Week 28 - The Journey Advent week 1

Week 28 - The Journey Advent week 1

"for, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."  ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:9‬

I pondered the Journey of a young girl this morning as she studied scripture, followed the teachings of God and waited upon the coming of the Messiah.  Unknown to her she would be the mother of the coming Lord.  She had heart knowledge for God already resided there, it was her yes that gave God a physical body.

What about being raised from the dead, how could be Mary know about this?  Listen to her response and her total commitment to God the Father.   "But Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?" Luke‬ ‭1:34  She knew with head knowledge that it was impossible for her to be with child, her answer gives us that, but she also knew God is the God of the impossible.  He could bring life where no life existed and Jesus was alive with her yes.  Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her..". Luke 1:38

Now what about me?   Do I ponder God in my heart?  Do I bring God to life within me?  If a 14 year old young girl can do these things then I can follow her direction.  She has been following God for a long time before coming to this understanding.  We as well can grow in faith and bring God into hearts that are void of true life.  Prepare for the coming of Christ, He will return and You have a choice just like Mary did.  Happy Tuesday.

What is God saying to me?  I lead, you follow, that's all Mary ever does, it is written in My Good Book.

Dear Lord, in the ponderings of our hearts You reveal Yourself and Your plan for salvation.  Some days are still fuzzy but that is ok for I do not need to know.  Prayers for help today to live as You have called us to live.  You see the battle, You see the resistance, we don't always see but with faith we move forward.  Bless those building Your Kingdom with each yes in their lives beginning with yes to daily prayer.  Watch over us and give us Your words when called to speak.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 28 - The Journey Advent week 1 - Mary, Most Pure.

Week 28 - The Journey Advent week 1 - Mary, Most Pure.

"As for you, observe what I am commanding you today. See, I am about to drive out before you the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Take care not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land that you are to enter; lest they become a snare among you. Tear down their altars; smash their sacred stones, and cut down their asherahs. You shall not bow down to any other god, for the Lord—"Jealous" his name—is a jealous God.  ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭34:11-14‬

I have been contemplating the Ark of the Covenant and our Blessed Mother, listening to what He is saying.   The Ark is made of pure gold, inside and out.  (Exodus 38:2). What had God intended when He gave us the Ten Commandments?   He had instructed Moses and prepared the artisans to build the holies of Holies.  When it was ready He entered along with the Covenant.  "Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle."  Exodus‬ ‭40:34‬

I think of all the ways that God's word and His intentions have been watered down, how they have been adapted by man to fit their will and not His.  Our Blessed Mother had been prepared for such a journey to carry the Word of God, the Great High Priest.  "And the angel said to her in reply, "The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:35‬

So what happens when something unholy interferes with God's Holy will?  "As they reached the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah stretched out his hand to steady the ark, for the oxen were tipping it. Then the Lord became angry with Uzzah and struck him, because he had laid his hand on the ark; he died there in God's presence."  ‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭13:9-10‬

Advent is a time of preparation for the coming of Christ.  To take a look at our own ways that we worship God.   The first week is a week to prepare, to examine ones self and take a look at the areas of our life's that are taking us away from God's love and His holy will.  To bring these sins to Him, admit our faults and seek His forgiveness.  "A clean heart create for me, God; renew within me a steadfast spirit."  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51:12‬.  Have a blessed week, contemplate Mary's worship of her Father and His Son, she is perfect in her adoration of them.  It is a week of hope for a clean heart, this leads to right worship of God.

What is God saying to me?  In the stillness of the day I Am heard without all the distractions of Lucifer.

Dear Father, help me look inward at my own faults and see the error of my ways.  I need Your strength to be holy and pure, I know it is a journey.   Prayers for friends caught in the traps of life feeding the ego of self and serving one's own needs.  Break these bondages that has a hold so, true and pure worship can be had.  Watch over us this week, keep us on the path and thank You for these past several days making memories with loved ones.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 28 - The Journey Day 2 The Seat of Wisdom. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

Week 28 - The Journey Day 2 - The Seat of Wisdom.

