Exodus 1 8-31-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"And because the midwives feared God, God built up families for them. Pharaoh then commanded all his people, "Throw into the Nile every boy that is born, but you may let all the girls live."" Exodus‬ ‭1:21-22‬

Can you stand against God?  Pharaoh tried but as he peered out upon his perceived kingdom, he seen the strength of the Israelites, he feared the people.   "Come, let us deal shrewdly with them to stop their increase; otherwise, in time of war they too may join our enemies to fight against us, and so leave the land."" ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭1:10‬

The midwives feared God, a healthy fear, for they witness the joy of new life.  They seen God breath life into His people, even though life was tuff, they appreciated what they had for it was God given.  The Egyptians on the other hand, had it easy, being taken care of, they believed the lie of their surroundings.  "The midwives answered Pharaoh, "The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women. They are robust and give birth before the midwife arrives."" ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭1:19

God honors those who honor Him, He increases those who fear Him.  The increase may come as a hardship but He is working out His salvation plan still in this day.  Live your faith, honor God and accept your circumstances.  In due time.

‬What is God saying to me: Witness to My faithfulness, do not fear men, I am God who breathes life into Your spirit.

Dear Lord God, I see the greatness of all around me and You speak to me in the stillness.  You created all that I see, without You none of it would exist.  May I honor
Your creation by being faithful to Your mission.  May I set aside my fears and trust You in all that I do and am.  Prayers for a friend going thru challenges, may she see that God is using them to build her up.  Thank You for this day, Thank You for the joy of hearing life in the cry of a child, may we all value life as You value each of us at an intimate level.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 50 8-30-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"Then, putting the sons of Israel under oath, he continued, "When God thus takes care of you, you must bring my bones up from this place."" Genesis‬ ‭50:25‬

Joesph gives the direction for the future, not knowing it would take quite sometime.  He was deliberate in his relationship with God, he recognized that whatever the outcome that God was in charge.  He served his life as a slave to Pharaoh but under the tutelage of God.  He was well taken care of and through his faithfulness to God so was his family.  We are all dealt a deck of cards, the one constant is God, be deliberate in your prayer life with Him.  Listen to Him and be guided be the Triune God, it will not always be perfect but it will always be fruitful, for God will be in charge.  Have a blessed day and weekend, be safe and Thank God for the life that you have.  Tomorrow, I will continue into Exodus, the story continues.

What is God saying to me: it is a great journey when You focus on Me.

Dear Father, it is an amazing story when we listen to You, I am overwhelmed by the circumstances of situations with the understanding that You are there.   Thank You Father for this joy, May others understand the import of a deliberate prayer life and the fruit that is bears in our daily lives.  Prayers for this day, prayers for those wandering in the desert.  You have given us freedom if we listen to You.  Be in me this day and everyday until you carry my bones home for You are greater than anything that we will face.  Amen.

My reflection upon the book of Genesis: As I read each day, I began to see the faithfulness of God in His relationship with us.  I seen how we would allow our passions, our lack of faith, our sinfulness interfere with our relationship with God, but God was constant.  Even in the chaos God continues to brings us back into unity with Him.  It is our daily prayer life and seeing the scripture come to life in our own life that makes it real.  I am personally looking forward to Exodus because God is giving us a new perspective into our journey in the story of salvation.  There is s reason the call it the living Word of God.

Genesis Chapter 49 8-29-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said about them, as he blessed them. To each he gave a suitable blessing." Genesis‬ ‭49:28‬

There is a sweetness in knowing the foundation of the church.  God built the Jewish faith upon these twelve tribes of Israel, just like the twelve disciples.  A band of brothers that we're imperfect to reflect the perfect nature of God.  We will not know God until we walk in God's footsteps.  In scriptures is the history of God's footsteps, it is a beautiful story.  Are we willing to grab the hand of God and walk with Him?  Will we ponder His word a little each day and allow the Holy Spirit to mentor our path.  He will take you places you could never of imagined and you make the decision every single day.

What is God saying to me: You see what I see, my other self, take up thy cross and follow me.  It is not a forced journey but one you must choose.  Your strength is Me and not self, be humble along the path.

Dear Father, I see a world choosing You and needing Your strength to face the battles of everyday living.  Some have accepted Your hand, others don't even know You are reaching out and have yet to believe.  Still others need the strength of Your Son Jesus on the journey.  I know it is these that You are carrying.  Help each of us see, Your other self and help carry the cross.  Prayers of thanksgiving for little Leona, continue to strengthen this child's heart, lift up her family in your loving embrace.  You are a great witness through others who are feeling the weight of Your cross, bless them Father with the joy that is coming.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 48 8-28-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"When Joseph saw that his father had laid his right hand on Ephraim's head, this seemed wrong to him; so he took hold of his father's hand, to remove it from Ephraim's head to Manasseh's, saying, "That is not right, father; the other one is the firstborn; lay your right hand on his head!" But his father refused. "I know it, son," he said, "I know. That one too shall become a people, and he too shall be great. Nevertheless, his younger brother shall surpass him, and his descendants shall become a multitude of nations."" Genesis‬ ‭48:17-19‬

History repeats itself, Joesph was not the first born yet was blessed by Isaac. Now his own two sons would be switched.  In God's salvation history for us there isn't this perfect plan that plays out and things always go as planned.  In the book of Genesis, it is a messy beginning but thru it all, you can see the Mercy of God at work.  In our own lives, there are missteps, setbacks, highs and lows yet God continues to work it out.  His blessings are there for each of us to receive.  There isn't a perfect plan that we can implement other than trusting in the divine will of God.  He points northward and we are to follow, life isn't perfect but the outcome, with God, is always perfect.  Trust Him and not self.

