through his worship of God, to not fall into the trappings of sin.

Sin is being redefined around us, what was once clearly sin has been adjusted by the world, what they fail to tell us the effects have not changed.  "sin, because they do not believe in me;". John‬ ‭16‬:‭89‬.

The healed cripple believes because he has experienced the Son of Man.  Now he must walk in the light or what he has will be taken away from him.  Sin separates us from the love of God, not that God wants that to happen but it is the effect of sin.  It is important that we listen to God and walk in His ways, no matter what the world around us says.

When was the last time you confessed your sins and humbly came before the Lord?  Sin is crippling.

Dear Father God, there is a treasure hidden within the simplicity of Your words.  The quiet assurance You give and is demonstrated when we walk within the right order of things as we strive to live according to Your word.  There is life that refreshes the soul and prepares another day, thank you for the gift of life.  Prayers for a soul burdened with sin, may the light of Christ accomplish His will within that soul, Amen!

Daily Thoughts - into the deep

Daily Thoughts - into the deep

"Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Messiah."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬

The fathers will.   Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Joesph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.   As we journey with Saint Joesph, he was a quiet man, very devout to the will of the Father.  His direction came from above and it was his role to portray the fathers love to his son, Jesus.  We each bare that responsibility to share that love in ways that are unseen.

Joesph, served his family by leading them, protecting them and sharing the gifts that were given to him.  Joesph isn't heard much in the Bible yet his role was that of the father.  In a way, he shares with us that small quiet voice that leads us through life.  Giving instruction that passes through time which leads us home to Heaven.  To all the fathers out there this morning, are you allowing those within your care the ability to grow with the gifts that God has given them?

Dear Lord God, I come before You this morning and ask for the gift of insight, the insight that Joesph had as he completed his role to raise Your Son and to care for Your daughter.  Help fathers see the role they have of bringing life to their creator in our actions which share Your true nature, love.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

""Come, let us return to the Lord, For it is he who has torn, but he will heal us; he has struck down, but he will bind our wounds. He will revive us after two days; on the third day he will raise us up, to live in his presence. Let us know, let us strive to know the Lord; as certain as the dawn is his coming. He will come to us like the rain, like spring rain that waters the earth.""  ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭6‬:‭1‬-‭3‬

The pain of Christ in the agony of the garden.  We are half way through lent and it is the suffering of Christ as He watches His people being torn away from God the Father.  "My people are ruined for lack of knowledge! Since you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you from serving as my priest; Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children."  ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬

Yet within His words of Hosea 6 He gives us hope, He gives us hope of the resurrection.  The voice of God calls into the deep, into the depths of sin with love, that if we return to Him, He will provide the deepest love that heals.  His agony in the garden is being experienced these days by us.  The pain of sin separates us from God, yet there He is in love praying for us to return.

Time in prayer reveals the Fathers voice and what He has for you.  It is a personal message and each are different for each of us.  Look to the resurrection with the understanding of how much God loves You!

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven, give us this day our daily bread.  Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep.

"I heard a tongue I did not know: "I removed his shoulder from the burden; his hands moved away from the basket. In distress you called and I rescued you; I answered you in secret with thunder; At the waters of Meribah I tested you: 'Listen, my people, I will testify against you Selah If only you will listen to me, Israel! There shall be no foreign god among you; you shall not bow down to an alien god. 'I am the Lord your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open wide your mouth that I may fill it.'"  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭81‬:‭7‬-‭11‬

"Heed My voice", that is the words He is speaking this morning.  It is not a foreign voice for we commune together.  His Word departs from His heart and accomplishes what it was meant to do.  The world we are living in is passing away and He seeks the lost and lonely.

What voice do you hear?

Happy Saint Patrick's day, St Patrick loved God with his whole heart, his actions speak of his love for God and his love for neighbor.  With the love of Christ, he transformed a country from a pagan land to a Christian land that loved God.  He lived the gospels and allowed Christ to come alive in others.  This is the calling for all God fearing people.  Happy St Patricks day and know that you are loved by God.

Dear Father, I thank You for the love You have poured within my heart, there is a joy that goes beyond understanding along with an ache that only be healed with eternity.  Thank You Father for the Saints and their living examples of the Gospel looks like being lived.  Prayers for the land I was born in, may it once again be turned back towards You and Your Holy Church.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

"This rather is what I commanded them: Listen to my voice; then I will be your God and you shall be my people. Walk exactly in the way I command you, so that you may prosper."  ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭7‬:‭23‬

"But if it is by the finger of God that [I] drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man fully armed guards his palace, his possessions are safe."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭20‬-‭21‬

God speaks.  I have this image of Moses on the mountain top over viewing the battle.  With his hands raised high towards Heaven, the victory is theirs.  Hands lowered and they are losing.  Each day we go into battle with self, will I invite the God of creation to join my day, will I praise Him with all that I have.
Jesus speaks of a kingdom divided will not stand, the kingdom He speaks of is within.   Each day is a battle and God tells us the battle is His.  We must listen to Him in all situations and look to the mountain top with the understanding that the Strong man is God.  It is He that goes into battle for you.

"Say to them: This is the nation which does not listen to the voice of the Lord, its God, or take correction. Faithfulness has disappeared; the word itself is banished from their speech." Jeremiah‬ ‭7‬:‭28‬.  Listen to God and act in faith.

