Daily Thoughts - Make God Known. The Feast of the Visitation.

Daily Thoughts - Make God Known.   The Feast of the Visitation.

"And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled." Luke‬ ‭1‬:‭43‬, ‭45‬

"Shout for joy, daughter Zion! sing joyfully, Israel! Be glad and exult with all your heart, daughter Jerusalem!

The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a mighty savior, Who will rejoice over you with gladness, and renew you in his love, Who will sing joyfully because of you," ‭‭Zephaniah‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬, ‭17‬

Can you personalize Elizabeth's sentiment?  It wasn't her cousin that came to see her, it was Mary, the mother of "my" Lord.  I sit in awe as God expresses His love for His children thru holy Mother Church.  As you contemplate the visitation of Mary, what sentiments are brought up within you?  Are you overwhelmed with Joy that God is reuniting humanity and is opening the gates of Heaven.

Be blessed today knowing we are loved that much that He sent His only Son to be born of a woman.  "Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory. For the wedding day of the Lamb has come, his bride has made herself ready."‭‭Revelation‬ ‭19:7

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father God, You have given us holy Mother Church that we may celebrate in her triumph over evil.  As we live out this day may we as well shout for joy in what You are doing.  Prayers for a young family enduring the trials of life, may couples come to know it is better to endure trials than seek the easy way out, for better or for worse.  May Mary and Joesph be a living example of family life and how we are to imitate their example.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - Make God Known.

Daily Thoughts - Make God Known.

"To keep the law is to make many offerings; whoever observes the commandments sacrifices a peace offering. By works of charity one offers fine flour, and one who gives alms presents a sacrifice of praise. To refrain from evil pleases the Lord, and to avoid injustice is atonement. Do not appear before the Lord empty-handed, for all that you offer is in fulfillment of the precepts."  ‭‭Ben Sira‬ ‭35‬:‭1‬-‭7‬

God is ever before us, there is nothing goes unseen by Him.  Do you recognize what you bring to the altar?  Each day is a new opportunity to be a pleasing offering to God the Father.  Jesus died for our sin, He asks us not to live in sin.  Contemplate what your actions, your words, your sacrifices are saying to God.  Have a blessed day and be "a sweet odor before the Most High." ‭‭Ben Sira‬ ‭35‬:‭8‬b

Dear Father, thank You for the gift of this day, may my offering of it back to You be pleasing.  Help us overcome the challenges of the day, help us hold back when we are asked, help us take on the calmness that Your Son Jesus has when He entered the day.  His offering was perfect in all that He did and shared.   I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - Make God Known. The Memorial of Mary, Mother of the Church.

Daily Thoughts - Make God Known.  The Memorial of Mary, Mother of the Church.

"The man replied, "The woman whom you put here with me—she gave me fruit from the tree, so I ate it.""  ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬

"The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than any dwelling in Jacob. Glorious things are said of you, O city of God! Selah And of Zion it will be said: "Each one was born in it." The Most High will establish it;"  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭87‬:‭2‬-‭3‬, ‭5‬

The fruit of the tree, funny how you can read something over and over again, then one day it has new meaning.  God works in cooperation with man and woman, this was His plan from the beginning.  It stands to reason that He would continue that plan even though it was misdirected.   "We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose."‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬

His purpose never changes, how He gets there is in cooperation of the will of man and woman.  After the crucifixion of Christ, what is the fruit of the tree?  Jesus.  Who gives us the fruit of the tree?  Mary, Mother of the Church.  As we listen to God, within His word is hidden the rewards of Heaven.

Look at the Church, look at her teachings, not the teachings of man but her teaching.  We live in a world that is dying, that is eating the fruit of the evil one.  Our culture is in decay, our moral values are under attack.  What is the answer to these dilemmas?  The foundation that God gave us, in His Son Jesus and Holy Mother Church.  We celebrate these days for a purpose, a Godly purpose, for it was Him who gave her to us.   Just as he did Adam in the beginning.   Freedom isn't free, it comes at a price that will cost your life, a life that will either produce Heaven or hell.   The choice is yours as we celebrate this Memorial Day.