What is God saying to me: You got there, there isn't a set pattern.  Trust in my mercy for by yourself, you are lost.

Dear Father, the imperfect plan is always perfect, only You know our way forward.  We concern ourselves with the way things should be and not with the way things are.  The outcome is yours and we are to accept them for You always know what is best.  You are a good, good Father, thank You for this day.  Prayers for Leona this morning, having heart surgery at a tender age.  May the healing hands of God work through the medical staff.  May the family rest in the hands of God and be at peace.   Keep the Canada family in your prayers, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 47 8-27-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"As for the people, he removed them to the cities from one end of Egypt's border to the other." Genesis‬ ‭47:21‬

There is quite a contrast between the Egyptians and Joesph's family.  The Egyptians place themselves into servitude to Pharaoh, a godless society.  They sell all that they have and are at the mercy of the government.  They do not know God.   On the other hand, the Israelites are given land and are given food.  They are blessed by God.  "Now Israel lived in the land of Egypt, in Goshen, and they acquired property in it and were fruitful and became very numerous."  ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭47:27‬.  Is not the same thing happening today?  Cities are becoming bigger and bigger, high rises are going up and the people are looking to the government to provide for them.  A life without God will lead to servitude.  A life with God even in the middle of famine will be blessed and leads to eternal freedom.

What is God saying to me:

Dear Lord God, it is s joy to know You and to perceive Your promptings.  You open doors for us to bring the Good news to others if we are living in Your presence.  I thank You Lord for I see you in action in this world.  I also see a world seeking to put us into servitude and we don't even realize it.  Awaken us to a deeper relationship with You in our daily lives, to ponder You in the midst of everything going on around us.  I thank You for these past few days and for the growth it has presented.   Bless this day and may we always be ready to give reason for our joy. Amen.

Genesis Chapter 46 8-26-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"Israel set out with all that was his. When he arrived at Beer-sheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. There God, speaking to Israel in a vision by night, called: Jacob! Jacob! He answered, "Here I am." Then he said: I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you a great nation. I will go down to Egypt with you and I will also bring you back here, after Joseph has closed your eyes." ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭46:1-4‬

Israel sets out on a journey leaving his home land to live in Egypt to become a great nation, before he leaves, he goes to mass at the altar built by Isaac, his father.  God tells Isaac: "The LORD appeared to him the same night and said, "I am the God of your father Abraham; Do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you, and multiply your descendants, For the sake of My servant Abraham."" ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭26:24‬.  How many of us take God with us when we go on a journey?  Do we begin our week with God at mass?  Our Fathers did, why not us.  Things may move way faster during this time but the story is pretty much the same, take God with you and He will insure you return home.  Eternity starts on this side of the dirt, not the other side, live your faith.

What is God saying to me: I go with you, the words are written on your heart and in your actions.  Live My life within you.

Dear Father, I thank You for speaking to me through the priest yesterday.  You are always out in front when we place You first in our lives.  There is a peace in knowing that You are with us.  Thank You Father for watching over our family as I travel.  Thank You for healing hearts that are grieving, You have a mighty plan that is in motion.  Prayers for a family who lost a child in a four wheeler accident, You never fail us even when things seam bleak.  Bless this day and may You shine through us as we go into the world.  Amen.

Genesis Chapter 45 8-25-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"God, therefore, sent me on ahead of you to ensure for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives in an extraordinary deliverance." Genesis‬ ‭45:7‬

Are we not all on a journey for God, He has sent you on a mission as well to find Him.  Joesph was dead to his brothers, he was dead to his father, now he is alive.  Joesph has come to life and will save his family.  Jesus comes to save His family as well, there are times that we do not act that Jesus is alive yet there He is for an extraordinary deliverance.  The paths that we each take are not all the same but through them God works His miracles so we can be reunited with His family.  He protects you along the journey, He insures you have enough for the journey and He also allows life's events to form each of us.  Today give Thanks for being blessed by God, His ways are always best.

What is God saying to me: Do not be afraid, I go before you preparing the way.

Dear Father, I see the path that we have taken in the past, You reunited me with Your Holy Family, I see the path forward and You know I am a little unsure but I am willing.  I thank You for these moments of solitude to listen to Your voice, It clarifies our mission and gives strength to my steps. Prayers for the ladies coming off of retreat, today is a new day with lots of hope for tomorrow, help them see the power of daily prayer and quiet solitude in Your presence.  I look forward to this week Father, You have already prepared it for me and I am willing, let's go and see where You are leading.  In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 44 8-24-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"How could I go back to my father if the boy were not with me? I could not bear to see the anguish that would overcome my father."" ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭44:34‬

The plea of Judah.  Judah has experienced this anguish when Joesph did not return home.  Judah saved Joesph by convincing his brothers from killing him, now he is pleading with Joesph to save his father from more grief.  "Judah said to his brothers: "What is to be gained by killing our brother and concealing his blood? Come, let us sell him to these Ishmaelites, instead of doing away with him ourselves. After all, he is our brother, our own flesh." His brothers agreed."  Genesis‬ ‭37:26-27‬.  Life is a great teacher as we experience different events we realize the consequences of our actions.  The painful ones we do not want to repeat and we learn from our mistakes and the ones that bring joy to others we repeat.  Joesph as well learns from the experience of Judah, he feels his passionate plea for Judah is speaking with experience and compassion.  We can not give what we do not have, one of the reasons we face trials in our lives.  God is a great teacher, remember it is not punishment but discipline.

