Psalms 55 - Self examination.

"For it is not an enemy that reviled me— that I could bear— Not a foe who viewed me with contempt, from that I could hide. But it was you, my other self, my comrade and friend, You, whose company I enjoyed, at whose side I walked in the house of God." Psalms‬ ‭55:13-15‬

Psalms 55 - Self examination.  It is easy to look outward and see the splinter in your brothers eye but what about inward.  David spends time looking inward and sees the ways he entertained evil.  How does he overcome the things he does not want to do or think?  He calls upon the Lord.  "Cast your care upon the LORD, who will give you support. He will never allow the righteous to stumble. But you, God, will bring them down to the pit of destruction. These bloodthirsty liars will not live half their days, but I put my trust in you."  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭55:23-24‬.  Ask Jesus to be your other self, He has defeated the sin within you.

What is God saying to me:  We have work to do, be courageous, together it can be done.
Dear Father, I thank You for this day and this time, for the introspection within.  I ask for your help as we do some house cleaning.  Bless this day Father as we walk together, my other self that I strive to become.  Amen.

Psalms 54 - God is His name.

"God is present as my helper; the Lord sustains my life." ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭54:6‬

Psalms 54 - God is His name.  When you think about God what image does He give you?  As I think about God, I see His awesome power, I hear His mighty thunder and I but a spec of dust in the universe am well secure.  There are many images all of which paint a mighty Protector, a loving Father.  I recall a time when God and I didn't communicate, it wasn't that He wasn't trying, it was I not listening.  Life wasn't as secure, it was all me going back and forth spinning my wheels.  God, the awesome companion that no matter what, in unity there is security.

What is God saying to me:  I see you and I hear you and you see Me and you recognize Me.

Dear Father, You always know what to say and paint the best pictures in my life.  We need this reminder from time to time to know that all will be well.  The thunder still rolls and I Am still secure.  Prayers of thanksgiving for the bountiful rain today, for the great reminder and for Your loving protection.  Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy upon us and on the whole world.  Amen.

Psalms 53 - Being set free

"Who will bring forth from Zion the salvation of Israel? When God reverses the captivity of his people Jacob will rejoice and Israel will be glad."  Psalms‬ ‭53:7‬

Psalms 53 - Being set free.  David sees the persecution going on around him, he feels the lack of faith yet he knows God will act.  He looks at history and is reminded that God always comes to the rescue of His people.  Recalling bible stories gives one hope and peace as God continues to write His story.  God works within the quiet of our souls and seeks our obedience, to honor and praise Him.  In these quiet times, He allows you to see, you just need to be obedient and then wait upon the Lord.

What is God saying to me:  Nothing goes unnoticed, I see all, truth overcomes evil.

Dear Father, You sit with me this morning and listen, Your presence reveals truth and sets us free from what holds us back when we are obedient to Your will and our will matches Yours.  Prayers for a friend getting operated on today, may Your healing hands be upon Him and the medical staff that is doing Your will.  Bless this day Father, Thank You for the lessons of David as he walked through time.  May I be a pleasing offering to You today, Amen.

Psalms 52 - the battle rages on.

""Behold the man! He did not take God as his refuge, but he trusted in the abundance of his wealth, and grew powerful through his wickedness." But I, like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God, I trust in God's mercy forever and ever."  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭52:9-10‬

Psalms 52 - The battle rages on.  We each make choices in life in what or who we worship.  King Saul worshipped his wealth and in doing so grew wicked, he sought David out.  David worshipped God and placed his trust in Him, no matter the circumstances, he trusted God.  Quite a contrast between the two men, now with time as the distance the battle still rages on, good vs evil.  We each choose who we serve, one brings peace, the other is never satisfied.  Are you building the Kingdom or tearing it down?

What is God saying to me:  David trusted his life to Me, Saul turned from Me and allowed jealousy to control his desires.

Dear Father, I trust in You, the arrows fly by but none hit their target.  Help us see the battle being played out on the field of life.  May we all trust in You and Your mercy.  Prayers for a friend confused with hatred for another and is under its control.  Bless this day Father, may I use it wisely, Amen.

Psalms 51 - A Repentant Heart

"A clean heart create for me, God; renew within me a steadfast spirit. Do not drive me from before your face, nor take from me your holy spirit. Restore to me the gladness of your salvation; uphold me with a willing spirit."  Psalms‬ ‭51:12-14‬

Psalms 51 - A Repentant Heart.  In order to get a better understanding of Psalms 51, one must read 2 Samuel 12.  King David had drawn away from God, the sin of his past he had blotted out of his memory yet it was still there impacting the now.  God has ways of reminding us of His love and His forgiveness.  David came back to God with a contrite heart, with a repentant heart.  God renewed his spirit and with the wisdom he gained can move forward with a clean heart.  God answered his prayers completely.  God does not forsake us but He will remind us of what needs addressed.