"And now, bless the God of all, who has done wondrous things on earth; Who fosters people's growth from their mother's womb, and fashions them according to his will!" Sirach 50:22

The Seat of Wisdom.  One of the titles given to Mary as Mother of all wisdom.  It was she who nursed the Christ child as she pondered in her heart the meaning of all these things.  It was Bathsheba who give birth to Solomon who asked God for wisdom.  "Give me, therefore, wisdom and knowledge to govern this people, for otherwise who could rule this vast people of yours?" ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭1:10

"Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:42‬.  The seat of wisdom gave us Jesus and she points to God, the source of all wisdom.  We each have a lot to be thankful for, ponder the life of Mary in your journey.  In what ways did she share the love of God with others.  What about the sacrifice she made so we could receive redemption thru the Son of God.  She must of known the journey her Son would make from the word of God.  Her journey was not an easy one but one offered up in thanksgiving.  Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, treasure the gift of life and give what God gives you.

What is God saying to you?

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the glimpses into Your Holy Family, for the thoughts that lead to action, in our response back to You, we gain insight.  Thankful for this day, for family that loves each other and who continue to grow in ways of love.  Thankful Father for this journey with Mary, she is the seat of wisdom and is there to help us along our journey.  Bless this day Father, bless all the mothers that are diligently caring for their children and adopted children this Thanksgiving day.  Amen.

Week 28 - The Journey Day 1

Week 28 - The Journey Day 1

"Then Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, and the king stood up to meet her and paid her homage. Then he sat down upon his throne, and a throne was provided for the king's mother, who sat at his right.""  ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭2:19

A place of honor.  Solomon born to King David and Bethsheba in Jerusalem honors his Queen Mother.  The heart of a King turns to His mother and gives her, her rightful place.  "Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his home."  ‭‭John‬ ‭19:27‬

What can we learn from the king of Israel and from the Son of God by their example.  God seeks the heart and there is no heart more pure next to Jesus other than Mary's.   Within His word He gives us images, He gives us truth.  The world fights this truth and seeks to deny it.  It seeks to separate us from truth and God seeks to unite us with truth.  God seeks your heart, have you given it to Him?

What is God saying to me? A little at a time so it can seep in like a slow steady rain.

Dear Father, You give me these things to think about so my faith can be deepened.  They are not easily resolved within but You know where we are going and I trust in this place as well.  Prayers of thanksgiving for another morning spent by Your side.  Prayers for a friend looking for a home and prayers for another.  Help us surrender to Your Divine will, in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 27 - The Journey Day 6

Week 27 - The Journey Day 6

"And coming to her, he said, "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.""  Luke‬ ‭1:28‬

Rejoice, full of grace.  I like clear and concise answers and God gives them but not in ways we expect.  Favored one, full of grace are not the same, at least not clearly.  This pondering draws us into the heart of God, causes us to seek His will and join the journey that leads to Heaven were all are full of grace, all are favored.

The angel Gabriel had been watching and waiting as well for this time when Jesus would enter in.  He watched as Mary, repeatedly responded with yes to God, each step bringing more and more grace into her life, a life that was immaculately conceived.  Gabriel was exuberant when he greeted Mary, he knew God's plan of reuniting man with God, and Mary is the highly favored one.  Rejoice is the meaning of hail, he was elated.

God's favor falls upon those who do His will, who respond to His voice.  "But Noah found favor with the Lord."  ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭6:8‬.  Noah's yes to building the ark, brings about His plan.  All these images that God paints over time are His way of revealing truth and drawing us ever closer to Him.  Release His favor in your life with small steps each day by saying yes.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, we begin another week sitting at Your feet listening to Your voice, You are at work in our lives and the stillness and quiet of the morning allows us to hear.  I see the grace You are pouring out and I see the response of yes to You brings about peace in our lives.  The world continues to spew its hate and You continue to combat it with love.  Our listening and responding is the peace that our hearts long for.  Prayers for a safe week as many travel to be with family, may we not forget that even in the chaos of this world we are still well cared for, lots to be thankful for.  Amen.

Week 27 - The Journey Day 5 Christ the King Sunday

Week 27 - The Journey Day 5 Christ the King Sunday.

"All glorious is the king's daughter as she enters, her raiment threaded with gold;".  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭45:14‬

The Fathers Love.  We read about Christ in the Old Testament it stands to reason God would speak of His chosen daughter, the new Eve.  Christ is King and no King goes without a Queen Mother.  "My heart is stirred by a noble theme, as I sing my ode to the king. My tongue is the pen of a nimble scribe."  Psalms‬ ‭45:2‬

Without Mary, there is no King and in history she as well was written about before her Immaculate conception.  A Fathers love speaks louder than anything.  I get the misunderstandings about Mary from other faiths, is their source of misunderstandings from the word of God or is it from man that hasn't gotten to the heart of God.