What is God saying to me: Life is a gift, even those periods that seem to bring pain, there is a joy when you can glean what is truly important.  There is a reason it is called the valley of tears.

Dear Father, it is good that we are here, for me to enjoy this time together.  I love the lessons that are written in your word for us to glean from.  There is so much more that meets the eye, continue to teach me the wisdom and life lessons that I need to learn.  Thank You Father for Your Blessings that You pour upon us each day of our lives.  I enjoy the peacefulness of the stillness when we are sitting together, it gives me time to think.  Bless this day Lord and bless our efforts, in Jesus name, Amen.  Special prayer for all the priests and religious who devote themselves to Your flock.  Amen.

Genesis Chapter 43 8-23-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"But Judah replied: "The man strictly warned us, 'You shall not see me unless your brother is with you.' If you are willing to let our brother go with us, we will go down to buy food for you. But if you are not willing, we will not go down, because the man told us, 'You shall not see me unless your brother is with you.'" Israel demanded, "Why did you bring this trouble on me by telling the man that you had another brother?""
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭43:3-6‬

Jacob is being asked by God to make a difficult decision one he does not like.   Jacob is fearful of what might happen and has done everything to protect the last rightful aire as far as he knows.  Abraham had to make this decision, Our Father in Heaven had to make this decision, what about you?   "saying, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done." Luke‬ ‭22:42‬. Jacob makes the decision and gives up his son not knowing the outcome.  Following the will of God is not always easy for He asks us to choose, Him or self.  The right choice is Him, be willing to lay down self and place yourself into the Father's hands.  He knows what is best.

What is God saying to me: Listen to My heart, it beats for You, to see life and to see it abundantly.

Dear Father, the choices I will have to make are not as dramatic as this but they will impact my future.  May I always place You first when making those decisions.  Help us see how following Your will, though seeming a painful choice is always the best choice.  Prayers for healing this weekend for a group or ladies on retreat.  Watch over Your children Lord and help us become like little children with awe and wonderment in our Spirit.  Bless this day and may we take You with us everywhere we go, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 42 - cleansing of our past.

"When you bring me your youngest brother, and I know that you are not spies but honest men, I will restore your brother to you, and you may move about freely in the land.'"" Genesis‬ ‭42:34‬

Joesph is making honest men out of his brothers.   Which brother was Joesph going to restore to his Brothers?  Was it Simeon or was it himself.  Joesph knew his father and knew how much he loved his sons and how he would have protected the rightful aire.  Joesph was helping his brothers deal with their sin from the past.  It was now being brought to the forefront of their minds in a very deliberate way.  They had suppressed what had happened and moved on with lives, trying to forget this chapter from their past, but this was their day of reckoning.  Joesph knew how to make them sweat it out.  Our past at times comes back and God reminds us that it must be dealt with, it must be cleaned up.  We do not realize how these situations effect us in the future and impact our spirits in ways we do not realize.  God forgives and He wants us to forgive ourselves, to restore our soul to its rightful place with Him.

Why did Joesph not return to his family when he was second in charge?  Here I am Lord, I come to do Your will.  An obedient servant - listen to what God is asking of you.

What is God saying to me:  Be patient and allow Me to work.

Dear Father, I love the memories You bring up from my past, it is like I am standing in that spot recalling feelings and emotions of that time.  I thank You for how You helped me deal with that time and how today You are showing how things will be in the future, I look forward to that day and with Your help will see it come to reality.  Prayers for a friend, may good memories flood his spirit, bring a smile to his face from a time in the past and help him see how You are moving within his family during these difficult times. You will restore each of us and will not stop until we get the picture of what life can really be like with You at the center.  Bless this day Father and here I am, I come to do Your will.  Amen.

Genesis Chapter 41 8-21-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"So when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried out to Pharaoh for bread; and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, "Go to Joseph; whatever he says to you, you shall do."" Genesis 41:55

Joesph goes from being a prisoner to the second in charge of all Egypt, all because he was obedient to God in all of his situations.  This didn't happen overnight, it happened over many years.  No Good news without the cross.   "He replied, 'Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter; take charge of ten cities.'"
‭‭Luke‬ ‭19:17‬  Joesph had choices along the way on how he could respond.  He took each day one at a time being faithful to God no matter the circumstances, now he is over many cities.  You have the same choices and God will be faithful to His word.   Live your faith.

What is God saying to me: One day at a time, tomorrow will take care of itself.

Dear Lord God, it is the little things in our lives that You give us charge of, may we be faithful to You in our response.  Thank You for breathing life into Your word and making them real to me.  I love You Father and will do what You ask.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 40 8-20-2019 www.Dailythoughts.com

"They answered him, "We have had dreams, but there is no one to interpret them." Joseph said to them, "Do interpretations not come from God? Please tell me the dreams."" Genesis‬ ‭40:8‬

Life or death.  Joesph is given the gift of interpreting dreams from God.  He listens to the voice of God and follows His direction.  Joesph has to pass along good news to the Chief cupbearer and bad news to the Chief baker.  The Chief baker will die in three days, and Joesph has to suffer with this knowledge and I am sure wondered what the purpose was in this.  I pondered this chapter today trying to grasp what message God has in it.   He is the wine of new life and He is the bread of life.   There is no good news without the cross.  When striving for God, there will be ups and downs, there will be growth and seeming nothingness, there will be joy and there will be suffering.  Ponder His word all the days of your life.