Dear Father, You burn within, I see beyond the words upon the page.  I see a future filled with faith, hope and charity.  May we not take our freedom for granted, may we see the schemes of the devil.  Give us the fruit of eternal life through Holy Mother Church and witness to Your glory.  Thank You Lord for Mary, she stood by Your side and suffered with You in the trials of life and she is glorified by Your side today within the city of God.  In Jesus name, Amen.

"[Jesus] said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit."  ‭‭John‬ ‭20‬:‭21‬-‭22‬

Receive the Holy Spirit.

Dear Father, in Your infinite goodness, You know what we need and You are our source of all that is good.  Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit.  May we respond to Your voice within our day, may we listen intently to the silence and we know that we are loved beyond tomorrow.  Thank You for answering prayer within the heart of Your faithful.  Come Holy Spirit and renew the face of the earth.   In Jesus name, Amen.

Here are the prayers for today:

Dear Lord Jesus, I have specific requests that may only partially fill the infinite needs and desires that are in my heart. I ask that You answer me not only for those requests but also for a greater reliance on You to satisfy the needs and desires that You have given me.

Please grant the prayers of all those who prayed this novena with me. Bless them with Your love and make them holy!

May I seek You with a sincere heart knowing that it will profit me nothing if I gain the whole world yet lose my soul.

So, help me to see Your good and gracious purpose in all my trials. Help me to see Your blessings in every day and help me to love You more.

Thank You for everything, Lord Jesus!

Amen.

Be Still.  Is Jesus alive?

Dear Lord God, we sit still this morning and converse about the day.  We visit and listen within Your Word and see the life of Paul being played out and he walks with You in peace.  Thank You Father for where we are at, You know the days are not easy but they are taken care of.  Bless our time together and may we all realize how loved we are by You.  Amen.

""I pray not only for them, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, so that they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, that the world may believe that you sent me. And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me. Father, they are your gift to me. I wish that where I am they also may be with me, that they may see my glory that you gave me, because you loved me before the foundation of the world."  ‭‭John‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬-‭24‬

You are loved before the foundation of the world, how are you expressing that love in a world that has yet to know God?

Dear Father, it is a beautiful morning, filled with Your presence.  We stand before the trial each an every day, help us express our love for You that brings about an everlasting change.  Help us see the trials that all are under and how some have not come to know how much they are loved.  Prayers for a young family faced with a difficult decision, may it be You that chooses for them and may You be greater in all of us.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

"And now I commend you to God and to that gracious word of his that can build you up and give you the inheritance among all who are consecrated. I have never wanted anyone's silver or gold or clothing. You know well that these very hands have served my needs and my companions. In every way I have shown you that by hard work of that sort we must help the weak, and keep in mind the words of the Lord Jesus who himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'""  ‭‭Acts‬ ‭20‬:‭32‬-‭35

Where is your heart at?  Is it other focused?  It is more blessed to give than to receive.

"He said to them, "Did you receive the holy Spirit when you became believers?" They answered him, "We have never even heard that there is a holy Spirit." He said, "How were you baptized?" They replied, "With the baptism of John." Paul then said, "John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus." When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid [his] hands on them, the holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied."  Acts‬ ‭19‬:‭2‬-‭6

Have you received the Holy Spirit?

Dear Father, You speak into the morning and prepare a soul for the day that lays ahead.  You share Your gifts with us and give insight into the life of Christ and Your disciples.  These days are not much different than 2000 years ago.  Help each of us see what it is You ask of us, help us see that it is You within that has the power.  Thank You Father for always speaking with Your servant in plain words.  Prayers for a good week filled with fruitful efforts.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Is your joy complete?  Ask if it is not, there is no better place for an Easter people to live than in the resurrection of Christ.  Come Holy Spirit.

Dear Lord, You fill my heart with joy and place within my heart the desire of Heaven.  Help us see how Your Son lived in the world and not of the world.  Help us see Him living in the resurrection, knowing that You Father are love.  Bless this day and all it has to offer.  Prayers for a friend living out his Gospel story, may it produce the fruits of Heaven, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

"Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy. When a woman is in labor, she is in anguish because her hour has arrived; but when she has given birth to a child, she no longer remembers the pain because of her joy that a child has been born into the world. So you also are now in anguish. But I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you."  ‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭20‬-‭22‬

As you listen to Christ speak these words as one of the Disciples, it does not make sense, it's real meaning goes over your head.  Your Teacher is speaking in a tongue that is hard to understand.  Have you ever felt that way when reading scripture?

