Week 24 - The Journey Day 4
"Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."" Matthew 26:41
"Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."" Matthew 26:41
Jesus goes into the garden of Gethsemane to pray, to prepare himself for the coming tribulation. He invites His three favorite disciples to go with Him to keep watch. Peter has just told Him at supper that he was ready to die with Jesus, it sounded good but now he was asleep. Not even concerned about what was coming, hadn't fully realized the signs and turmoil all around.
Jesus knows their strength and their weaknesses. Living in the flesh and not in the Spirit. We all fall into this trap, relying upon our own power to navigate life, not really trusting God, our words sound good. Jesus went in to pray, to give His troubles to His Father and ask for strength knowing that His Father had prepared Him as Son of Man to become the Resurrected Christ. God became one of us so in time we could imitate Him.
"The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." "Then he said to me: "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, and not by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts." Zechariah 4:6. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5. Give it to God in prayer, trust in His will and follow His direction. On our own we are nothing, with God's direction, the Son of Man has conquered the world, for he doesn't live in it in the flesh.
What is God saying to me? Come to me in prayer and keep watch for what approaches, only in prayer will you find peace, live here.

Dear Father, there are blessings that awaits us in silent prayer, I thank You for the grace to seek You out in the quiet of the day. Life is abundantly good within You. Prayers for a family under spiritual attack, I ask for Your healing hand be upon them, may they not fall victim to the schemes of the devil. Thank You Jesus for enduring the pain of sin for each of us, help me see my sin and confess it so I can be more open to the Father's will. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4b