What is God saying to me: I see beyond today, I ask that you trust Me with the circumstances of everyday life, even the challenges.

Dear Father, You see all, I only see now and what I hope for.  I wonder what Your message is in all of it and how I am to respond.  I do trust in You, some days I am the cupbearer and others I am the baker.  In all of it, I accept the outcome for You are on the inside leading our paths.  May we choose wisely the way forward, may we not delay in heeding Your direction.  In all of these circumstances, You are bringing together Your salvation plan for our redemption, I thank You for that.  Prayers for the lost and the unknown, prayers for those dealing with the suffering of truth, may they see beyond the here and now and see You at work.   I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 39 8-19-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"From the moment that he put him in charge of his household and all his possessions, the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; the LORD's blessing was on everything he owned, both inside the house and out." Genesis‬ ‭39:5‬

Walking in the favor of the Lord.  The Lords blessings are upon Joesph and he does not lose that favor.  Sin presents itself yet he keeps pressing forward not allowing the distractions get in the way of doing what God had given him.  Even wrongly accused, thrown in jail, he does not dwell on his fate, he looks for the blessings for he has done nothing wrong.  Sin in our lives with holds God's blessings because we are blinded to them.  We are all blessed by God, we all walk in His favor but we allow sin to interfere.  Cleanse the soul, begin again and always look for the blessings, they are there.  Bring God's blessings with you into your day, impact the world around you, a simple little step that He asks each of us each day.

What is God saying to me:  You see the blessings, simple little steps and life is new again for yourself and others.

Dear Lord, I see You at work through the simplest of things.  Your blessings are all around us, blessings of friends, blessings of hope, blessings of a roof over our heads.  When life wants to interfere may we slow down and see Your favor that rests upon each of us. May we not look back but press on towards the prize.  Thank You Father for another day to give and receive Your blessings into our lives.  You are Mighty God, You are Holy God, You are MY God.  Amen.

Genesis Chapter 38 8-18-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"About three months later, Judah was told, "Your daughter-in-law Tamar has acted like a harlot and now she is pregnant from her harlotry." Judah said, "Bring her out; let her be burned." But as she was being brought out, she sent word to her father-in-law, "It is by the man to whom these things belong that I am pregnant." Then she said, "See whose seal and cord and staff these are."" Genesis‬ ‭38:24-25‬

The choices we make.  Judah is careful to follow the letter of the law by doing most of what it says but not all.  His first sons passes and his daughter-in-law, Tamar, is left widowed with no children.  "Then Judah said to Onan, "Have intercourse with your brother's wife, in fulfillment of your duty as brother-in-law, and thus preserve your brother's line."" ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭38:8‬.  Onan passes away, Judah wants to do the right thing, his youngest son is too young to fulfill this role so Judah sends Tamar away for when the time is right.  Judah makes a poor choice and he becomes the one to fulfill his sons lineage.  How many of us follow most of what God says but not all.  What we do when no one is around still does not go unnoticed.  Being faithful to God's teachings isn't part time, it is full time. The choices we make do make a difference in our lives.  Live your faith all the time even when no one is around.  God sees all.

What is God saying to me: Be faithful to all my teachings.

Dear Father God, I see you hanging on the cross for my sins, I thank You for rescuing me and allowing me to see.  I thank You for instilling Your Spirit within my actions, for being super sensitive to Your promptings.  I see the times I messed up and how You forgave me.  I never want to offend You ever again, I ask for Your help in being always in front of me.  May I be engaged totally in our relationship all the time.  Prayers for this day, bless us Father with Your body and blood when we place ourselves at Your altar.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 37 8-17-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"Midianite traders passed by, and they pulled Joseph up out of the cistern. They sold Joseph for twenty pieces of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt." Genesis‬ ‭37:28‬

The story begins, the innocence of a child, hated with contempt, discarded and thrown into a well, sold for twenty pieces of silver.  Sound familiar?  How is this being played out today in our world?  We have the stories of the Bible some of which are still playing out and each of us has a part.  Hatred and contempt leads to the destruction of self.  These stories in the book of Genesis are our stories, they are our own lives in a sense, intrigue, deception, guilt, pride, lust, sin.  Salvation and peace is found in worshiping God and heeding His voice.  His truth always prevails even when we try to ignore truth.  Are you afraid of the decision God is asking you to make.  Truth is truth and He will not stop until you accept His truth.

What is God saying to me:  A prophetic message can not be ignored, it will play out.  The pain goes away when we accept it, this is the end of the story.

Dear Father, why do we ignore the truth, I see the pain that it causes.  I see how it nags at us but some would rather ignore what it is that You are saying.  I love Your stories, they are real life and are playing out right in front of us.  I do look forward to the final outcome and truth prevails.  Open our eyes and hearts to the truth of Your word.  Help us see how we are with You and how we are working against You, causing ourselves pain.  Thank You Father for awaking Your Spirit within me, I love the journey. Amen.

Genesis Chapter 36 8-16-2019 www.dailythoughts1

"Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock, all his cattle, and all the property he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and went to the land of Seir, away from his brother Jacob. Their possessions had become too great for them to dwell together, and the land in which they were residing could not support them because of their livestock. So Esau settled in the highlands of Seir. (Esau is Edom.)" Genesis‬ ‭36:6-8‬

Genesis Chapter 36 - the nation of Esau. Jacob left the land of his father to find a wife. His brother Esau received all of his father's possessions except the land. This is the birthright that God gave Jacob. Upon Jacobs return Esau leaves his homeland. These two fought in the womb, Esau married a foreigner while Jacob married from his own. Jacob did as his father wished, he was a wise man, Esau plowed his own trail, gained lots of things but did he really possess what is truly important? What is truly important in your life, possessions add up to nothing in the end. Birth right means eternity unless we set it aside. Glorify God with your life, this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad.

