Mark 7:6-7 2-13-2019 dailythoughts.com

"He responded, "Well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written: 'This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me; In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines human precepts.'" Mark‬ ‭7:6-7‬

God sees the heart, do I worship in vain?  I can honestly say, in the past I have.  I was merely going thru the motions believing that just the act of attending church service I was gaining entry into Heaven.  My heart was not there with me, it was thinking about the upcoming weeks activities or the tasks that had been accomplished.  When I left Church, Jesus didn't come with me at least in my thoughts and actions.  Jesus went to the temple to worship His Father, when He left the temple, He went about doing His Father's work.  Do we honor with our lips on Sunday's and not His heart during the week?  Mass really begins when we walk out of Church, are we following the heart of Jesus and doing the work of Our Father in Heaven each day we are given?

Dear Lord God, Examine my heart and insure my motives are worthy of You, purify my heart so I may worship You as Jesus does.  Prevent the thoughts that lead me astray from You and make my will Your holy will.  Keep me from being so Heavenly bound that I am no earthly good for You.  As I walk today, use me and engage me in the tasks that only pleases You so when we meet face to face, there is joy on Your face.  Engage all of me that pleases You today.  I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Mary, Mother of God, pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
