Daily Thoughts - Distant

Daily Thoughts - Distant

"Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God. These you should have done, without overlooking the others."  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭11:42‬

In todays Gospel reading, it is easy to distance ourselves from the conversation.  Jesus is speaking to the Pharisees and rebuking them for not doing what God called them too.  But as you listen to Jesus He is speaking to us in our own callings in life.  We are all called to bring others to Christ not just the preacher.   Am I loving God if I am not helping my neighbor or not getting involved in the situations that God puts in front of me.

"But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law." ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:18‬.  Is God distant in your thoughts, only on Sunday do you listen for Him or is He there with you in all situations.  As we listen for the promptings of the Holy Spirit, He speaks and then the flesh must decide how to respond.  Was that really God's voice speaking, does He really want me to act on that thought.  The only way to find out is to act, He will amaze you as He works through you.  Or you can sit at the table with the Pharisees and be bound by your privilege and lack of love for another.   "If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit." Galatians‬ ‭5:25

Dear Father, I hear You and see You in action.  I see You transforming lives to come to know Your love for them as we are obedient to Your will.  Thank You Father for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, You know what is best for each of us.  You also know how best to purify us.  Watch over us this day and may we serve You in the callings we each have as we live out our love for You, Amen.

Mary, Mother of Peace, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
