Week 2, Day 7 of Mold Me.

"MORNING FACE TO FACE WITH GOD:
Begin with Prayer to the Holy Spirit

RE-CAP OF THE FIRST PRINCIPLE AND FOUNDATION AND EXAMINATIONS OF CONSCIENCE:
(After pondering each bullet point, express your sentiments in a short prayer)

• The Spiritual Exercises can be summed up in one sentence: Perfect freedom through selfless service to God and His people. Such freedom is the fruit of covenant living with
God.

Dear Father, I see Your selfless service to us in all that You did and do.  I also see my self not being selfless and bound by my desires.  I trust in Your teachings to break these bonds and produce the grace of freedom.

• The First Principle and Foundation is the roadmap that St. Ignatius offers at the very
beginning of the Spiritual Exercises. He makes God-centeredness the first and most
important premise in a life of ardent discipleship.

Give me the grace to accept the things I can not change.

• St. Ignatius wanted at all times to desire only what was more conducive for the end for which he was created. In the pursuit of this goal he was willing to embrace sickness, poverty, dishonor, and short life in his discipleship, or their opposites, if this was God's will for him.

I desire only to do Your will, purify me of my will and make it Yours.

• To become God-centered, St. Ignatius strove rigorously to imbue himself with the spirit of Christ that was the antithesis of the spirit of the world. He actively sought detachment and simplicity, and was willing to suffer misunderstanding and even contempt in the service of His Master and Lord.

I know I am loved by You and created in Your image and likeness.  Help me be the person I was created to be with all my flaws and misunderstandings.

• The Particular Examination of Conscience was St. Ignatius' brain-child. He realized that he strayed from God through the same particular weakness or sin, which by habit or human condition, had become deeply ingrained in him. It was important, therefore, to weaken this vulnerability, by replacing it with a virtuous habit.

You are the keeper of my soul and my teacher.  Root out my particular weakness and replace it with dedicated service to You.  Make me super sensitive to my weakness so as to avoid it or even the thought of it.

• For what are you contrite? As you journal daily on the question, you will notice your patterns of failure and vulnerability that could be matter for the Particular Examination of Conscience.

I thank You for this particular practice at the end of my day, hold me accountable to this and keep me from resting until it is accomplished.

• St. Ignatius is looking at the examination of our thoughts, words, and deeds as a disciple who is seriously committed to praising, reverencing, and serving God in the daily circumstances of life.

May i treasure the moments of the day, even the difficult ones and view them as opportunities to change.

• You will benefit greatly from his clear understanding of mortal and venial sin. When you examine his use of words, it becomes clear that he took the teachings of Jesus very seriously in regards to love and respect of neighbor."

Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk in Your truth as St Ignatius did. Amen.

What is God saying to me? Relish the moments.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit:

Come, Holy Spirit, and overshadow me with your gentle wisdom and power as I endeavor to sit at the feet of Jesus during this period of prayer. Purify my mind and heart as I seek to make the teachings of Jesus my priority in life, thinking, speaking, and doing as He desires. You are the Keeper of my soul, leading me into God's heart. May I be docile and submissive to your wisdom and guidance, and may my life be a pleasing offering in your sight, through Christ our Lord. Amen. Triune God, be my all! Triune God, be my all! Triune God, be my all!

Mary, Our Lady of Victory, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Head of the Holy Family, Teach us.