Mary knew the Fathers heart and spoke it easily.  "For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:48‬.  She gave birth to the King of Glory, she has entered Heaven in splendor.   Get over your prejudices and see Mary as God sees her.

What is Mary's last recorded words in the Bible, she knows who Truth is.

What is God saying to me?  Within My heart lies Truth, read it and you will find My heart.  Out of the abundance of man's heart follows his mouth.

Dear Father God, You speak of Love in Your Word and our hearts.  Love is the driving force behind all that You do, help me see the areas of my life that are not filled with love and rectify them.  Thank You for the blessing of yesterday morning, to see a fathers love in action thru the eyes of a child.  Bless this Sunday, Lord God.  Thank You for giving us Your Son, thank You for Your sacrifice of Him on the cross, that was no easy journey for You either.  To God be the glory forever and ever, Amen.

Week 27 - The Journey Day 3

week 27 - The Journey Day 3

"A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars."  ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12:1‬

Unity with God.  Do you go to Church?  I pondered the life of Mary this morning and a little last night.  She, along with Joesph, were the first ones to take Jesus into His Fathers house.  They shared the love of God with Him and His word which He is, the living word of God.

God gives us signs, He gives us a road map if we are developing our devotion to Him.  I was walking past the Church last night and an image caught my eye inside the Church, a statue of the Virgin Guadalupe.  There was a flood light upon her and I went in to say hello, I took it as a sign.  This morning God gave me Revelation 12:1 as the verse for today.  Why was that the first verse this morning, it was God's way of giving me a roadmap.

Hearing God's voice comes in many ways and forms.  When we are engaged in the living word of God, He is everywhere and we never walk alone.  So the glance into the Church last night was a God wink and the reason for the question.  God will pursue you, give you the message, it is our response back that releases His grace in our life.  Look at Mary, filled with grace, not her grace but the grace of God.  Now look at the image I provided today, God speaks in many ways.

What is God saying to me?  I Am not playing around, this is real, your response will release My grace in your life.  Look at Mary's response.

Dear Father, You literally pop things into my life that do not go unnoticed.  To sit and ponder only to have the answer in front of me is Your grace, waiting upon my response.  Teach us Lord to awaken our senses to You, to see the reality of You and the blessings that await when we respond.  As Mary did for You, take us to Church.  Prayers for a friend looking for a home to find rest, You have prepared the perfect place for he does not miss a God wink.  Bless this day Lord, give us peace in an ever changing world.  Amen.

Week 27 - The Journey Day 2

Week 27 - The Journey Day 2

"I see him, though not now; I observe him, though not near: A star shall advance from Jacob, and a scepter shall rise from Israel, That will crush the brows of Moab, and the skull of all the Sethites,". Numbers‬ ‭24:17‬

What is in a name?  Have you ever looked up what your name means, you should for God gave you this name for a purpose.  What about your confirmation name that God gave you when He claimed you as His own.

Mary is a descendant of Jacob, you can look it up in Luke 3:21-38.  God's love for His creation and bringing them back to right relations as was intended in the Garden of Eve is all throughout the Bible.  A scepter is a staff representing sovereignty.  Numbers 24:17 is a repeat of Genesis 3:15.

Now back to what's in a name, Mary's name means or Miriam as would be said in Hebrew is "star of the sea."  When we are with God our battles are already won, when we are opposed to God, we lose.  God repeats this message over and over as well.

What is God saying to me?  Listen to My small still voice, your yes leads to victory over the evil one, it is already written.

Dear Lord God, Yes.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 27 - The Journey Day 1

Week 27 - The Journey Day 1

"I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; They will strike at your head, while you strike at their heel."  ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭3:15‬

Woman.  I have this image of Jesus on the cross speaking to His mother Mary.  "When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭19:26‬.  God calls her woman and she will have enmity between the devil, and his offspring and her and her offspring.

What does enmity mean?  "Adulterers! Do you not know that to be a lover of the world means enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wants to be a lover of the world makes himself an enemy of God."  ‭‭James‬ ‭4:4‬.  Enemies or polar opposites.