What is God saying to me:  Listen

Dear Father, it is such a beautiful morning, I can't help but ponder Your words.  Bless this day, watch over us and continue to love us in ways that we need.  Prayers for a cousin who is bedridden with Coronavirus, may Your healing hand be upon Him.  Amen.

Psalms 50 - God’s Heart

"The God of gods, the LORD, has spoken and summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. From Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth. Our God comes and will not be silent! Devouring fire precedes him, it rages strongly around him. He calls to the heavens above and to the earth to judge his people: "Gather my loyal ones to me, those who made a covenant with me by sacrifice." The heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is the judge."  Psalms‬ ‭50:1-6‬

Psalms 50 - God's Heart.  We all hear about the God of Mercy, do we hear about the God of Justice?  They are the same God and within scripture He reveals Himself to us.  He sits back and sends His Son to rescue us, He gives us the Advocate to teach and guide us but like any father there comes a time when one isn't listening that love takes the form of justice.  My words will not convey the message but Psalm 50 will.  We see what we want to see, just like a little child but if we aren't corrected in our ways, the pain falls upon the father or mother.  Listen to God's heart, read His word, allow His devouring fire to cleanse the soul for He will do exactly as He says.  The devouring fire is preceding Him.

What is God saying to me:  Be faithful for I Am faithful.

Dear Father, I pray for the devouring fire to come, to enflame the heart of man to Your ways.  Bless this day Father, May we see as You see.  Amen.

Psalms 49 - Dead man walking

"No man can ransom even a brother, or pay to God his own ransom.

But God will redeem my life, will take me from the hand of Sheol." Psalms‬ ‭49:8, 16‬

Psalms 49 - Dead man walking.  Death, have you thought about your own death?  What will it be like?  Does death scare you?  It is a reality that each of us will face sooner or later.  Building ones own riches does not make it go away.  There was a man who willing crawled onto a cross and died for our sins, the sins of self, the sin of pride, the sin of power.  He took all of this upon himself for you and defeated death.  It is Him who you owe your life too, you can trust the riches of this world and surely die or you can trust Jesus for paying the full price.  Who are you going to serve?  Death will still knock at your door, do not be a dead man walking but live in the spirit of Christ, death has no power over Him nor does money, wealth, pride, ego or sin.

What is God saying to me: Pray

Dear Father, I see Your unconditional love that You look with, we are all the same in Your eyes.  Death can have its grip in our lives if we allow it, it pulls at us in various ways and works at hardening our hearts.  You are breaking that grip and sharing Your unconditional love with us in personal ways.  Show me the ways that I deny You in my life and break that bondage that holds me back from loving You more.  Prayers for several who are trapped in this world and are blind to the schemes of the devil, free them from this trap.  Help me see with Your eyes, bless my conversations and be ever on my tongue.  I ask this in Jesus's name, Amen.

Psalms 48 - A fortified City

"Like your name, O God, so is your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is fully victorious.

Go about Zion, walk all around it, note the number of its towers. Consider the ramparts, examine its citadels, that you may tell future generations: That this is God, our God for ever and ever. He will lead us until death."  Psalms‬ ‭48:11, 13-15‬

Psalms 48 - A fortified City.  Where does your strength come from?  I look at God over the centuries and He is always victorious even when it looks like He lost, He won.  Why would you oppose Him?   Lack of knowledge or understanding, lack of faith?  Within His walls there is strength, there is understanding, there is faith that though the walls are being battered, He will not be defeated.  Even in death He was not defeated, He triumphed over death.  In the silence of your heart, see God in His fortified city and join ranks with Him.  It is a fight that sheds no blood and lead to His holy city.

What is God saying to me:

Dear Father, You are my strength, I see the battle rages on, the dogs are barking and yet there is no fear, no doubt what the outcome will be.  Build within us trust and strength of understanding when we need it most.  Prepare us for that day that our strength is no longer ours but Yours.  Prayers for those that are going hunger and are lost, may they be satisfied by You.  Prayers for a couple trusting in Your divine will all will be well.  Prayers for a family that lost a father may they be consoled.  Father I trust in You this day, You are my strength, a fortified city.  Amen.

Psalms 47 - Salvation

"God has gone up with a shout; the LORD, amid trumpet blasts. Sing praise to God, sing praise; sing praise to our king, sing praise. For God is king over all the earth; sing hymns of praise."  Psalms‬ ‭47:6-8‬

Psalms 47 - Salvation.   As man, Jesus went into the desert to prepare Himself for what was coming.   In that time of reflection, did He contemplate these words, did He know that He would be raised up?  He said so in scripture.  "saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day.""
‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:22‬ ‭  Jesus knew His story, do you know yours?  Contemplating God's word and your own life brings about a joyful heart for you know Truth.  Being rescued from a past that lead to destruction, being cleansed of sin, all bring about a joyful heart, for you know how God operated in your life.  Maybe you haven't gotten there yet, sing praise.  "Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."  2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:7‬  Sing Praise for death has been defeated, God is King over all the earth and of you, if you allow Him.