What is God saying to me: Time is passing quickly. Choices matter not only for you but the next generations.

Dear Father, Your Love is growing within me, I thank You for this grace. I thank You for Your Holy Family and our family tree. I see the importance of things in the past and how they shape our future. Thank You for the tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation, this is my birth right. The possessions are yours, they will not go with me, my history and the stories written on my soul will go with me. Continue holding the pen and I will be obedient. Bless this day and all it has to offer. Triune God be my all, Triune God be my all, Triune God be my all.

Genesis Chapter 35 8-15-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"Then God said to him: I am God Almighty; be fruitful and multiply. A nation, indeed an assembly of nations, will stem from you, and kings will issue from your loins. The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I will give to you; and to your descendants after you I will give the land." Genesis‬ ‭35:11-12‬

Jacob leads his family that was given him by God.  "So Jacob told his household and all who were with him: "Get rid of the foreign gods among you; then purify yourselves and change your clothes." ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭35:2‬.  We are all called by God to listen and obey, He is our Father.  Jacob did and was blessed, everywhere he went God was with him.  Was his family perfect, obviously not, but he lead by example.  Jacob did not give up his birth right that was given him and passed on by God.  What about you, do you listen and follow?  You have the same birth right as Jacob, the glory awaits you as long as you heed His voice.

What is God saying to me: I am with you in the joys and in the pains.  My blessed Mother experienced great joy and great pain, she knows.

Dear Father, we are blessed with great examples of what a Father should be like.  I thank You for their examples.  May I live up to that example, may I be bold in my convictions and may it always be received in the tone it was sent, Love.  Thank You for giving us Your Holy family to be the perfect example.  Prayers for this day, prayers for no complications and prayers for all the fathers out there, may they lead as Jacob did.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 34 8-14-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"When Shechem, son of Hamor the Hivite, the leader of the region, saw her, he seized her and lay with her by force.

On the third day, while they were still in pain, two of Jacob's sons, Simeon and Levi, brothers of Dinah, each took his sword, advanced against the unsuspecting city and massacred all the males."  Genesis‬ ‭34:2, 25‬

Passions.  Chapter 34 does not mention God, it speaks about passions and how we let our passions control our actions.  Jacobs daughter is raped by Shechem.  Any father would easily want to deal with this as did Jacob.  But Jacob didn't jump to what his human passions wanted to do, he refrained from acting right away.   We should not react when our emotions have the better of us.   Jacobs sons allowed their passions to get the better of them, they did not consult their father, they just acted.  Once again, we can understand their anger but what will the outcome of these passions be?  A life without God allows our passions to get the better of us.  Quiet time in prayer each day gives us control of our passions, we realize we need God and He gives us graces in our prayer life, our challenge is giving Him the time.  Put your passions under control and sit in prayer every day.

What is God saying to me: Listen to my voice and be at peace through out the day.  Your passions do not have control over you except one, we are working on that one.

Dear Lord God, our decisions and reactions have consequences to them that we fail to see but will realize in the future.  Give us the grace to sit still and listen, give us the grace to pray each day at least 15 minutes with the guidance of Your Holy Spirit.  Thank You Father for helping us slow down during times of duress, to consult You with the path forward and to make decisions together when we are at peace in Your presence.  Prayers for those under the control of their human weaknesses, may their prayer life flourish and their passions be under control.  I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

Genesis Chapter 33 8-13-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"He set up an altar there and invoked "El, the God of Israel."" ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭33:20‬

Jacob left his home land with nothing, now he has returned home with an abundance.  His faith has been tested, his belief has been strengthened, his trust is in God, he is a wise man.  How many of us leave home to venture into the world with nothing, many years later you are much like Jacob.  Returning home has a feeling all of its own, I can't describe it but I believe you know what I am saying.  Jacob's treasure wasn't in the possessions that he gained but upon the Lord Almighty.  He has learned the faith of his father and is passing this along to the next generation.  Our relationship with God centers around the Altar, here we worship Him, we bring our sacrifices to Him and He transforms them into blessings.  Go to the altar.

What is God saying to me: I rejoice in seeing You seating there looking up at Me.  Within you I am building endurance, enjoy the day it will be busy.

Dear Father, there is a super natural peace developing within, even in the chaos there is peace.  I thank You for building my character to with stand various situations.  I thank You that through Your word there are examples of others who have lived through many things and were made stronger.  I pray this morning for a family who lost a son, my heart goes out to them.  Help them focus on You, Father, You know what they need.  A son has returned home by Your grace.  Prayers for those who are lost, may we assist in pointing the way home.  I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 32 8-12-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"The man then said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob said, "I will not let you go until you bless me." "What is your name?" the man asked. He answered, "Jacob." Then the man said, "You shall no longer be named Jacob, but Israel, because you have contended with divine and human beings and have prevailed."" Genesis‬ ‭32:27-29‬

Do we allow God to become deep rooted within us?  Jacob did and sees his unworthiness compared to the divine nature of God.   "I am unworthy of all the acts of kindness and faithfulness that you have performed for your servant: although I crossed the Jordan here with nothing but my staff, I have now grown into two camps." ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭32:11‬.  Do we not also wrestle with the same and yet we continue to give God a place within to prepare us.  We prevail as we allow God to purify us from within, the wrestling is us not wanting to let go of what holds us back from a deeper relationship.  Jacob realized his weakness, brought his family into the promised land and realized he was not trusting God totally.  Each day we wrestle and will continue to do so until we are transformed into His likeness.