Who are the offspring of the devil?  Those that do his bidding, that go against the teaching of God knowingly and unknowingly but without intent.  Who are the offspring of the woman?  Those doing the will of God, who have come to know Him.  It is a spiritual battle that we are in.  Eve, made perfectly by God brought sin into mankind, Mary, conceived without sin, brought salvation to mankind thru her yes and offspring, Jesus, and those who pick up their cross to fight the enemy.

Mary is the one that God intended from the beginning, Jesus as Son of Man, is her offspring the one intended from the beginning.  The devil seeks to sow discord, cloud judgement.  God looks to unite and bring clarity to our thinking.  Does what you hear about Mary, sow peace or discord.  Some unknowingly sow discord.

Now I am back at the cross with Jesus, Mary and John.  These are the words of Jesus, a disciple of Christ will listen and pay heed.  "Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his home."  ‭‭John‬ ‭19:27‬.  It is a spiritual battle, pray your rosary and listen to the one who is full of grace, grace that God had intended from the beginning of time.

What is God saying to me?  Gird your loins.

Dear Father, I see Your intent and I see the battle that began in the garden.  I have lived the discord that the enemies sows, I have seen good people fall victim to his lies.  I see the spiritual battle that goes on and looks like it is intensifying.   Our prayers and time with You is what brings peace to our souls.  You will work all things out and you need our cooperation just as Mary said yes, we too need to affirm our faith in actions.  Prayers for a friend in a spiritual battle, may special grace be poured upon her.  Thank You Father for the blessings of this day and the gift of life.  To live is Christ to die is gain, Amen.

Week 26 - The Journey Day 7

Week 26 - The Journey Day 7

"Observe, my son, your father's command, and do not reject your mother's teaching;"  ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭6:20‬

The perfect word of God.  We have studied the words of Jesus, (Amen, Amen) the most important ones.  We have studied the giver of holy life, the Holy Spirit.  God is leading us to consider the mother of God.  He gave us the Ten Commandments and He gave us Mary.

I was blessed with great earthly parents that have provided a good example of faithful living, not everyone can say that.  (In love) "he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will,". ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:5‬.  We have great examples no matter our own situation through adoption by our brother Jesus.  God the Father, God the Son and Mary, Mother to God the Son and spouse of the Holy Spirit.

Mary, did not have many words in the Bible but her example is her teaching.  And Jesus is the fruit of her womb.   We are not to reject the teachings of mother Mary.  Maybe a bit of a stretch for some but if God is our Spiritual Father, who is our spiritual mother?

What is God saying to me?  Follow my lead.

Dear Father God, You never abandon us in this life without great examples of Godly living.  You are sharing Your word with us from the Bible, I will entrust my will to You as we spend time with Mary and Your will.  Prayers for a friend who passed into eternity, thankful for the opportunity to come to know You on his journey home.  Cancer is a curse but it does prepare us for what we know is coming which indirectly makes it a blessing in disguise.  Your will Father is perfect.  Watch over this day and give us faith, hope and charity in our actions, in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 26 - The Journey Day 6

Week 26 - The Journey Day 6

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?" "Here I am," I said; "send me!""  ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭6:8‬

We like to know where we are going, we like to know all the details before we say "yes".  God doesn't give us the details, He asks a question and waits upon our response.  Where is it He wants to send us?  Heaven is the destination.  He doesn't give us the details, just the question and waits for our obedience to His voice.

Our "yes", "send me" is all that is needed for God.  He will fill in the details along the way.  It is a journey but one that you are never alone on.  Each day you are given daily bread if you say "yes" when asked.  The Holy Spirit knows the details, He sees the whole story and knows the way for you.  "Yes" is the ticket to Heaven.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, there is this great adventure that awaits when we say "yes, here I am, send me."  There is grace upon grace that is given with each "yes" to You.  I may not know what tomorrow holds but today my yes brings us one step closer.  There is much in this world to trip us up, to slow us down, may each day begin in prayer and my yes to You.  Prayers for those just entering the race, give them endurance and the Spirit of Hope knowing the prize awaits those who finish as they started with "yes".  Bless this day and all it has to offer, Amen.

Week 26 - The Journey Day 6

Week 26 - The Journey Day 6

"Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last."  Mark‬ ‭15:37‬

The Son of Man had done all He could do as man.  He was obedient to His Fathers voice, He spoke Truth into the darkness and He accepted the sins of all who ever sought forgiveness and received our just punishment.  What was the loud cry for?  Could it be the knowledge of knowing that some would not accept God's forgiveness, they would live a life serving self.  Could it be that they got caught in the devils snare by their own choices and as much as He tried, it was their own decision to deny the divinity of Christ.

