Daily Thoughts 2-14-2018 Joel 2:15-16

"Blow the horn in Zion! Proclaim a fast, call an assembly! Gather the people, sanctify the congregation; Assemble the elderly; gather the children, even infants nursing at the breast;" ‭Joel‬ ‭2:15-16a‬

Today we begin our journey into the desert as it is Ash Wednesday.  Today we proclaim a fast, we gather as a Christian community and we will be blessed with the sign of our faith.  "For you are dust, and to dust you shall return." ‭Genesis‬ ‭3:19‬.  Adam was given eternity but lost it due to temptation and we must become like Jesus to enter Heaven.

"Rend your hearts, not your garments" Joel‬ ‭2:13‬a.  It is not the outer actions God will consider but it is a open heart to His love and grace that He seeks.  Decide to go into the desert, fast and make room for God this Lenten season.  There is a Joyous reward waiting for you on Easter Sunday.

Dear Father God, I love the depth of Your word especially when  it comes alive.  I ask for a special grace for those who go into the desert, open our hearts to You and Your plan.  Send Your angels to minister to us and keep us safe.  Today is a new day, help each of us see how unique and special You created us be.   May we seek You out when surrounded by the quiet.  I offer up a special prayer for a friend whom You have gifted for Your purpose, give him the insight He desires and help him see prayer being answered all around him.  I ask these things in Your most holy name, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Mary, Mother of Love, pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