What is God saying to me: Listen

Dear Father, so many memories this morning that brings about a joyful heart, even in the troubles You were there when I wasn't.  You prepare the way Father and You prepare the heart for a joyful day that just wants to sing praise.  I thank You for the blessings of this world being in the desert, at times a little scary but also with the realization that You will not, can not forsake us.  We are Your children and we are called to give You thanks.   "In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus."  ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:18‬   Speak Lord for Your servant is listening.  Triune God be my all.  Triune God be my all.  Triune God be my all.  Amen.

Psalms 46 - God is with us.

"Streams of the river gladden the city of God, the holy dwelling of the Most High. God is in its midst; it shall not be shaken; God will help it at break of day. Though nations rage and kingdoms totter, he utters his voice and the earth melts. The LORD of hosts is with us; our stronghold is the God of Jacob."  Psalms‬ ‭46:5-8‬

Psalms 46 - God is with us.  Where do you draw your strength from during these tumultuous times?   I can't imagine waking up this morning and just listen to the news of the morning.   There is nothing being gladdened by what you will here.  Beginning the day in silence and listening for the day to wake up as God speaks to your heart, this will provide streams that gladden your heart.  Knowing that God is in control and you just have to live and not be anxious about anything.  Having faith in God that all is well is a gift, this is where you will find your stronghold, this is where you will put oil in your lamp and experience the break of day with God.  Do not be one of the foolish virgins waiting for the Master to return and be unprepared.

What is God saying to me:  It was silent this morning but you did hear the birds wake up and sing their Song to me, they have concern for nothing other than to enjoy the day, you likewise.

Dear Father, it is such a peaceful morning listening to the silence, a cricket chirps every once in awhile.  Your Spirit speaks to my heart and brings about peace and joy knowing that all is well.  You have prepared the day Father, You have put Your Spirit within so I have oil.  Father, I pray for those living in fear, may they find time to listen to the silence early in the morning and allow You to provide oil for their lamp.  There is a lot that can cause us concern but like the birds, You will provide and take care of us if we are obedient to Your voice.  I pray this in the name of Your Son, Jesus, Amen.

Psalms 45 - Our Queen Mother

"I will make your name renowned through all generations; thus nations shall praise you forever."  Psalms‬ ‭45:18‬

Psalms 45 - Our Queen Mother.  It stands to reason if Jesus is foretold about in scripture, our Mother Mary is also spoken of.  God does not do anything without first telling us about what is to come.  Scripture paints the picture of the mother of Jesus and then we are given the mother of Jesus.  "cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb."  Luke‬ ‭1:42‬.   If we are to know God's plan, we first must read it, both Old and New Testament, you can not have one without the other.

What is God saying to me:  I always prepare the way.

Dear Father, I thank You for this morning, for revealing life within Your Word.  Bless this day Lord, may  I ponder Your Word today as I go about doing what I do.  Prayers for those who do not open up Your Word and sit at Your feet, You have the words of everlasting life that speaks to the heart.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Divine Mercy Sunday - An act of faith.

"Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."  John‬ ‭20:28-29‬

Divine Mercy Sunday - An act of faith.  I have seen the Lord, like Thomas I had doubts.  Maybe it was the message of the world that got in the way, that interfered with seeing.  I look back on that time and I can say I was completely open to what could happen.  Thomas had heard the stories and wanted to believe, he loved Jesus but needed to see for himself.   Be open to the possibilities of Christ, I have witnessed Him enter a room and speak "Peace be with you."

What is God saying to me:  Just be

Dear Father, I hear the rumblings this morning, I see a people being prepared, some are ready, others need belief.   I trust in You in all situations, I ask that You help my unbelief, like that day, I am open to what You have made ready.   Prayers for all those who have yet to believe, in their doubts open up the reality of Truth thru Your Divine Mercy.  You are the Giver of hope and everlasting Joy.  I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Easter Friday - God will provide.

When they climbed out on shore, they saw a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread.

Jesus said to them, "Come, have breakfast." And none of the disciples dared to ask him, "Who are you?" because they realized it was the Lord."  John‬ ‭21:9, 12

Easter Friday - God will provide.  The disciples go fishing, where they trying to return to a life that was normal to them in the past?   They didn't catch fish until they listened to Jesus, and Jesus didn't need their fish for He was already preparing breakfast for the day.  We are living in strange times and our spirits yearn for a life that was once normal yet God tells us to listen to His Son.  He will nourish our souls and spirits, on our own we are lost.  With Him we are well fed.  Do not worry about tomorrow, sit and relish the feast the Risen Lord will provide.  It is the best part of the day, food for the soul gives light to your day and joy in your heart.  God bless, Listen to the voice of God in your heart and smell the fresh bread and grilled fish when you sit at His feet.

What is God saying to me:  I will provide, stop your worrying and angst, has the grass stopped growing?  Do the birds still sing.  Tomorrow will be a glorious day, eat I have prepared much for this day and you need your spiritual food.

