"When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been ill for a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be well?" The sick man answered him, "Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; while I am on my way, someone else gets down there before me." John 5:6-7
Isn't this an obvious question Jesus asked? If the man didn't want to be well, he wouldn't of been there. Why did Jesus ask Him?
The man didn't answer Him directly in the affirmative, he made an excuse why he wasn't well yet. As I place myself within this scene, what is God asking of me? We place ourselves in the right place at the right time but when the opportunity comes along we make an excuse why we can't go forward. Jesus was looking for a simple yes. The situations in our lives are not to be a road block to the saving power of God. He sees the illness, He wants to know if you are ready to move forward or do you want to make an excuse why you can't. It's a good thing God gives us what we need and when we need it.
Dear Heavenly Father, Yes is my answer. Nothing is in my way, I am not in my way, life is not in my way. I answer Yes to you, Amen.