What is God saying to me: We have more wrestling to do.

Dear Father, we did wrestle this morning and You prevailed.  I thank You for prevailing over my humanity and insuring that we have time together before the daybreak.  I thank You for the coming week and all that it has to hold.  May I give as much as you give, may I see the beauty in all, may I strive to do my best.  Prayers for a friend and family dealing with grief over the passing of their son and brother.  Comfort them Lord with Your grace, help them deal with the pain by seeing the beauty of a new day dawning for the one they love.  Help each of us prevail in our relationship with You, the Victory is achieved at the end of the race with Your arms stretched wide open.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 31 8-11-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"In the dream God's angel said to me, 'Jacob!' and I replied, 'Here I am!' Then he said: 'Look up and see. All the he-goats that are mating are streaked, speckled and mottled, for I have seen all the things that Laban has been doing to you. I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a sacred pillar and made a vow to me. Get up now! Leave this land and return to the land of your birth.'"

He then offered a sacrifice on the mountain and invited his kinsmen to share in the meal. When they had eaten, they passed the night on the mountain." Genesis‬ ‭31:11-13, 54‬

God speaks thru an angel, how many of us our God's angels?  Jacob is returning home to the land of his father along with his family.  He has toiled for many years and God has kept watch on him.  We as well leave the land of our fathers, being watched over by God, fond memories of years gone by.  Does truth reach out and ask us to return to the land of our birth.   Jacob has not forgotten what he was taught, he has gained lots of knowledge on his journey.  He entered this land with a mass and now he is leaving this land with a mass.  There is a joy in knowing God is calling out, to reach those in a foreign land, it is time to go home.  Jacob says, "Here I am" and responds.

What is God saying to me: You follow what I ask of you, not really knowing.  I Am at work in your soul and the souls of others.  Come home.

Dear Father, I love You, I love when You wake me up with the desire to sit at Your feet.  There is no better feeling than being in Your presence, help me stay here all day as we go about doing what we do.  I pray for the lost this morning Father, those that have been away for a long time, have been mistreated and cheated out of a right relationship with You.  Speak loud and clear to the hearts that have been prepared to be transformed by Your sacrifice that we get to partake in.  Bless this day and may we sing Your praises everywhere we go.  Amen.

Re: Genesis Chapter 30, 8-10-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

The reflection

"In the future, whenever you check on my wages, my honesty will testify for me: any animal that is not speckled or spotted among the goats, or dark among the lambs, got into my possession by theft!" Laban said, "Very well. Let it be as you say." That same day Laban removed the streaked and spotted he-goats and all the speckled and spotted she-goats, all those with some white on them, as well as every dark lamb, and he put them in the care of his sons." Genesis‬ ‭30:33-35‬

Laban was a very crafty individual, his schemes came back against him.  By being deceitful with Jacob, Jacob was blessed by many children through Rachel and Leah.  Laban didn't honor his word.  And now in his dealings with Jacob, he once again makes a commitment he has no intention of fulfilling.  Jacob on the other hand is being completely true to his word.  He is doing exactly what he says he will do.  God see all in our lives, our trickery does not go unnoticed and as we read in scripture, those that were not honest came out without the intended result.  We are dealt bad deals from time to time, as long as we are true to our word and deal with others honestly, our Father in Heaven can do nothing but bless.  Just like He did with Jacob and how the devil interfered with God's blessings in Laban's life.

What is God saying to me: I see all, nothing goes unnoticed.  "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse." ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭12:3‬A. Walk in My Light

Dear Heavenly Father, we are blessed by You when we walk in Your favor and do Your will, even when we are wronged, You will not let harm befall us.  In our dealings Lord, may I always be honest, my I always deal with others straight forward.  I know You see all and I will be a blessing in Your Kingdom through Your grace.  Prayers for a friend that is struggling with a decision may he realize God see's all, nothing goes unnoticed.  Prayers for another who is caught in the schemes of the devil, not seeing the damage.  Bring hope to the hopeless and joy to the joyless, I ask this in Your most holy name, Jesus.  Amen.

Genesis Chapter 29, 8-9-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"Once more she conceived and bore a son, and she said, "This time I will give thanks to the LORD "; therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing children." Genesis‬ ‭29:35‬

Jacob was to choose a wife from his mothers family and he choose Rachel.  But on his wedding night Laban deceived him and gave him Leah, not his daughter Rachel.   Jacob fought for Rachel and also married her that week.  These people are part of Jesus's family for out of Judah comes Joesph, the husband of Mary.  God choose Leah's lineage to be part of His family roots.  All those lists of names carry meaning in the Bible, as you read these stories deliberately, the picture gets drawn.  In Jesus's background there is deception in the family tree, God makes crooked paths straight.  We do not have to have a perfect upbringing to be chosen by God.   Give thanks for God Loves a sinner like me and you.