Dear Father, You hear my heart and its yearnings.  You paint a picture in my mind and it feels the pain yet knows the joy of being fed by You.  Thank You Father for always preparing us for the day.  I am blessed to sit at your feet and listen as a little child.  A child does not have many worries and only sees this day and the joy of a hopeful tomorrow, thank You for putting that spirit within me.  Prayers for all those who due to circumstances can not find the peace they long for, You Father know how to feed them and I trust in You to bring peace into their hearts even as the waves continue to come.  Bless this day and be ever at my side, Amen.

Easter Thursday - Looking for a sign

"Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread. While they were still speaking about this, he stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you." But they were startled and terrified and thought that they were seeing a ghost. Then he said to them, "Why are you troubled? And why do questions arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have."" ‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:35-39‬

Easter Thursday - Looking for a sign.  The simplicity of scripture and the hidden treasure within God's word.  We as a people have not changed much over the years.  We look for the new and exciting missing the opportunity to encounter the saving grace of God.  We also question in our hearts can this really be the Christ?  What do others know that I do not.  It is Jesus in the flesh, He has never left us.  "For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink."  John‬ ‭6:55‬. The one we seek is the Christ, that yearning in your heart is God calling.  Peter says it best: "Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away, and that the Lord may grant you times of refreshment and send you the Messiah already appointed for you, Jesus," Acts‬ ‭3:19-20‬

What is God saying to me:

Dear Father, deep calls from deep, I see a mighty work beginning.  I thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit upon us Father as You reveal to us the mysteries of Your Kingdom.  Bless this day Lord and feed us with spiritual food. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Easter Wednesday - Hidden in plain sight

"Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the scriptures.

And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:27, 30-31‬. (Read Luke 24:13-35)

Easter Wednesday - Hidden in plain sight.   Another story of Jesus hidden from His followers as He was with them.  To Cleopas and His companion Jesus was a prophet, He was not the Messiah.  Jesus revealed Himself in the stories of truth from the prophets.  Their hearts revealed truth to them for the were burning on the inside.  But it wasn't until Jesus gave them communion did they recognize the Messiah.  How many of us do not recognize Jesus and He is right in front of us.  My prayer is that our hearts burn for Him when we are in His presence the next time we break bread with Him.

What is God saying to me:  Faith

Dear Father, as we walk with You, You reveal truth to us as we go on the way.  Even during these times You are revealing truth and developing our yearning for truth from a distance.   Thank You Father for sending us Your Son, even when He is hidden from us, we desire to know more and develop a deeper relationship with You.  You reveal Yourself to those who are prepared to receive You, prepare us during these times and speak truth into our hearts.  Prayers for a friend cooped up in a home, all will be well, prayers for another needing healing, all will be well.  Bless this day Lord and continue to reveal Yourself to us as we walk with You each day.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Easter Tuesday - Go

"Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?" She thought it was the gardener and said to him, "Sir, if you carried him away, tell me where you laid him, and I will take him." Jesus said to her, "Mary!" She turned and said to him in Hebrew, "Rabbouni," which means Teacher. Jesus said to her, "Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, 'I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"" ‭‭John‬ ‭20:15-17‬

Easter Tuesday - Go.  Mary mistakes the risen Jesus for the gardener, how does that happen?  In what ways do we hold onto Jesus?  Jesus commissioned Mary that morning to let go and let God.  Mary had been taught by Jesus now she was to go, to go into action.  We can sit back and wait for Jesus but He gets our attention and tells us to go.  Live the Gospel.  "So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
‭‭James‬ ‭2:17‬

What is God saying to me:

Dear Lord, You have prepared the ground Lord, You have planted the seed, conditions are right for growth but it is us that must grow.  We can not sit still and expect growth, thank You for the encouragement today Lord.  Thank You for the water that nourishes the spirit that will produce good fruit.  Thank You Father for the imagery within Your word.  Prayers for a friend who stepped out on faith, may he continue to grow in his faith.  Prayers for another finding new life in his ministry, You never fail us when we ask for help.  Bless this day Lord, keep us safe and use me where You need me.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Easter Monday - He is Alive

"You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.'"  ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:28‬. (Read Acts 2:14, 22-33)

Easter Monday - He is Alive.  Peter, the one chosen by Jesus to have the keys to Heaven has gone from being fearful to proclaiming the Kingdom of Heaven, what changed? The Word has come alive.  He quotes Psalm 16, the scripture has become real for just like David, he has seen the Lord, he no longer walks in fear but in life, the life that only Christ can give.  The journey has gone from his head to his heart and he no longer hides in fear but boldly gives the good news.  This didn't happen overnight for Peter, it took time, three years, but during those three years he walked with Jesus.  Jesus spoke to him and gave him insight that shed light into truth.  So no matter where you are on your journey continue living in the presence of God, He will paint the picture and your world will be transformed just like Peters was.  Happy Easter, Jesus lives in you!

