WEEK FOURTEEN: JESUS PREDICTS HIS PASSION DAY 4
MORNING PRAYER: Act of Faith; Act of Hope; Act of Charity; Daily Offering
MORNING FACE TO FACE WITH GOD:
Begin with Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Prayer on Luke 9: 43-45: The Second Prediction of the Passion:
"And all were astonished by the majesty of God. While they were all amazed at his every deed, he said to his disciples, "Pay attention to what I am telling you. The Son of Man is to be handed over to men." But they did not understand this saying; its meaning was hidden from them so that they should not understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about his saying."
Read the Reflection; then pray using Luke 9: 43-45; ask for an intimate knowledge of our Lord, who has become man for me, that I may love Him more and follow Him more closely (#104)
The second prediction of the Passion is made after the Transfiguration which made it clear to the three disciples, especially Peter (refer to DAY TWO), that Jesus knew what He was doing when He predicted His passion, death, and resurrection the first time. Jesus has come down from Mt. Tabor. He is met by a father who had brought his son, possessed by a demon, to Jesus' disciples to be cured. The disciples were unable to perform the miracle. Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and returned him to his Father. The reaction of the crowd was similar to the reaction of witnesses of Jesus' other miracles: "And all were astonished by the majesty of God" (verse 43). It is then that Jesus makes His second prediction, thereby making it clear that this decision is wholeheartedly His, made deliberately, for the set purpose of bringing salvation to the world through His crucifixion, death, and resurrection! At the end of Chapter 9, Luke tells us that "when the days for his being taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem." (verse 51) From then on, Jesus steadily makes His way to Jerusalem which was the city of destiny. It is there that Jesus will bring about our salvation by being crucified for us. In Jerusalem, Jesus will be raised from the dead and the Holy Spirit outpoured on the disciples!

What is God saying to you?
Dear Father, You keep things hidden from us that will only cause us pain to deal prematurely. In our walk with You, You are our Protector and our guidance. Remove the fear that is within us, help us be open to coming to You and asking anything. Thank You Father for the quiet time this morning, just sitting, nothing being said just being. Prayers for a cousin on a ventilator, heal His body so all can be amazed. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Queen of Peace, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Hope of the Sick, Pray for us.
