Daily Thoughts - Preparation. The Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Daily Thoughts - Preparation.  The Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

"for nothing will be impossible for God." Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her." Luke‬ ‭1‬:‭37‬-‭38‬

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the mother of Jesus conceived without sin.  Doesn't seem possible does it with what we know about faith and our human history.  I recalled Adam and Eve, God's perfect creation not having sin until His perfect creation allowed sin into the world.

Now, His perfect Son and His perfect daughter begin again to eradicate sin from us.  To think of Jesus without sin is easy but Mary not so easy.  Yet as you consider her life as a child, her love for God from such an early age and her complete fiat(yes), it makes perfect sense.

"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord."  Her response indicates her perfect understanding of what was being asked of her.  Her knowledge of the history of the Church was deep, she has spent her life dedicated to God for this singular purpose.  She was awaiting the first coming of the Messiah, (she knew our Church history) and we await His second coming.

We can learn a lot from Mary and her life whether we chose to accept her Immaculate Conception or not.   As the Angel Gabriel says:  "for nothing will be impossible for God."

Dear Father God, You prepared the perfect mother for the Perfect Son.  Through them redemption and salvation entered the world again.  May we recognize the blessed role Mary plays in salvation history and may our love for her continue to grow.  Defend us from the wicked foe through her seed and her fiat.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Mother Undefiled, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Most Chaste Spouse, Pray for us.
St Ignatius, Pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
