Week 21 - The Journey Day 6
Death is never an easy thing to talk about, we will all walk through its door, even Jesus as Son of Man faced it. Yet His life lived with purpose to serve our Father in Heaven, He entrusts himself into his Fathers hands. These weren't foreign hands for they had Journeyed together His entire life. His best friend, His God was going to take care of him.
"Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit"; and when he had said this he breathed his last." Luke 23:46
God gives each of us the opportunity to know Him, to witness the life of Jesus living for Him and free will to chose how we want to live. You get to chose. Which Father do you follow? The father of lies or the Father of the Universe, the One who created all with His words. When I die I pray I entrust my spirit into His hands.
"The Lord shall reign forever, your God, Zion, through all generations! Hallelujah!" Psalms 146:10. Live with purpose, you won't accidentally get into Heaven or hell, in my opinion.
What is God saying to me? There is reason for this, will you follow where I go and take you?
Dear Father, not easy to contemplate death, we don't even like thinking about it, yet You place it upon our path to ask the question. Help us understand that entrusting ourselves to You while breathing gives us life eternity. Even in death, You walk with us. Prayers for those mourning the loss of a loved one, lift their spirits to You Lord and breathe peace into them. Bless this day and all it has to offer, Amen.