His last breath was spent on saving souls, on doing the Fathers will.  What will your last breath be like?  Will it be gasping for air trying to hang on to an earthly life or will it be one of acceptance.  Acceptance of the knowledge that He died for You, of knowing that once you accepted this knowledge you became one of the workers in the vineyard.  We will all face this last breath, Jesus did exactly as our Father in Heaven wanted His son to do.

What is God saying to me?  Drink it all in.

Dear Father, it can be somber thinking about Your Sons last breath but His death was not in vain.  He gave all for all, in hopes of reaching all and trusting in You for the outcome.  Help us live each day as if it were our last, help us live in peace of mind and soul.  If our spirit is troubled help us confess the sin that leads to death, help us seek forgiveness from You and forgive self.  Thank You God for paying all the same once they enter the vineyard, our job is nothing like Your Sons was.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 26 - The Journey Day 4

Week 26 - The Journey Day 4

"When he returned he found them asleep. He said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour? Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.""  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:37-38‬

Jesus calls Peter by his given name, Simon.  I pondered these events for Peter and the words Jesus spoke to him.  Jesus had no need for them to keep watch, He knew what was coming.  Our lives are but a spec of time, if we are not careful we will miss its purpose.

The message is for us, to always be prepared, to be on watch and not be caught off guard.  The disciples lived the same life as Jesus and did not fully understand what was coming.  Their time to sit and watch, the time we are in now, they fell asleep.  They were not praying, they were not keeping watch.  If we are not careful we can fall back into our old ways, into our life before Christ entered in.

Watch and pray, listen to God, be obedient to His will, be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Listen to the Holy Spirit, ignore the flesh, live with a holy purpose.  Peter's life was transformed by these words, Jesus was giving him vision, showing him the areas of his life that needed to be transformed.  The first pope did not forget this lesson, he lived the rest of his life never losing sight of God.  Never going back to his old ways.

What is God saying to me? Walk with Me and be surprised, even in your sleep we can be together.

Dear Father God, You bless us beyond our comprehension, You give us grace and unexpectedly answer prayer.  I thank You for the joy that lives within.  I thank You for a holy purpose, one that has been passed on and continues to be passed on.  Give us wisdom and insight into our future, walking within Your will.  Bless this day Lord, fill the hearts of the faithful with Your love.  Prayers for a friend making the last leg of his journey, greet him at the door and bless his family with Your grace.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 26 - The Journey Day 2

Week 26 - The Journey Day 2

"But the gospel must first be preached to all nations. When they lead you away and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say. But say whatever will be given to you at that hour. For it will not be you who are speaking but the holy Spirit."  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13:10-11‬

"Do not worry."  This chapter in Mark is apocalyptic, it speaks of the coming end times.  Mark recounts Jesus teaching the disciples on the Mount of Olives.  It can be troubling to think about without perspective.  Jesus's end time on earth was drawing near, "Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭2:19‬.  He did not live in fear for His feet were planted upon the firm foundation.  His time was near.

"They will lead you away and hand you over."  How is your prayer life?  Are you like the disciples asking Jesus questions and then listening to the answer?  In a relationship with God, one that is committed to daily prayer, one with time invested, one following God's will, you are never alone.  Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b.  We go together, God is not someone I don't know and I am someone who allows Him in, we dine together.

See the constant beauty of God that is in front of you each day.  "What I say to you, I say to all: 'Watch!'""  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭13:37‬.  Allow Jesus to be in front of You at all times.

What is God saying to me?  I Am in the Word, reading from My book is the same as the disciples sitting in front of Me, listening.  Do not be stiff necked.

Dear Lord God, You continue to show the beauty of this world with the sun dancing off of the clouds or a flock of birds flying by which are well cared for.  I see You speak each day and are repeating the message to look up and be thankful.  Thank You Father for renewing my mind with Your word, for drawing me in to Your family.  I am watchful, some days it causes concern but you always remind us that with You no harm can befall us that leads to destruction.  Bless this day and the time You are giving us to listen.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 26 - The Journey Day 1

Week 26 - The Journey Day 1

"David himself, inspired by the holy Spirit, said: 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand until I place your enemies under your feet."  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭12:36‬

Jesus's enemies are seeking His life and He is waiting upon the Lord.  David's enemy is seeking his life and he is waiting upon the Lord.  How are they not taking matters into their own hands?  A strong consistent prayer life, inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit.

