Daily Thoughts 2-23-2018 Matthew 5:20

"I tell you, unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the kingdom of heaven." ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:20‬

That is a pretty tall order considering the scribes and Pharisees continued the tradition of the Jewish faith.  In their own minds they were right and Jesus was wrong.  He wasn't following the customs, He was challenging them.   How many of us follow a tradition but don't follow its true purpose.  Jesus lived the tradition every day of His life.  He was God and the perfect Jewish man going into the world to preach the good news not the letter of the law.  I can go to church twice a week and miss the mark.   It isn't just the tradition, it is the tradition and then applying it daily as you live, in my opinion.  "Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world." Is what I live by and I trust in the Good Shepherd to lead me.

Dear Heavenly Father, I enjoy Your traditions and I pray I am putting them into practice each day You give me.  I can not measure myself by someone else's standards but only Yours that You give me to do.  I thank You for the ear to listen and the will to respond, it brings joy to my heart in keeping Your word.  Forgive me for my failures and encourage me to continue trying.  I pray for my weaknesses and more than anything, I trust in You.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Mary, Queen of Faith, pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