What is God saying to me: I walk with you day by day, the journey does not happen overnight.  Look at Moses, he did not become the man he was until he endured many hardships.  This builds faith and trust within so you will know where your strength comes from.

Dear Father, it is a glorious Easter season this year, even though we are facing hardships and trials due to illness we are also being strengthened to trust in You.  You are making Your presence known in so many lives, the bondage of sin is being broken and many are coming out of the tomb to new life.   Thank You Father for a beautiful day, thank You for good memories with family near and wide.  Thank You for technology that connects us to loved ones and to introduce us to family we have never met.  Prayers for those that have lost family due to this illness, comfort them Father with faith and trust.  Bless this day and may we each proclaim Your word in ways that only we can.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Happy Easter Sunday - Give witness.

"Then the angel said to the women in reply, "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you.""  Matthew‬ ‭28:5-7‬

Happy Easter Sunday - Give witness.  The first Easter Sunday, the day death was defeated.  The followers of Jesus came to the tomb to see, was Jesus there, did He rise from the dead like He said He would.  "From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised."  Matthew‬ ‭16:21‬.  Peter spent the last three days pondering his life with Christ, pondering his sin and listening to God's voice.  This day would be different for Peter for everything that the Shepherd had said has been fulfilled, Peter has seen and believes.  Jesus was not in the tomb but was going on ahead to meet them in Galilee.  Peter's life was transformed that morning, the joy in his heart gives witness to the Risen Lord.  "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said." Just like Peter, give witness to the Risen Christ in your life.  In Peter's own words: "He commissioned us to preach to the people and testify that he is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead."  ‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:42‬

What is God saying to me: Happy Easter morning My son, I Am not in the tomb of sin and death but I Am among the living that give witness to My saving grace.

Dear Father, I ponder Your actions these past forty plus days, the graces You have given, the insight that You have revealed.  There is a joy burning within that gives witness to a life transformed.  I thank You Father for atoning for my sin many years ago and I am beginning to understand the joy of living in peace, learning to walk by faith.  There is much to be gleaned when we sit in Your presence and listen.  Father, I pray for the hearts yearning for You, yearning to be at peace, You are the Holy One of Israel that comes to set them free and give life where death once resided.  Thank You Jesus for bringing hope, thank You Holy Spirit for your gentle wisdom and power.  And Thank You Father for repeating the story until it became real.  To Jesus be the glory this fine Easter Day.  Amen.

Holy Saturday - Love will penetrate.

"But I will show the holiness of my great name, desecrated among the nations, in whose midst you desecrated it. Then the nations shall know that I am the LORD —oracle of the Lord GOD —when through you I show my holiness before their very eyes. I will take you away from among the nations, gather you from all the lands, and bring you back to your own soil. I will sprinkle clean water over you to make you clean; from all your impurities and from all your idols I will cleanse you. I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my spirit within you so that you walk in my statutes, observe my ordinances, and keep them." Ezekiel‬ ‭36:23-27‬

Holy Saturday - Love will penetrate.  Holy Saturday, God reminds us each year why He created the Heavens and earth, man and women.  He shows us the purity of His thoughts and His faithful servants throughout the years.  He shows His faithful response to man as we denied Him yet He does not stop.  We, in our own lives must decide if Jesus will stay confined in the cold dark tomb of sin or will we open the door to new life and live as a new creation.  Abraham, Moses, Noah, David, Jesus all responded to God's voice with "Here I Am".  Tomorrow we will celebrate His resurrection, this lent has been like no other yet for some He stands and knocks, ready to be awakened into a glorious day.  Simple steps of faith each day awakens Christ in our lives, living in hope and trust and knowing death has been defeated.  He stands at the door and knocks.

What is God saying to me: I stand and knock, what are you leaving behind this year,  never to return to again as you experience newness of life with the Risen Lord.

Dear Father God, it is such a beautiful morning that You have blessed us with.  Thank You for taking care of us, for continually reminding us that Your ways are not our ways.  Thank You Father for giving us the Church and it's message of hope that is repeated to us each year.  Bless this day Father as you prepare us for a Glorious Easter rising.  In the name above every other name, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Good Friday - Called out of darkness.

"Yet it was our pain that he bore, our sufferings he endured. We thought of him as stricken, struck down by God and afflicted, But he was pierced for our sins, crushed for our iniquity. He bore the punishment that makes us whole, by his wounds we were healed. We had all gone astray like sheep, all following our own way; But the LORD laid upon him the guilt of us all."  Isaiah‬ ‭53:4-6‬

Good Friday - Called out of darkness.  Today is Good Friday, the day that we remember the sufferings of Christ.  Jesus physically paid the price for our sins, He bore the pain, to deny His suffering denies His resurrection, it denies our resurrection.  A man lead to slaughter, who bore our sins, everyone of them.  I know no one other who willingly died for me, in knowing the pain that He carried, this gives me strength for He paid it all, all of my debt He paid.  Why would I not contemplate His journey on this day?

