Luke 13:8-9 3-24-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"He said to him in reply, 'Sir, leave it for this year also, and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it; it may bear fruit in the future. If not you can cut it down.'" ‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:8-9‬

Day 18 of our Lenten journey:  Imagine the fig tree is your soul, you are the gardener and God the Father is the cultivator, Jesus is the Master Gardner and the Holy Spirit is the fertilizer.  The tree needs tending, it needs water, it needs weeded and it needs pruned.  How many times do we, the one who cares for the tree, turn to the Triune God for help.  What happens when we don't, the weeds choke out the good nutrients, the tree gets over grown, it becomes dry and weary and it doesn't produce any fruit.  You are the gardener, the more you care for your soul, the more the tree grows and in due season produces much fruit.  Cultivate the ground with the Word of God each day, feed the soul with truth which eliminates the weeds and sit in His presence each day.  The choice is yours.

Dear Triune God, I love being pruned and cared for by the Master Gardener there is much to learn and I, Your servant need what You can provide.  Over come my weakness's of apathy and sleuth to not neglect caring for my soul.  Your Son shines on all but those who are listening are fed the best.  Bless this day Father, thank You for tilling the ground and breathing new life into us that have been asleep.  To You be the Glory for ever and ever, Amen.

Mary, Mother of Peace, pray for us.
