Daily Thoughts - Holiness

Daily Thoughts - Holiness

""Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate, make an effort to settle the matter on the way; otherwise your opponent will turn you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the constable, and the constable throw you into prison. I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.""  ‭‭Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭57‬-‭59‬

There is right and wrong. Not my right but what is right in the eyes of God. (1 Kings 15:5). Jesus gives us practical advise in settling matters of disagreement, sit with them and come to the right agreement with your opponent.  I also pondered a deeper meaning of opponent.  We do live in interesting times where "I am right and you are wrong" ways of thinking.  But in the eyes of God, Truth can never change.

In this context who is our opponent?  Was Jesus not speaking truth and his audience was His opponent.   Matthew 5:6.   God is never wrong, when we stand against Him and His teachings, He is our opponent.  It is Him we must make peace with and His teachings.  There will be no avoiding it but even if you don't come to an agreement with Him there is still hope.  A place called prison that we will be released once we have paid every penny.  We will  come to understand what holiness is as we contemplate our plight in life and the teachings of God.  Leviticus 20:7.

In my Catholic understanding I call this place purgatory, by His grace I will pass through purgatory before I die because we all have to go through purgation to get to Heaven.

Dear Father, I see You at work in miraculous ways, prayers are being answered, people are being given hope, hope that surpasses all understanding.  Continue to pour our Your grace upon Your people, continue the cleansing of this world that we may all bend the knee to worship You in all that we do.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Mother of Love, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
