"If you lavish your food on the hungry and satisfy the afflicted; Then your light shall rise in the darkness, and your gloom shall become like midday;" Isaiah 58:10
Can you make a difference? I struggled this morning to pick a verse to reflect upon. I just sat in the silence and listened, no real thoughts coming to mind except one. A prayer a friend shared with me. This seemed to just populate my thoughts. When we give to others even when it isn't in us, their lives are better and so is yours. God calls us to share our food, to give to the hungry. I was hungry this morning and because a friend shared his spiritual food, there is light in my thoughts. What can you share today that will make a difference?
Dear Lord Jesus, it is You that gives us light, You make our days brighter. I pray I can follow Your direction, listen in the silence and hear You speak with no words. Bless this day Lord, bring peace to those afflicted today and bless the man who shared his food with me. In Jesus name, Amen.
The difference
I got up early one morning
and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me,
and heavier came each task.
"Why doesn't God help me?" I wondered.
He answered, "You didn't ask."
I wanted to see joy and beauty,
but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn't show me.
He said, "But you didn't seek."
I tried to come into God's presence;
I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided,
"My child, you didn't knock."
I woke up early this morning,
and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I had to take time to pray.
