Daily Thoughts - Longing

"as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better." Philippians 1:20-23
Stuck in the middle knowing that God is in control beyond our own desires for if we are truthful we long to be with the Lord. This life has purpose but some days that desire is greater for one over the other. It is no man's land in my mind for no man really wants to be here but also knows one must travel through it to get to the other side as Paul has.
"For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain." It is the dying part that I struggle with as most of us do. Can I lay down my life for another in my daily walk? It is the gain in Christ that I seek that Paul seems to have found, even in the longing of being with Christ he is content. No man's land half way between every where. Yet it is Christ that is leading us through a little each day.
Dear Lord God, it is another beautiful day in Your presence. Ground us in the truth of this day, whisper the words that we need to hear to continue this earthly pilgrimage. Prayers for a friend waiting in hope for Your victory in his life, may You answer his prayers that leads to glory. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4b