I pondered Jesus's prayer life as He had gone into prayer, was His repeating of this scripture verse something He had been praying upon.  Contemplating His next steps with His Father in Heaven.  As Son of Man, I believe it was.

We all need guidance in this world, even Jesus did.  Time with God and bringing Him your challenges and then listening is the best.  David was instructed and wrote it down, the inspired word of God.  Jesus repeats it from His vantage point to reinforce the message.  Sit with God, be at peace knowing when we trust in Him, He will work all things out.

What is God saying to me?  I am the Foundation, nothing shakes me, listen and respond with trust.

Dear Father, I see the stability of You, I see the firmness that comes when You are at the center and we come to You with our difficulties and our joys.  Reinforce the message of waiting upon You and trusting in You for the outcome.  Help us lay our will down and let it only be Your will.  Nothing shakes You or stirs You into action.  Prayers for peace in a world being shaken.  I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Week 25 - The Journey Day 7

Week 25 - The Journey Day 7

"It has often thrown him into fire and into water to kill him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us." Jesus said to him, "'If you can!' Everything is possible to one who has faith." Then the boy's father cried out, "I do believe, help my unbelief!""  Mark‬ ‭9:22-24‬

"If", do you ever find yourself having this conversation with God?  A father seeks to save his son from being possessed by an evil spirit.  God seeks to save all not just the son but the father and those that are seeking to be saved.  The son was not in his right mind and could not ask for healing.  The father intercedes on his behalf, we have impact on others lives when we seek God to intervene.

"I do believe, help my unbelief!"  What is it that helps our unbelief, Jesus has zero unbelief, none, nada, He is the belief that we seek.  What is it about Him that we can have,  to get to this place of total belief, where He is at! "He said to them, "This kind can only come out through prayer." ‭‭Mark‬ ‭9:29‬  A life of prayer, finding that quiet time and sitting with God, getting to know the perfect will of God.

You can follow the crowd and be lost in confusion as the father in this story was doing or as Jesus clearly tells us and shows us by His life, how to live in peace.  Breaking away from the craziness of life and just being with God, even for a split second is worth more than anything.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father, You see the situations we put ourselves into, the troubles we create because we are not in daily prayer with You, help our unbelief.  Listen to the prayers of those we are interceding for, remove the doubt that is in their heart and give them the rock solid faith that Jesus gives to those that belief and demonstrate it through their actions.  Prayers for the solid foundation in a world that continues to shake, may we see Your perfect will through consistent daily prayer.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Week 25 - The Journey Day 6

Week 25 - The Journey Day 6

"He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said, "Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.""  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭8:12‬

Can you hear the depth of Jesus's sigh?  Would it be any different today?  Would He see belief in the power of God in the world or would He see the lack of?  What about with you?

Even His disciples demonstrate their lack of trust in God?  "His disciples answered him, "Where can anyone get enough bread to satisfy them here in this deserted place?" ‭‭Mark‬ ‭8:4‬. We live in a world that seeks signs and yet when they are there some still do not see the power of God at work.  "Do you have eyes and not see, ears and not hear? And do you not remember,". ‭‭Mark‬ ‭8:18‬

In all the circumstances in life there is but one constant and that is God.  When your world has been turned on it's ear there is but one constant and that is God.  When all is well there is but one constant and that is God.  If it is signs you are seeking then you have missed the point, Jesus(God), is the sign.

For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is possible." – Stuart Chase

What is God saying to me?  My sigh is to make a point, even in their presence they do not see.

Dear Father, I see the simplicity of life as it passes by and You are there keeping all things in order.  I see the beauty of life and know You are there.  I thank You for this reminder, for the opportunity to sit and watch, to listen to Your sigh and understand that our belief is demonstrated in our actions.  Thank You for the lessons these past days, for the canvas being filled in a little bit more.  Bless this day and all it has to offer, may we accept what comes our way with grace for You are with us in all of it. Amen.

