"At the time, all discipline seems a cause not for joy but for pain, yet later it brings the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who are trained by it. So strengthen your drooping hands and your weak knees. Make straight paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be dislocated but healed." Hebrews 12:11-13
There are consequences to our actions, just because I am an adult doesn't mean I don't get disciplined. As a kid I was disciplined when needed, sometimes it would sting other times it would weigh heavy on my head. Did you ever hear "wait til your father gets home." I heard that a lot but I deserved it because I was stepping out of line. Our Father in Heaven sees all and He will discipline us, just like my parents did, always with love. Maybe you are not enjoying the journey right now, what is God trying to teach? Is it faith, is it trust, is it a change of direction, is it to seek Him? I look back on my discipline as a kid, the fruit is righteousness. I don't recall any of the pain, just the lessons I was taught. I thank God for those lessons and that I obeyed.
Dear Father God, Thank You for the love that you give and that I received while growing up. Thank You God for always finding a way to purify me and help be become better in my Christian walk. May we see our trials as lessons of love and focus our energy on You and our faith. May we become more dependent on You and trust in You for the outcome. May we accept whatever Your will is and know the plan is what You will it. May I learn to live one day at a time just like Jesus does. Thank You Father for the discipline, I deserve all I get until I have learned my lesson. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Our Lady of Hope, pray for us.