What is God saying to me:  Walk

Dear Father, what a blessing when we have to dig for the understanding that You want to give in Your word.  Your path for each of us is deliberate and You are making crooked lines straight.  You are always faithful to us and there is blessings awaiting us when we are deliberate in our prayer life, even when nothing seems to be there.  Prayers for this morning's men's group, prayers for the upcoming men's conference, may the Holy Spirit continue to guide each of us on our journeys.  Blessings upon those doing Your will may they not concern themselves with the outcome, that is Yours.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 28 8-8-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"Jacob then made this vow: "If God will be with me and protect me on this journey I am making and give me food to eat and clothes to wear, and I come back safely to my father's house, the LORD will be my God. This stone that I have set up as a sacred pillar will be the house of God. Of everything you give me, I will return a tenth part to you without fail."" Genesis‬ ‭28:20-22‬

The rock of our salvation, I recall a vow I made thirty two plus years ago to the love of my life.  God set us on a journey and with the grace of God we are blessed.  He may not have been always front and center in our lives but He was always there.  Marriage is a vow that we take for life not just when times are good.  All too often we fall victim to the schemes of the devil and we forget the rock that we placed our vow upon.  Marriage is a sacred pillar, family is a sacred pillar and essential to society.  Put God at the center of your life, lay your head upon the rock of God.  He knows the journey is not easy but it is He you will give you the food you need.  It is He who we are to clothe ourselves with.  Make the Lord your God.  The culture we live in is speaking the opposite.  Pray for the family today, pray for marriages, pray for those striving for unity in their relationships.

P.S.  Do not forget His tenth, He is serious about all His word not just the parts that we choose.

What is God saying to me: I am the Rock, there is nothing I can not solve.  Live in the peace of My Son Jesus.

Dear Father, I pray for marriages that do not have You as the center, I pray for those who have wandered off.  I thank You for responding to whom ever is asking and seeking.  Father, You are amazing and Your miraculous power is available to each of us if we would but seek You out.  May we all call upon You, the Rock, every single morning as we awake.  Help us see that a life built upon You leads to our salvation and an amazing journey that never grows old.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 27 8-7-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"Then he said, "Is he not rightly named Jacob, for he has supplanted me these two times? He took away my birthright, and behold, now he has taken away my blessing." And he said, "Have you not reserved a blessing for me?" But Isaac replied to Esau, "Behold, I have made him your master, and all his relatives I have given to him as servants; and with grain and new wine I have sustained him. Now as for you then, what can I do, my son?"" Genesis‬ ‭27:36-37‬

Can you imagine Esau's despair, his brother Jacob has received his blessing and taken his rightful place.  Esau has forgotten what he himself gave away.  Our own words have power: "So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; It shall not return to me empty, but shall do what pleases me, achieving the end for which I sent it." ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:11‬.  Listen to yourself, do we with our own words take away God's blessings?

What is God saying to me: Today is a new day, what will you do with it?  I gave you free will to have dominion over your life, use your words carefully for they will not come back empty.

Dear Father, You are so good to me, always insuring there is enough time to accomplish what You have asked.  I thank You for preparing this day, may I be as refreshed this evening as I am right now.  May I guard my tongue and only allow blessings to pass my lips.  Thank You for Your protection this day over all our endeavors.  Thank You for radiating Your love upon us may we share it with all we meet.  Prayers for a friend may he be guided by the Holy Spirit as he goes forward.  Prayers for another to shine the light of Christ in their day.  Bless this day and the adventures we get to experience.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 26 8-6-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"They answered: "We clearly see that the LORD has been with you, so we thought: let there be a sworn agreement between our two sides—between you and us. Let us make a covenant with you: you shall do no harm to us, just as we have not maltreated you, but have always acted kindly toward you and have let you depart in peace. So now, may you be blessed by the LORD!""  ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭26:28-29‬

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, this chapter is much like another during the time of Abraham.  What Isaac learned was passed onto to him by his father.  He had learned to listen and obey God.  Allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us at times is difficult because we want to intervene but doing so does not allow God to work.  Those you have conflict with you will not see God at work in your life and they will not recognize the power of God.  Give God room and be obedient.  When Godly people come together for a common cause, there is power, there is unity and there is healing and no conflict.  Allow God to work in your life and give others room to see what a faith life really looks like.

What is God saying to me: I know what you desire and I have heard your prayer, I have spoken through my word, it is not by chance that we speak about this today.  Be blessed.

Dear Father, I listen and obey, thank You for loving me and allowing me to grow.  May I honor You today by being obedient to Your will.  I pray for the family today, may men recognize the path that God is asking of them and be living examples of their Heavenly Father.  May our actions speak of God and we allow others room to grow and know the God of our Savior.  I ask this in Jesus Christ, Amen.

Genesis Ch-25 8-5-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"Jacob then gave him some bread and the lentil stew; and Esau ate, drank, got up, and went his way. So Esau treated his right as firstborn with disdain." ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭25:34‬

I can't help but think of a country that is slowly tearing itself apart, walking away from "In God we trust."  Are we giving up our rights like Esau for immediate comfort?  This right that Esau gave up would come back later in his life, Jacob will inherit what belonged to Esau.  What are we giving up when we do not stand up and speak the truth.  How is our country changing because we do not recognize the gifts that God has given us.  Prayer is powerful and God hears everyone of them.  We have a God problem, are we are unwilling to share Him.  He is the solution, only Love conquers hate.

What is God saying to me: Love is a gift meant to be given away, you have a choice to make.  Will you impact the world around you with the Light of Christ, He is the Hope for all.