Yesterday was the Feast of the Assumption of Jesus, the day the Church commemorates Christ's ascension into Heaven.  Jesus speaks with the knowledge that His Holy Spirit would descend upon the disciples and give them His gifts.  Understanding is one of those gifts.

Their joy is complete when they can once again see Jesus in their days.  This happened on Pentecost Sunday.

In God's infinite wisdom, He has given us the Church so together with scripture and the feasts of celebration we may gain insight into what Jesus is saying.  Prayer is pondering all that is going on in your life, recognizing the gifts that He has given for His glory.  The Church is one of them, Feast days have purpose.

Does your Church celebrate feast days or is that a tradition that isn't honored?

Dear Father, I listen to the silence through out the day and see You at work.  I thank You for the grace of this day and the opportunity to grow.  Help us understand that life happens and how we respond is our gift back to you.  Thank you for this day, it did not all go as I would have liked but it was fun and rewarding.  Prayers for a family handling a difficult situation, may they realize the gift of grace within the trials.  Give us a restful sleep this night and prepare us for another day to honor You, Amen.

Daily Thoughts - We are an Easter People.

"Then Paul stood up at the Areopagus and said: "You Athenians, I see that in every respect you are very religious. For as I walked around looking carefully at your shrines, I even discovered an altar inscribed, 'To an Unknown God.' What therefore you unknowingly worship, I proclaim to you. The God who made the world and all that is in it, the Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in sanctuaries made by human hands, nor is he served by human hands because he needs anything. Rather it is he who gives to everyone life and breath and everything. He made from one the whole human race to dwell on the entire surface of the earth, and he fixed the ordered seasons and the boundaries of their regions, so that people might seek God, even perhaps grope for him and find him, though indeed he is not far from any one of us. For 'In him we live and move and have our being,' as even some of your poets have said, 'For we too are his offspring.'"  Acts‬ ‭17‬:‭22‬-‭28‬

Are you seeking the Lord?  Even groping for Him?  It takes effort, real effort.

Dear Father God, we sit in quiet contemplation, I have to temper my actions and thoughts to focus on You.  You sit there and watch quietly as I learn to quiet my mind and listen with the heart.  The influences of this world penetrates our beings yet You are still greater.  Help us overcome self and the outside world, reveal Truth to us as we sit together.  Thank You for the lessons that are received during the day, thank You for help in all the situations that rise up during the day.  May we be a pleasing offering to You as we live out our bible stories in real time, knowing that in the end we will be in Your presence.  Amen.

"When the jailer woke up and saw the prison doors wide open, he drew [his] sword and was about to kill himself, thinking that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted out in a loud voice, "Do no harm to yourself; we are all here." He asked for a light and rushed in and, trembling with fear, he fell down before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you and your household will be saved." So they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to everyone in his house.

He took them in at that hour of the night and bathed their wounds; then he and all his family were baptized at once. He brought them up into his house and provided a meal and with his household rejoiced at having come to faith in God."  ‭‭Acts‬ ‭16‬:‭27‬-34

What imprisons you?

Dear Lord God, I am in Your presence singing within the confines of this earthly jail.  No walls nor chains can hold You and it is You that releases us from what holds us in.  I thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit to reveal truth and to light the way.  We are blessed in living during these times, much like Paul we must trust in Your divine guidance.  Bless this day and all it has to offer, You have set us free in a world that seeks to confine the Truth.  Amen.

"On the sabbath we went outside the city gate along the river where we thought there would be a place of prayer. We sat and spoke with the women who had gathered there. One of them, a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth, from the city of Thyatira, a worshiper of God, listened, and the Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what Paul was saying."  ‭‭Acts‬ ‭16‬:‭13‬-‭14‬

""When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth that proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me. And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning."  ‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭26‬-‭27‬

Do I accept the things/events that come my way as the will of God?  Am I listening to my day?

Dear Father God, I see You at work within my day.  Never ceasing to care for Your child and bringing about events that raises us up to Your hope and glory.  May I always be thankful for the little or the lot, for Your will to be played out in my life so that we may grow closer together.   Thank You for the beauty of this day and the stillness of the morning where I may hear Your gentle whisper.  In Jesus name, Amen.
