"I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him." Matthew 17:16
Were the disciples relying upon their own ability to cure him? They witnessed Jesus curing others - looked easy. Jesus later tells His disciples "He said to them, "Because of your little faith. Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20. The disciples had not yet learned to walk by faith and not by sight. They hadn't learned to trust God and accept His will. They still lacked belief at this time, it wasn't until Pentecost Sunday when they accepted the Holy Spirit and they walked by faith. Do you walk by faith?
Dear Lord God, a lack of faith controls our lives, remove what ever impedes us from believing in You and Your abilities. Help us grow in faith as Your disciples did, may we remember it is a journey as we walk closer to You. You are my rock whom I stand upon, bless this day with Your blessings whether they be good or bad, it will be Your will for my life and it will be for the Glory of You. I ask this in Your Holy Name, and the Blessed Trinity, Amen.
Mary, Queen of Confessors, pray for us.
