Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4b
"Then the angel said to the women in reply, "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you."" Matthew 28:5-7
Happy Easter Sunday - Give witness. The first Easter Sunday, the day death was defeated. The followers of Jesus came to the tomb to see, was Jesus there, did He rise from the dead like He said He would. "From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised." Matthew 16:21. Peter spent the last three days pondering his life with Christ, pondering his sin and listening to God's voice. This day would be different for Peter for everything that the Shepherd had said has been fulfilled, Peter has seen and believes. Jesus was not in the tomb but was going on ahead to meet them in Galilee. Peter's life was transformed that morning, the joy in his heart gives witness to the Risen Lord. "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said." Just like Peter, give witness to the Risen Christ in your life. In Peter's own words: "He commissioned us to preach to the people and testify that he is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead." Acts 10:42
What is God saying to me: Happy Easter morning My son, I Am not in the tomb of sin and death but I Am among the living that give witness to My saving grace.
Dear Father, I ponder Your actions these past forty plus days, the graces You have given, the insight that You have revealed. There is a joy burning within that gives witness to a life transformed. I thank You Father for atoning for my sin many years ago and I am beginning to understand the joy of living in peace, learning to walk by faith. There is much to be gleaned when we sit in Your presence and listen. Father, I pray for the hearts yearning for You, yearning to be at peace, You are the Holy One of Israel that comes to set them free and give life where death once resided. Thank You Jesus for bringing hope, thank You Holy Spirit for your gentle wisdom and power. And Thank You Father for repeating the story until it became real. To Jesus be the glory this fine Easter Day. Amen.
