Daily Thoughts - The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

Daily Thoughts - The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

"When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem  to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, "Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord,"". ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭22‬-‭23‬

Words matter.  I walk with Mary as she, along with Joesph, present her son to the Lord.  I witness the scene, hear the words being said and feel the emotion of the moment.  Only to be drawn to Jesus on the cross.  I have wondered why God has painted this picture in my thoughts and I also look at my upbringing.  There is comfort in knowing that at my hour of death, Mary will be there to present her son to the Lord.

"When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, "Woman, behold, your son." Then he said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother." And from that hour the disciple took her into his home."  ‭‭John‬ ‭19‬:‭26‬-‭27‬.  Within the presentation of the Lord is the joy of life also the sacrifice at the altar.  Jesus's sacrifice and Mary's sacrifice.

As a Catholic man, who prays the rosary, the words at the end of the Hail Mary do not go unheard.  "Now and at the hour of our death, amen."   Mary presented her son at the altar just as she did in the temple.  Listen to the words you pray and hear what God is saying.  Happy feast day, there is more than what meets the eye.

Dear Father, I hear and listen, You give things to ponder for a purpose.  You speak into the heart and reveal Your love to us.  I thank You for this gift of thought that seemingly went unnoticed.  I pray for discernment of thought to recognize what is from You.  Bless this day and all the holy moments that are awaiting this traveler.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Queen of Heaven, Pray for us.
St Joesph, Servant of Christ, Pray for us.
St Ignatius, Pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
