"I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh. For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want." Galatians 5:16-17
"Sanctify yourselves, then, and be holy; for I, the LORD, your God, am holy." Leviticus 20:7 We are called by God to be holy, this takes conscious effort on our part. The flesh works against the Spirit in trying to separate us from His sanctifying grace. We on the other hand are to work on following the Spirit. We can not do this by ourselves, only thru Christ Jesus can we truly be free from the desires of the flesh. It was Him that died on the cross for these desires and it was Him who gave us an Advocate to help us to be sanctified. Receive His Holy Spirit and become the Saint you are called by God to be.
Dear Holy Spirit, come fill me with Your presence, remove the desires that are opposed to You and increase within the desire to know You and love You more. Lord, You know what I need and it is You that I place my care into Your hands, I in turn will give of myself to You. Bless this day Lord God and thank You for giving us Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.
