"If you refrain from trampling the sabbath, from following your own pursuits on my holy day; If you call the sabbath a delight, the LORD's holy day glorious; If you glorify it by not following your ways, seeking your own interests, or pursuing your own affairs— Then you shall delight in the LORD, and I will make you ride upon the heights of the earth; I will nourish you with the heritage of Jacob, your father, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken." Isaiah 58:13-14
Day 3 of our Lenten journey. There is a joy in being nourished by God. To sit and listen as well as to deny our own selfish desires. We live at a time of instant response, instant satisfaction, instant relief, instant gratification where God on the other hand ask us to deny ourselves on holy days and I believe each day before we begin. Grounding ourselves in truth enables us to have the strength to take on what lies ahead even at times when we would personally like to do something else. Allow God to nourish you, no better way to start the day!
Thank You Father for the will to begin with You each day. To sit in peace and reflect upon Your Word so I may apply it to my life. You nourish my soul and enliven my spirit for doing Your will all the time. Help me this day deny my selfish desires, be my strength when I would rather do something else. I look forward to walking with You today and to learn from You today. I will heed Your voice and seek Your way, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Mother of Love, pray for us.
