Daily Thoughts - Make God Known.
1231 Where infant Baptism has become the form in which this sacrament is usually celebrated, it has become a single act encapsulating the preparatory stages of Christian initiation in a very abridged way. By its very nature infant Baptism requires a post-baptismal catechumenate. Not only is there a need for instruction after Baptism, but also for the necessary flowering of baptismal grace in personal growth. The catechism has its proper place here.
Growth. Infant baptism/adult baptism is only the beginning. In either case we are a new creation in Christ yet we are only beginning to learn the love of God. As adults who stand in as Godparents we are to assist the parents to teach the teachings of God and His Church. As we read both scripture and the catechism we learn what has been taught through out the ages. The written word becomes the bases of our understanding, it becomes the seeds of faith as God grows His child.

As we read todays Gospel reading, Jesus rebukes those that are listening to Him, did they not hear the scripture He read in the synagogue. Jesus recognized they were looking for a sign, a gift from God and He had just given them hope, hope for tomorrow. We don't always recognize what or who is in front of us, in our human nature we are looking for more and God is all. Recognize the gift of life and the joy that He gives each day we awake with breath in our lungs. Who are you living for?
Dear Father, it doesn't always come easily or at first but with time, You reveal the truth in Your message. May I recognize my own shortcomings and realize that all I need is You whether I recognize You or not. May Your Word penetrate our hearts and come alive within in our actions. Thank You for the gift of this day and the stillness with nothingness other than Love. May our labor be a labor of love without expectation. Love Your son.
Mary, Queen of Heaven, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Pray for us.
St Patrick, Pray for us.
Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4b