Dear Father, it has been a blessed week and days filled with fruitful effort.  I ask that You bless this day and walk with me, use me in ways that only glorify You.  May Your word come out of my mouth and accomplish the results that You desire.  Prayers for a friend in the battle, may the strong man enter in and clean house.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

"Now therefore, Israel, hear the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to observe, that you may live, and may enter in and take possession of the land which the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.

However, be on your guard and be very careful not to forget the things your own eyes have seen, nor let them slip from your heart as long as you live, but make them known to your children and to your children's children,"  ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭4‬:‭1‬, ‭9‬

What land have you been given to take possession of?  Who is your master Gardner that helps to cultivate it?   We create our own world around us no different than Adam and Eve.  God commands us to be on guard and protect what has been giving to us.  "The Lord God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it."  ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬

The same commandments He gave Adam and Eve, He gives to us.  Realize what has been given to you and who gave it, our actions speak louder than words for that is what our beliefs are.  Does God live within and does your life proclaim that message in a world that has gone astray from their calling to love and serve God.  "fully aware that the Father had put everything into his power and that he had come from God and was returning to God," ‭‭John‬ ‭13‬:‭3‬

Dear Father, I walk with You today to serve and honor You in all that I do.  I trust in You that He who is greater within will share that love with others.  Thank You Father for the abundant rain that has been falling, You are gracious and loving to Your children, all of them.  Prayers for Your will to be done and a blessed day.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep

"His master summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?' Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers until he should pay back the whole debt. So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart.""  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭32‬-‭35‬

Forgiveness.  The servant who's master forgave his debt can not forgive the debt of another he is owed.  The anger within holds back his forgiveness and he wants to lash out, he fails to take in the forgiveness he was given.  Love has yet to enter his heart.

It is a nice story about forgiveness but maybe you fail to see the reality of how it applies to us.  After all you may have been really really hurt by another and forgiveness is really really hard.   A man died on a cross and paid our debt, He understands how hard it is yet that didn't stop Him from His sacrifice.

"Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins."  Matthew‬ ‭26‬:‭27‬-‭28‬

The story Jesus tells us is what happens when we harbor unforgiveness in our heart.

Dear Father God, I trust in You, each day we awake and there You are to illuminate the day and bring life within my soul.  I love You my Lord and I pray I do not harbor un-forgiveness within my spirit.  Prayers for those who hold onto their own un-forgiveness, may they realize the debt has already been paid and they are freed from their misdeeds to go and sin no more.  Bless this day, keep us safe and may we all realize the gift we are being given.  Amen.

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep.

Daily Thoughts - Into the deep.

"And he said, "Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭4‬:‭24‬

"When Elisha, the man of God, heard that the king of Israel had torn his garments, he sent word to the king: "Why have you torn your garments? Let him come to me and find out that there is a prophet in Israel."

He returned with his whole retinue to the man of God. On his arrival he stood before him and said, "Now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel."" ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬, ‭15‬ab

The passion of Christ.  As you witness Jesus stand in the Synagogue and listen to His words, they convey a message of who He is.  The people so obstinate neglect to hear what God is saying to them.  Anger removes our ability to hear the message.

Jesus is seeking the lost, those that are hard to reach and again He tells a story in hopes of reaching them.  He isn't wanting to quarrel or fight with them, He only wants them to see.  Look at the humanity of Christ and relate to Him as you go about Your day.  His passion becomes your passion over time after you have encountered Christ, the Son of the Living God.

You must read the daily readings to get a better understanding.  Each day God reveals Himself within His word.  How else are we to know who the Christ is.  https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/031323.cfm

Dear Father God, I see You standing in the synagogue delivering a message of love and it is anger that gets in the way of reception.  May we all take a step back and look at what is going on around us and look as you did in the synagogue.  Prayers for a friend battling anger, may You penetrate His heart within Your word and heal the leprosy with an hold over his body.  You are the Holy One of Israel, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

Daily Thoughts - into the deep.

"The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to him, but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."

Coming to his senses he thought, 'How many of my father's hired workers have more than enough food to eat, but here am I, dying from hunger. I shall get up and go to my father and I shall say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you."‭‭Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭1‬-‭2‬, ‭17‬-‭18‬

What separates us from the love of God?  From God's vantage point, nothing.  From our vantage point, self.  Jesus welcomes sinners to dine with Him, of which I am one of them.  Yet in my own sin, I do not separate myself from God, I go to Him and sit.

The prodigal son is called home by God, he was given his hearts desires that did not satisfy and the memories of peace, harmony and contentment draws him home to the Father after all he is a sinner.

"Our hearts are restless until the rest with thee", a quote by St Augustine.  He recognized the pain of separation from his Father and he realizes the peace that comes from dining at the Lord's table.

Lent is a time for refreshment, where are you at on life's journey, is God drawing you closer or are you still chasing the madness?

Dear Father God, there is joy and peace knowing that You are here, helping Your son deal with the challenges of this world.  I hear Your voice and it's gentle guidance as we dance together working things out.  I thank You for Your patience and Your unending love as You deal with a sinner.  Bless this day and all it has to offer.  Prayers for a friend figuring it out, we all need to recognize the Fathers love.  Amen.
