"Into your hands I commend my spirit; you will redeem me, LORD, God of truth." Psalms 31:6
Did Jesus come into this world so we could live in the lap of luxury? Some would have you think that is what it is about. Yesterday we celebrated the birth of Jesus, today we celebrate the feast of St Stephen, the first martyr. Two very contrasting realities, the innocence of a child and martyrdom. "You will be hated by all because of my name," Luke 21:17. I think God is telling us to not get too comfortable. When we entrust our lives into the hands of God, everything will be ok, even in the unknown. It will not be easy but you will be well looked after. "but not a hair on your head will be destroyed." Luke 21:18
Dear Lord God, may we witness to Your saving grace as St. Stephen did. May I entrust my life into Your hands and willingly accept what comes my way. Help me contemplate the path forward Lord, show me to go either right or left. Bless this day Lord with a renewed vigor to spread Your Word. I ask this in the name of Jesus.
Mary, Queen of Saints, pray for us.
Saint Stephen, pray for us.
