Daily Thoughts 12-23-2017 Luke 1:64

"Immediately his mouth was opened, his tongue freed, and he spoke blessing God." ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:64‬

Why was Zechariah's unable to speak while waiting on his child?  I believe he was given time to contemplate what was going on around him.  When we speak, we aren't listening, we aren't observing what is going on.  Being quiet and paying attention opens up a new world, that is right in front of you.   Zechariah learned a lot during those nine months, he was able to see the scripture come alive around him.  When he did speak, it was nothing but joy because he knew who was coming.  He knew what his son would be doing, preparing the way.  Quiet contemplation allows you to see, be quiet, listen and see God, preparing the way.   He is coming!

Dear Heavenly Father, there is so much fluff around us we are blinded to the truth.   Help us be quiet and sit still.  Open us up to a new view so we can see You, so we can help prepare the way.   Show me what I am not doing that I need to be doing.  May I be thankful for what I am given and may I share Your blessings with others.   Bring peace to all Your children Lord, may we all see what Your faithful servant Zechariah seen and speak only blessings.  Triune God be my all.  Triune God be my all. Triune God be my all.

Mary, Virgin Most Pure, pray for us.
