"Then Moses returned to the LORD and said, "O Lord, why have You brought harm to this people? Why did You ever send me? Ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done harm to this people, and You have not delivered Your people at all."" Exodus 5:22-23
Has this ever happened to you, you set out on a task for God and things get worse not better? Moses had only begun his journey out of Egypt and his resolve was being tested. The key is he returned to the Lord, God and him only began to meet. We will face opposition anytime you are doing God's work, it is a war. Returning to God when you are battle weary is the secret to your strength. The outcome is God's not yours, your resolve is what you can control and being obedient to His voice. Maybe the situation is helping someone overcome an addiction and God has asked you to help. Your faithfulness to God speaks louder, do not be discouraged on the setbacks. Jesus faced the same challenges only 10 times worse. His outcome never got better in human terms but just like Moses, He hit His knees and went to God.
What is God saying to me: Your faithfulness will be tested, setbacks are part of life, being obedient is a choice. Constancy in Your prayer life brings peace that does not react to the outcome. Continue being obedient and watch, you will be amazed.
Dear Father, why do these things play out in life as I am reading Your word, You are the Great Teacher. I thank You for the struggles, the moments of doubt and most important for the grace to turn to You. This is a lesson that repeats itself often and I like the repetition for it keeps us constant. Thank You Father for the lessons we learn on our journeys, I thank You for the setbacks as well as the victories. Prayers for those being forced to slow down, may they hear Your voice in the stillness. Watch over us this day and Thank You for the victory that is just around the corner. In Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Our Lady of Victory, pray for us.