Dear Father, You have me contemplating the events of this weekend.  I pray for this country and the rhetoric that is being pushed upon us.  Bring us back to the values that built this great nation.  Get us out of our homes to know our neighbors.  Help us get back to our roots of "In God we trust."  Prayers for the families that lost loved ones, prayers for those filled with hate and evil desires, may You shine through the darkness and bring us back to our birth right, a place in Heaven with You.  May we not give that up for immediate comfort, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis Ch-24 8-4-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"He said: "Come, blessed of the LORD! Why are you standing outside when I have made the house ready, as well as a place for the camels?"" Genesis‬ ‭24:31‬

A family of faith, it is a beautiful Sunday morning with lots of weekend activities, how many of us take time out of our busy lives and worship God, I pray all.  Abraham's brothers family walks with God as well.  Laban had prepared for a visitor, His relationship with God was cultivated daily and he had been instructed to prepare.  We can spend lots of time seeking riches but if we are not making ourselves rich in the knowledge of God then we are wasting the precious time we have each been given.  God blesses those who walk in His ways, your heritage is counting on you.  God plans are always better when we listen and follow Him.

What is God saying to me: Enjoy the day, you have been prepared, your riches are not here on earth but with Me in Heaven.

Dear Father, I love You, I love what You have to say and the knowledge and desire You place within my heart.  I see You transforming the world around us to be a faith filled community who seeks to be instructed in Your ways.  You are the Gracious God who leads and instructs, May we follow Your instructions and may the Holy Spirit point the way forward.  Prayers for those who are anxious may they see a life with God removes all anxiety for He is in charge and His ways are glorious.  Thank You for this day and the Joy that only You can give.  I ask this in Your Holy name, Jesus Christ, Amen.

Genesis Chapter 23 8-3-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

""Although I am a resident alien among you, sell me from your holdings a burial place, that I may bury my deceased wife."

Thus the field with its cave was transferred from the Hittites to Abraham as a burial place."  ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭23:4, 20‬

Abraham becomes no longer an alien in a foreign land but the rightful owner.  The facts are given in this chapter from a time long past and they are very clear and precise.  Today we can turn on the television and the land where this piece resides is still in the news.  This chapter gives credibility to the truth of the Bible.  God never leaves us without facts and they are being played out in front of us in the daily news.  God fulfills all His promises and makes real what some choose not to believe.  Thirty five hundred plus years later and this land is still in the public eye, deny that.  God's plans are always perfect and can not be denied.

What is God saying to me:  I am not to be denied, I give proof of My reality.  You must look for Me if you are to find me, right in front of you in plane sight.

Dear Father, I love the reality of history and Your presence throughout all of it.  I pray for those who choose to ignore You, challenge them to see what is right in front of them.  Prayers for a friend who is an atheist, may the blinders be removed, his reality be changed and may he come to know You, the God of the Living, not of the dead.  Thank You Father for giving clear detail and opening up the book of Genesis to so many.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis 22 8-2-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"Some time afterward, God put Abraham to the test and said to him: Abraham! "Here I am!" he replied. Then God said: Take your son Isaac, your only one, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. There offer him up as a burnt offering on one of the heights that I will point out to you." Genesis‬ ‭22:1-2‬

Abraham has journeyed a long way with the Lord, he began by doubting what God was telling him, even laughing.  Now he takes God for what He says and acts upon it without question, he trust God implicitly.  Abraham is willing to give his only son knowing God will still fulfill His promise for Abraham's descendants.  This journey to spiritual maturity takes time and together with God we will reach this stage with God.  Daily practices of listening and responding, allowing God to teach you His will and His plan for your life.  Abraham's journey was never easy, there were times of trials but in this momentous trial, Abraham never questions.  There is hope for each of us for this strength comes from above, it is a grace, may we each receive it when called upon.

What is God saying to me: You Listen well, continue your journey, your time has not yet come.  Will you say, "here I am"

Dear Lord, You always provide in our times of need, I thank You for these graces.  I pray for those in the midst of a trial, may they recognize Your calling out to them and like Abraham may they be willing to respond even when it hurts.  Thank You Father for loving us by giving us Your only Son, Jesus.  May we honor this sacrifice by growing in our relationship with the You, the Triune God.  May we take You into our day and may we be a blessing to all that we meet.  I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

Genesis 21 8-1-2019 www.dailythoughts.com

"But God said to Abraham: Do not be distressed about the boy or about your slave woman. Obey Sarah, no matter what she asks of you; for it is through Isaac that descendants will bear your name. As for the son of the slave woman, I will make a nation of him also, since he too is your offspring. Early the next morning Abraham got some bread and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. Then, placing the child on her back, he sent her away. As she roamed aimlessly in the wilderness of Beer-sheba," Genesis‬ ‭21:12-14‬

Food for the journey - Abram obeyed Sarah the first time, now God is telling Abraham to obey her. It is understandable the Abraham has concern for his son but God also reassures him he will be ok, God has a plan. There is a difference in Abraham for now he is honoring God in his decisions, he is listening and responding to God. This is what each of us must do each day, to discern who we are listening to and respond only to God's will. Life would be so much easier if we would learn to do that. God always gives us food for the journey.

Dear Father, I know there is a plan for our time here on earth, there is also a plan for when we leave this planet. As you are feeding us each day with the bread of life, help us be obedient to Your voice. Encourage us on our path forward and may we recognize Your will for our lives. Prayers for a couple of friends that have lost loved ones, help them know that God understands their pain. He gave us His Son so we may live forever. Bless this day and bless each of our journeys, we are never alone when we walk with You. Amen.
