"I have chosen David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him. My hand will be with him; my arm will make him strong." Psalms 89:21-22
Any idea what made David so special? Was it the oil? If you are Catholic you were anointed with holy oil at Baptism. If you recall the story of David, he went out and slayed Goliath. Is this what made David special? In a sense you can say yes but it wasn't this one act. The answer is in the first line, "my servant", David had a servants heart and willingly responded to God. God was always with him and he grew strong because he did what God asked of him. David gave God lordship of his life and entrusted himself to God. You too have been anointed, you have been chosen. David is special because he responded to God's call, so go and make a difference.
Dear Heavenly Father, I love You and I thank You for being patient with me. You know I don't always respond to Your call but You are teaching me and You continue to call. Give me a servants heart like David. May I listen and respond so that You will make me strong and we are united. I pray for those who have responded and are facing the unknown, let them know You are with them. Help those on the fence to take the leap of faith so they realize that You are God and nothing is impossible. I pray for those that are cold and hungry this morning, send them a David. I ask these things in Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Queen of the afflicted, pray for us.