We have all been giving a sense of darkness in our lives, a time to think, what is my mortality?  Will I be ok?  When will this end?  Without the suffering there is no resurrection, you are being called out of darkness.  You are being asked to live in Jesus, not in the depths of your sin, He paid for that.  What are you going to do differently when our resurrection day comes, you are being called into holiness, into God's army.

What is God saying to me:  I am sitting beside My Father, I see the pain and suffering, the mental anguish.  I also see hope being restored, families being healed, time being given back to what is truly important.  You can become slaves and not even realize it.  I Am that gives hope.

Dear Father, I pray Father for those entrapped by their sins and not knowing.  I pray for freedom from bondage of the evil one.  You are awakening Your people to the value of life and the value of time, may we not waste it on frivolous things that only gain us a heavy burden.  May we pick up the cross of another today to help them on their journey.  Father I trust in You for the outcome knowing that all is well.  Prayers for a friend that is beginning their chemo treatment.  Prayers for many who have lost jobs or are having pay cut, may they do as You do and live in peace.  These are not easy tasks to live in peace but You have already carried the load, we just have to finish the race.  With You, the yoke is easy and the burden is light.  Thank You for sending Your Son to die for me.  Have mercy upon us Father as You bless this day, Amen.

Holy Thursday - The Last Supper

"For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and, after he had given thanks, broke it and said, "This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes."  ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:23-26‬

Holy Thursday - The Last Supper.  There is a quiet confidence in Jesus the night of His last actions, He knew His hour had come.  Before He leaves He celebrates His life, death and resurrection.  He handed over His body, as food for the journey, as a blessing to our souls.  Paul, in his words in Corinthians, he understood the Passover meal, the saving grace that it gave to the Jews now in the Last Supper of His Lord, even though he wasn't there he completely understood the simplicity of Jesus's actions.  Jesus did not leave without preparing Himself and us with food for the journey.  He honors His Father as He passes over from this life to eternal life.

What is God saying to me: There is power in the stillness and simplicity of My Sons actions the night before His death.  This was His gift to you so no matter where in life you find yourself, He is always there.  Believe

Dear Father, this Lenten journey draws to an end and it has been a difficult one celebrating from a distance but I know there is purpose in all that You do.  The simplicity of life is to be pondered, the results that we seek are they fulfilling.  I thank You for Your love that continues to transform my life, I thank You for sending Your Son to suffer on my behalf.  I thank You for the bread of life that You give today, may I in simple ways make a difference through Your love.  Prayers for those struggling to breath because of covid19, heal them Lord and give them new life, in Your Son Jesus.  Bless this day Father, Amen.

Wednesday of Holy Week - Rabbi or Lord

"And while they were eating, he said, "Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me." Deeply distressed at this, they began to say to him one after another, "Surely it is not I, Lord?"

Then Judas, his betrayer, said in reply, "Surely it is not I, Rabbi?" He answered, "You have said so." ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:21-22, 25‬

Wednesday of Holy Week - Rabbi or Lord.  The disciples all journeyed with Jesus, they all experienced the same miracles, they witnessed healings, they worshipped together, they all received the same love yet Judas doesn't see Jesus as Lord but as teacher.  Judas kept his distance and was seeking head knowledge, he hadn't let Jesus into his heart.  From your head to your heart is a long journey but a simple decision.  Has Jesus gone from being your teacher to your Lord.  Is there things in your life that you are willing to put in front of Jesus?  We have to make space for God in our lives otherwise we know about God but we do not know God in a personal way.  At some point we will be willing to sell out for something that looks more attractive, this is what happened to Judas.  He was going thru the motions but hadn't let God be his all.  Rabbi or Lord.

What is God saying to me:  I (Jesus) went to the temple not to be entertained or taught but to worship My Father in Heaven.  He is in My heart, there is unity with Us.

Dear Lord God, I am thankful this morning for all the blessings that these days are giving.  The blessing of time to enjoy each other's company, the blessing of simplicity to focus on what is truly important.  I am thankful for You being Lord of my life and for the opportunities that arise from that.  I thank You for the lessons that are being taught, the memories being made and for the laughter.  I pray for those journeying alone, may they feel Your love in their hearts and never be alone.  Prayers for those who call You Rabbi, may they see the things that You wish to show them to make that transition from Rabbi to Lord.  Bless this day Lord, may our efforts bring about a harvest that pleases You.  I ask this in the name of the Lord, Amen.

Tuesday of Holy Week - A servants heart

"Simon Peter said to him, "Master, where are you going?" Jesus answered [him], "Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, though you will follow later.""  ‭‭John‬ ‭13:36‬

Tuesday of Holy Week - A servants heart.   Jesus had just washed the feet of the disciples and had reclined at table with them.  Judas had been allowed to go his way and the rest were at the Masters side.  Jesus was surrounded by His faithful followers and He was serving them.  He knew their fears, their anxieties, their strengths and their paths forward.  They each would follow in Jesus's footsteps yet Jesus knew they needed the Holy Spirit to fulfill their mission in life.  Be humble of heart and allow God to lead, Judas had a hardened heart and this lead to his destruction.  The others served until their days were done on this earth.  We will follow one or the other for they each chose their path.