Week 25 - The Journey Day 4

Week 25 - The Journey Day 4

"Amen, I say to you, all sins and all blasphemies that people utter will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an everlasting sin." For they had said, "He has an unclean spirit." ‭‭Mark‬ ‭3:28-30‬

What is blasphemes against the Holy Spirit?  Denying His saving power and never accepting His forgiveness.  Jesus tells us "But no one can enter a strong man's house to plunder his property unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can plunder his house."  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭3:27‬.  God is love, God is greater, He is the strongest nothing trumps God not even the devil.

"Will never have forgiveness", God is forgiving but we must accept it and change. He understands the limitations of man and knows at times our utterances get us in trouble yet He will always forgive.   It is only an everlasting sin as long as we allow it.  God is love, He is love, nothing we say or do can not be forgiven.  He knows our journey and has already paid the price for our sins, we have to accept His love and be greater in Christ.

What is God saying to me?

Dear Father of Truth, You are the Perfect Creator, filled with unending Love.  We can not fathom the depth of love You have for each of us.  You make it personable with each of us, one on one.  Prayers for someone who is struggling to forgive themselves, God wants you to know that You are forgiven, accept His love and move on.  That is how you and He will change the world.  Prayers for our world Father, prayers for strength in our times of need.  Thank You for the lesson and the time to think with You as we journey together.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Week 25 - The Journey Day 3

Week 25 - The Journey Day 3

"At once the Spirit drove him out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him."  ‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:12-13‬

Repetition is good for the soul.  Jesus, just like the freed slaves of Egypt, was driven into the desert.  He handled the temptations much better than they did, He didn't worship any false gods.  His walk was with God, He accepted the help that was readily available to Him.

How is your desert experience been or is?  Every time we walk away from God, we get to repeat the lesson, repetition is good for the soul.  Jesus came so we could have life and have it abundantly.  In falling victim in the desert, when we repent of our sins and turn back to God, He forgives.  We are among wild beasts everyday, we are among the temptations of the devil, God's angels are there to minister to us, we just have to listen to Him.

Will it be forty days or forty years?  Be a quick learner and do not walk in circles in the counsel of fools, listen to God.  Avoid the sin, it only entraps you and you get to go another round.  Repetition is good for the soul, it is how we learn.

What is God saying to me?  With Me the journey is much better, without Me it is a dark desolate place.

Dear Father, repetition is good for the soul, You repeat Yourself over and over so we may learn the lesson.  From the beginning of time, You have been guiding mankind to find true Joy in You.  Thank You Father for loving us even when we fall into temptation, thank You for the sacrament of confession, for the knowledge of knowing You are forgiving and merciful and not without justice.  Prayers for a friend who fell into temptation, may they have learned the lesson and not repeat it for it goes against Your perfect will.  Bless this day Father and all it has to offer, thank You for the generosity of Your angels ministering to us.  Amen.

Week 25 - The Journey Day 2

Week 25 - The Journey Day 2

"On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased." ‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:10-11‬

Mark is the only one who begins his Gospel with the baptism of Jesus. (Matthew 3:13-17, Luke 3:21-23, John 1:32-33).  The Son of God did not need baptized, He did not need the Holy Spirit, He is the Holy Spirit, He is the Trinity, three in One and One in Three.  What is the significance of Jesus's baptism?  God does not make His presence known until we humble ourselves and come to Him.

Jesus is anointed with the Holy Spirit, He begins His public ministry.  Mark started here and truth be known that is where we begin.  Nothing happens in our lives until we humble ourselves and come to God.  He can knock but we must answer.  Jesus shows us the way, He tells us to follow Him.  Living in the world is easy, it just happens, we fall victim to its ways.  To follow God takes effort, it takes will power, it takes humility to allow God to operate within.  "Then he said to me: "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, and not by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts."  Zechariah‬ ‭4:6‬.  Come Holy Spirit Come.  (Ask)

What is God saying to me?  I see you and I know you are trying that is all I ask, it isn't punishment, it is education.

Dear Father, in the world we have troubles, with You we do not.  Give me a holy fear of who You are, give me a willing will and a receptive ear.  Give me will power to say no when not from You and yes when it is from You.  Prayers for a friend battling Covid symptoms, prayers for another with sloth.  Holy God, Mighty God, Immortal God leads us along the narrow path.  Amen.

Week 25 - The Journey Day 1

Week 25 - The Journey Day 1

"I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."  Mark‬ ‭1:8‬

Is there two separate and distinct baptism?  One given by man as John the Baptist did and the other given by God?  The answer is yes and I believe and know from experience that the second given by God, you will know and come to understand.

