www.dailythoughts.com Mark 10:17, 21-22. 05-28-2018

"As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up, knelt down before him, and asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said to him, "You are lacking in one thing. Go, sell what you have, and give to [the] poor and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." At that statement his face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions." Mark‬ ‭10:17, 21-22‬

Jesus didn't mince words did He, He went straight to the core.  The man wanted the answer to the most important question in each of our lives, what must I do to inherit eternal life.  Salvation is a free gift, why didn't Jesus tell the man he believed and he was already saved?  Jesus knew what held him back, he loved something more than God.  "Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with your whole heart, and with your whole being, and with your whole strength."  Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:5‬.  If you asked Jesus the same question what do you think His answer would be?   Salvation is free but with it comes responsibility no different than the freedom we enjoy today.

Dear Heavenly Father, I am blessed to be living in this wonderful country that enjoys freedom like no other.  We are given the opportunity to enjoy Heaven on earth, May I live this way daily always placing You at the center.  I pray for those men who died so I may taste freedom, may I not take their efforts in vain and waste the responsibility that has been given to me.  I thank You for this day and I ask that You bless and protect those fighting for our country.  In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Happy Memorial Day!  And thank you to all the veterans on fought for each of us.

Mary, Queen of Victory, pray for us.

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4b
