"Since we have heard that some of our number [who went out] without any mandate from us have upset you with their teachings and disturbed your peace of mind, we have with one accord decided to choose representatives and to send them to you along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, who have dedicated their lives to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Acts 15:24-26
Is there one church or multiple churches? In the early Church you can see the beginnings of hierarchy that helped guide the church to remain under the authority of Christ. You can also see possible self interests getting in the way. Christ came to unite us with His Father and divide us from the world. Do we recognize the authority that Christ gave us in the beginning? Do we work at uniting the church or dividing the church. As Christians we are to separate ourselves from the world and be united to the authority that He gave us, one Holy Apostolic Church. "Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful." Colossians 3:14-15
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the wisdom of the ages to guide Your Church. I thank You for the deliberate pace at which You work. Help me be obedient to the teachings of the Church and operate within the Body of Christ. Thank You Lord for the opportunity to be still and reflect upon You and Your ways. Bless this day Lord and keep us under the guidance of Your Holy Spirit. I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
Mary, Mother of Love, pray for us.
