WEEK FOURTEEN: JESUS PREDICTS HIS PASSION DAY 2

WEEK FOURTEEN: JESUS PREDICTS HIS PASSION DAY 2

MORNING FACE TO FACE WITH GOD:
Begin with Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Prayer on Luke 9: 30-32: Jesus Transfigured
"And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem. Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep, but becoming fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him." [Please read Luke 9: 28-36 for a better appreciation of the passage].

Read the Reflection; then pray using Luke 9: 30-32; ask for an intimate knowledge of our Lord, who has become man for me, that I may love Him more and follow Him more closely (#104)

The Transfiguration account follows on the first prediction of Jesus' death and resurrection, as if to give His disciples a preview of his victory over sin and Satan through His resurrection. The second and greater exodus through Jesus will result in the establishment of the new and eternal covenant. The Transfiguration confirms that Jesus is the Son of God (Luke 9: 35). It also points to the fulfillment of the prediction that Jesus will come in his Father's glory at the end of the age (Luke 9: 26). Peter, James, and John are also taken apart from the others by Jesus, here and in Gethsemane as well (Matthew 26: 37). Moses and Elijah are the two figures who represent the Old Testament Law and the Prophets. At the end of this episode, the heavenly voice identifies Jesus as the one to be listened to now. Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law and the Prophets. Moses and Elijah are in conversation with Jesus about His exodus that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem. This is a reference to the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus that will take place in Jerusalem, the city of destiny: "When the days for his being taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem." (Luke 9: 51) The mention of exodus calls to mind the Israelite Exodus from Egypt to the Promised Land. What was begun in the first Exodus is brought to completion in the second Exodus! The Old Covenant is being replaced with the New.

I have been on that mountain looking out into the valley and seeing the clouds drift by below you.  I pondered Moses being called to the burning bush, having to climb the mountain to go where God had called him to be.  I pondered Jesus, in His prayer time being summoned to the mountain to go where His Father has called Him to go.  It is quite a high mountain with many rocks and trees, definitely not an easy hike but that desire to hear His Fathers voice, to obey the will of His Father drew Him there.  In our own lives, we will face many obstacles whether we listen to God or not.  You won't just stroll into Heaven, when we spend time in prayer with Him each day, there is a desire in you that draws you in, that tells you to keep climbing.  I encourage you to spend time in daily prayer, the obstacles won't go away but the peace that surpasses all understanding will surround you.  Be blessed today, You are loved by the Creator of the Universe and He has a plan for you.  "Then a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!""  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:35‬

What is God saying to you?  You have been called, the journey will not be easy but in the darkness you can hear My voice, it will guide you to places you never imagined.

Dear Father, I can close my eyes and see many things, they all call for You.  I trust in You in all things, I trust in the things You give me to ponder upon.  I know we can get tired and overwhelmed at times but You always speak to the heart to offer that encouragement to keep climbing and pushing through.  You know who I hold in my heart today I pray for them Father, I pray for their healing and for their desire to climb the mountain.  Keep us safe today, keep us out of harms way, continue to build up our muscle memory and store it for when it is needed.  Bless this day and all it has to offer, in Jesus name, amen.

Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us.