What is God saying to me: My heart is instilled in each and needs to be nurtured, it needs to be fed by My Holy Spirit otherwise it will become hardened and obstinate.

Dear Father, I see You reclining at table feeding Your disciples the finest of meals and teaching, showing the way forward by example.  To recline with You is a joy and to listen to You, is a treasure.  Like the first apostles, You know me through and through with all my flaws.  Father, I trust in You and rely upon Your Holy Spirit to guide my steps.  There are days I fall short but You are always there with open arms to wash my feet and prepare me for another day.  Thank You Father for another day.  Amen.

Monday of Holy Week - preparation

"Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil made from genuine aromatic nard and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair; the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil."  ‭‭John‬ ‭12:3‬

Monday of Holy Week - Preparation.  John 12:1-11.  After you read this scripture, close your eyes, put yourself in the scene and prepare yourself for this Holy Week.  What do you see, do you smell the perfumed oil?  Do you see who is committed to follow Christ, do you see those that are not committed to follow?  God is always out in front.  Jesus didn't ask to be bathed in perfumed oil but He was prepared for His own death.  Mary, didn't comprehend the events that were coming or did she?  She was committed to her Father in Heaven.  Her heart had been touched and transformed to love God.  Her thoughts were not upon herself but upon her Triune God.  Smell the fragrance, it fills the air, it tickles the senses.  It calms the tension that is in the air for Jesus is preparing to die for our sins, an innocent man, the Lamb being lead to slaughter.

What is God saying to me:  You see what I see.

Dear Father, You always know what is coming, prepare our hearts to receive the Lamb of God, to be ready for whatever tomorrow has to reveal, scripture will be fulfilled, You are the Living Word who died and rose from the dead for each of us.  May I be obedient to Your call in my life, may I respond wholeheartedly as Mary did.  Prayers for those families who have lost a loved one and are having to grieve alone, fill their senses with joyous memories, fill the air with happy times and give them peace that only You can give.  Prepare the way Lord.  Triune God be my all.  Triune God be my all. Triune God be my all.

Palm Sunday - You have said so

"And the whole people said in reply, "His blood be upon us and upon our children."  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭27:25‬

Palm Sunday - You have said so.  Words have power, I contemplate the words in today's readings.  "Hosanna to the Son of David", as Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a colt from the crowds. The people cheering their King only to deny Him days later.  Judas saying "Surely it is not I, Rabbi" when Jesus gives him the opportunity for confessions.  Peter in his pride willing to die with Jesus only to deny Him three times.   Pilates question "Are you the King of the Jews" only for Jesus to respond with "you say so".  The crowd yelling "crucify Him", when they chose Barabbas over Jesus.  Our own words will confirm or deny Christ in our lives.  When judgement day comes, I wonder if Jesus will sit quietly like He did during His passion and we will see how our words will bring life or death to us.  It is the beginning of Holy Week, contemplate the Passion of Christ and what role He plays in our life.  He is the King of Glory.

What is God saying to me: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."  ‭‭John‬ ‭1:1‬.  Words have power use them wisely.

Dear Father, You break down the Gospel today into bite size pieces highlighting key words to reflect upon.  You showed how Jesus does not defend Himself other than using the words of those He is speaking with.  What role do words play in our lives?  Am I being obedient to Your Word, I pray I am but also know that Jesus died for me a sinner.  Help me not become prideful in my journey, keep me humble of mind and body as we walk together.  I pray that on judgement day that Your mercy fall upon me and the blood of Jesus, even in my ignorance always praise you.  Prayers for the medical workers going out in Faith, prayers for the clergy bringing Your word to us, prayers for the end of this virus.  Prayers for a special Holy Week, may we contemplate our own journeys and how we live out the gospel in our owns lives.  You are the Son of David and You are my King, be greater in me.  Amen.

Psalms 44 - Refined by Fire

"Not with their own swords did they conquer the land, nor did their own arms bring victory; It was your right hand, your own arm, the light of your face for you favored them.

For you we are slain all the day long, considered only as sheep to be slaughtered.

Rise up, help us! Redeem us in your mercy."
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭44:4, 23, 27‬

Psalms 44 - Refined by Fire.  It is easy to walk with God when You see the victories, you see the battles being won, you are experiencing consolation(rejoicing in your soul).  But what about when you do not see God in the actions, you are not feeling anything, what then?  Will you still call out to Him, will you still trust Him.  Jesus walked in His victories for along time but when the world was against Him, He did not turn His face away from His Father, He did not deny His Father.  In the Refiners Fire we are being prepared just like His Son, it will be a glorious day and the mercy of God will be upon us.  Fear not for He is with you, March on.