All four Gospels speak of the baptism by water and the Spirit.  We can seek out the baptism of the Holy Spirit, but God is the giver in His time.  You will know.  Your life is transformed, you are made new again, it is the gift of grace but it also comes with responsibilities.  Like a mother nursing an infant at some point the baby is weened off.  You will grow in the Spirit but it is your response to the Holy Spirit, it is a daily journey.

"I did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'On whomever you see the Spirit come down and remain, he is the one who will baptize with the holy Spirit.'"  John‬ ‭1:33‬.  Our relationship with Jesus daily in our victories and our failures, constantly seeking Him out, this is where we grow in the Spirit.  I have been weened off but each day I seek Him out, I sit still and He speaks through scripture.  May we all pause and thank God for where He has us on the journey, He is the vine, we are the branches.
What is God saying to me?  You will not travel alone, I Am always ready to help those who are seeking Me out.  Sunday alone is never enough.

Dear Father, I hear You speak in scripture, I see the words painted in my mind as Your Holy Spirit repeats them into me.  I thank You Lord for the journey, we are all travelers, some going with intention, others blindly walking and You seeking us all out.  Prayers for a good man being operated upon today, may You guide the hands of all involved, may You bring Peace upon all as they journey.  Help us see the gift of life and how precious it really is, nothing can be taken for granted, especially You.  Bless this day, keep us safe and keep us on the narrow road, Amen.

Week 24 - The Journey Day 7

Week 24 - The Journey Day 1

"The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.  Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.""  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:16-20‬

Discipleship.  In order to go and make disciples you first must be one.  I am struck by the eleven disciples, one is missing, one lost his way and chose not to listen to God.  I am also struck by their doubt, discipleship requires faith and is not without its moments of doubt.  Push on.  Jesus has all power in Heaven and on earth.

"I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭16:33‬.  This life will have its struggles but God has conquered it.  In the daily task of sitting with God, learning to listen to Him, you can overcome the world, He did.  You will get lost, as Judas did by not listening, it is important to listen.

We are never alone especially when things seem the darkest, God is still there.  Push on, the resurrected Christ will make His presence known.  You learn this on the journey as things do not go as expected, as you peer into the fog unsure of the next step, push on.  Doubt is part of the journey but faith overcomes all doubt, you learn this as well.

What is God saying to me?  Push on, I have conquered the world.

Dear Father, thank You for this day, thank You for this message, thank You for Your strength.  Each day offers it challenges and each day You offer hope and glory in the resurrection.  Thank You for the joy that lives within, for the knowledge that You are God and we are one, as best as I can for it is You that gives me strength.  Prayers for a young lady with a drug problem, walk with her Lord and make her whole.  Prayers for another fighting the battle of sickness, give her strength and the knowledge that You have conquered all.  Bless this day and the hope that it brings to those that faithfully follow You, Your disciples.  Amen.

Week 24 - The Journey Day 6

Week 24 - The Journey Day 6

"But Jesus cried out again in a loud voice, and gave up his spirit."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:50‬

Have you contemplated Jesus dying on the cross for you, for your sins?  It is easy to look from a distance but what about up close, knowing that the suffering that He bore is mine?  "Yet it was our pain that he bore, our sufferings he endured. We thought of him as stricken, struck down by God and afflicted, But he was pierced for our sins, crushed for our iniquity. He bore the punishment that makes us whole, by his wounds we were healed."  ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:4-5‬

Knowing how much you are loved by the Father, experiencing His love and His forgiveness, brings about healing and conviction.  "he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.  ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:8‬.  Jesus did not have to die, He did not have to experience death but He chose too.   The journey with God leads to obedience,  for you come to understand the great sacrifice and the pain that he bore.  You come to understand the great love God has for you.  We are all given the same choice, life or death.

What is God saying to me?  He did not die alone, We were there and so were you.

Dear Father, it is easy to distance ourselves from Your death, to make it impersonal but it was "I" whom You died for.  I see the great sacrifice and I see the obedience that the Son of Man has.  Give us a heart like Yours, give us a mind like Yours, remove the sin that holds us back so we can fully worship You in the holy sacrifice of the mass.  Prayers for a blessed week, thank You for all the faithful that have gone before us, looking down from Heaven cheering us on.  Help us be obedient to Your will.  In Jesus name, Amen.