What is God saying to me: Battles are being won, understanding is growing, Grace is abounding in Love.  Stay the course, My words have purpose even those of the past.

Dear Lord God, I hear You speaking loudly this morning, it isn't a faint whisper but a mighty voice.  You are my strength, I pray for all those who are putting it all on the line Father, I pray I have the strength if ever asked.  Prayers for friends with health issues may You rise up in their midst and bring victory.  Bless this day Father, thank You for the bountiful rain, it is a quenching to the soul.  Praise be the name of Jesus, Amen.

Psalms 43 - The Spirit of Hope.

"Send your light and your fidelity, that they may be my guide; Let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place of your dwelling,"  Psalms‬ ‭43:3‬

Psalms 43 - The Spirit of Hope.  There is a yearning for hope within us, our spirits seeks this hope out.  In our blindness we seek hope in the material things or flesh of this world but true hope and happiness comes from above, from our Father in Heaven.  These times may have you feeling down, feeling sorrow and distress.  Do as Jesus does and look up, look up to the Father and seek the light of hope.  There is no victory without pain and suffering, Jesus experienced it but He also did not lose hope for His strength is from above.  Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  A life lives in faith is a holy mountain, it is a place of refreshment all the time for just when you are about to run out of fuel, hope shows up.  Be at peace today God is at work within.

What is God saying to me:  I Am here when you call upon me, I Am always here for I will never leave you.

Dear Father, it is truly a blessed morning, to spend time in the presence of holy people is such a time of joy, hope and faith.  Dear Lore, strengthen the hearts of your faithful so they may go out into the community and live their faith in ways that only You know how to reach others.  I pray for all those people who are on the battle lines, giving of themselves so others can be safe and be cured.  Father watch over them with Your Mighty hand, may they be surrounded by the blood of Jesus.  Prayers for a friend going thru a difficult time, their strength is from above, be with them in body, mind and soul  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Psalms 42 - In the darkness

"My soul thirsts for God, the living God. When can I enter and see the face of God?

Why are you downcast, my soul; why do you groan within me? Wait for God, for I shall again praise him, my savior and my God." ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭42:3, 6‬

Psalms 42 - In the darkness.  Exiled in a foreign land where nothing seems familiar, you long for the comfort of normal.  We are in a sense exiled from our normal way of lives.  Those that attended church can not go and thirst to enter in, those that had a casual relationship or no relationship with God are wondering where God is, we are all in the same boat.  Jesus was exiled as one of us, His soul thirsted to be with His Father and so do ours.  We seek to be reunited with our Creator, the maker of our souls.  In this time that may seem like darkness, know that you are not alone, God is right there with you waiting for you to refresh yourself with His presence.  "Be strong and steadfast; have no fear or dread of them, for it is the LORD, your God, who marches with you; he will never fail you or forsake you."  ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:6‬.  "Deep calls to deep", this is your strength in the darkness.

What is God saying to me: Inner Peace comes from knowledge and knowledge comes from familiarity.  Read My word and listen to My voice, I call out in the darkness.

Dear Father, there is peace this morning in the stillness and a gratitude for living the way we are living.  We may not be able to celebrate as a whole but my soul is celebrating the victory that is being accomplished during these times.  I pray for all those facing their fears, may You Father speak louder in their lives.  May they find peace in knowing You, the Living God, knowing we will be reunited when the time is right.  Prayers for those living with the unknown, help them see that You are in control, You are the Master of the universe and we are to take pleasure in the simple things in life and not to be stressing with what we can not control.  You Father, will not forsake us and I know You hear us calling out.  Bless this day, fill it with peace and help us know we will be united again.   I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Psalms 41 - Be still and let God

""But you, LORD, take note of me to raise me up that I may repay them." By this I will know you are pleased with me, that my enemy no longer shouts in triumph over me. In my integrity may you support me and let me stand in your presence forever."  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭41:11-13‬

Psalms 41 - Be still and let God.  One of the hardest lessons to learn is to be still and let God, in my opinion.  Jesus lived this His entire life, taking direction from His Father, all the way to the cross.  He rose from the dead and His enemy had been defeated, the worst had been defeated for He lives.  In our own lives we need to learn to be still, take in what comes our way and trust in the guidance of our Father above.  Not to act in haste but allow Him to work for you, live in His presence all the days of your life.  I am thankful there is repentance for I am still a work in progress that still needs refined.

What is God saying to me:  Be still and listen, the song bird knows his place and time.  Do as he does.

Dear Father, there are many anxieties turning within that the only control I have is how I respond to outside influences.  Be greater in me than the i in me, you know the best way forward and do not need my help other than be obedient.  I thank You for the plans that are in motion that will continue to grow and bear fruit in the future.  Forgive me for my rashness, may I not forget these lesson too soon, I see the error of my ways.  I pray for those living with anxieties, help them be still and trust in You, all will be well.  Bless this day Father, give me insight for the challenges and courage to step out when the time comes.  In Jesus name, Amen.
